    Your videos are so helpful. I'm a philosophy major and I find Hegel so hard to grasp. You may be the reason I pass my Continental Phil class

    @BlueFrog83 - I think that's probably what Zizek meant, but in a rather specific way. "Ideology" is "spirit", but specifically it is spirit that reflects the what one takes the Idea to be at a given point in history. In this sense, it's not just "spirit" but the "center" of spirit, or if you like, what we imagine the horizon of spirit to be.

    @bluefrog-sorry I didn't respond sooner. I was a little confused by what you meant. But, yes, I think it's possible to have a sense of spirit when we are "unconscious" of the Idea in a more colloquial sense. An example of this, I think, might be when we have the glimmering sense of the sublime or the wondrous, but can't quite put our finger on what it is.
