Best canal would be extending Eastern dedicated freight corridor to Dhaka, Myanmar and to any of port in Thailand or Vietnam.Railway line should be in broad gauge.It would take less than 3 days for a double stack train to complete journey for sure.

Thai canal is comparable to Kiel canal in terms of distance saved but it can be compared to Suez or Panama in terms of traffic and cargo movement if it ever materializes.
3 days may sound irrelevant but it's very relevant and important in the shipping industry. Not only it saves time but it also saves fuel which is a major expense for shipping companies.

Yes.extending Western Dedicated freight corridor to Bangaldesh,myanmar and then to any of port in vietnam or Thailand would reduce transportation time to 3 days.If pakistan allows, we can have a dfc upto Turkey and then to Europe.If an under sea bridge is made from Iran to UAE then middle eastern & african goods can also be transported through this corridor.

U didn't mention about Singapore, i believe Singapore is the main reason ..that thai canal is still there in papers...! If this canal comes into action... Singapore will face a huge loss,in maritime business ( which is one of ter main reasons) such as ship Chandlering , bunkering , container transhipment and tourism....
We have mentioned this as a reason from the 1800s. This is definitely one of the reasons even now.
