I always found it interesting in BOTW/TOTK that two pieces of the Zora armor set, the helm and the greaves, say in the description they're made of dragon scales, but with no elaboration on where they're sourced from if Link and the odd child are the only ones who can see the sacred dragons and therefore potentially harvest scales, and if they just find them, how they know it's from a dragon. It's interesting to think about how the various people of Hyrule might live alongside these magnificent beasts, both in the past and present!

As for the Zora gear we know at least the chest piece was crafted by Mipha personally. Given how perfectly the armor pieces fit together I wouldn’t be surprised if Mipha made the whole set for Link and if anyone qualified as “pure of heart” it was definitely Mipha.

I've been proposing since BotW that many regions are named for the dragons. During the era of Skyward Sword the region are named for the dragons that lived there, while by the time of the new games many regions are named for the dragon that was. This could very well mean that the dragon remains we see at the mire was named Tabantha.

I think the size and abilities a dragon has depends on the persons final wish before draconifying, like how ganondorf wanted to destroy so he was big and powerful, but Zelda wanted to hide and protect the master sword. So I think dragons aren’t naturally immortal, they just can be if the person wishes to live forever. Also I think their abilities reflect the persons deepest desires, so Zelda wanted to see link again and that was why she was able to turn back.

    • @Gigi4u
      @Gigi4u 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I interpreted it more like that the dragons behavior comes from the person nature and behavior in life, like for example zelda was kind and protective so the light dragon reflected that same can be said for ganondorf he was malicious and cruel so his dragon form would also take on those mannerisms.
The dragons elemental abilitys are just a super amplified version of the person normal abilitys because the secret stone they swallowd is now amplifying them even more.
It also seems not all is lost when someone becomes a dragon. It seems that the persons strongest desires, wills and wishes can persist after Draconification.
Zelda wanted to repair and protect the master sword for link which carried over to her light dragon form. She at first dose not recognize link but eventually she realized she is now at the part of her mission were she is soposed to give the master sword to link.
And same thing is seen with ganondorf he wanted to destroy link and cast the world in to a eternal night which he was in the going to accomplish if it wasn't for the light dragons interference.
The light dragon also seemingly recognizes link. It is probably because her strongest will was to help Link destroy Ganondorf. She might not remember why but she knows that she needs to do it.

For me, with some of the cultural significance dragons have, in Japan, I liked to assume that at least some of these skeletons were things more like massive Dodongos, or other "simple" monsters, and maybe the few dragons drove them underground, where they eventually died. I don't know if I like the idea that all those bones are dragons, as it might take away from the majesty of the bigger ones,or that the Zonai take on the forms of dragons when they evolve/ascend. Also, no one else seems awed by them, even though no one usually can see the dragons that still exist. We're all those bones on the surface just excavated by the Bokos, Moblins, and Lizals, because we see some annoying weather, as we trek across Hyrule, but if those creatures have been dead for millennia, that could be a lot of erosion, and earth often layers over/accumulates, more than it recedes, to reveal such things. I don't know, they certainly could be dragons, and maybe those once covered Hyrule more in force, but I still feel like at least some might've been other things, like Dodongos, or the like. Dragons arw so often singular; even when there could be several, they are usually unique to a place, or story, and don't have to share the spotlight with others of their ilk, and this also covers how they were bested, as each was often mighty singly, so would be that much worse in groups.

  • @GenMars
    @GenMars 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

most skeletons in the surface could be from leviathans, dodongos or other giant beast, the only skeletons that can be assumed to be dragons (and even then maybe not) are the long serpent skeletons in the depths

The materials that make up the dragonbone weapons are abundant time for dragons to have existing recently. I wonder if the dragons disappeared before calamity? And now they are only returning after the calamity ending...
If the skeletons are not fossilized skeletons, that means these bones are fresh and recent. That also means that the Giants bones should be fresh and recent.....

    You sure about that?😏
With all the extensive Zonai structures found in the Depths, aswell as what we also saw in the recent TotK-MasterWorks reveal about a "Temple of Light" underground (the ruins we pass through on our way to Ganondorf), I have my doubts about that.
9:09 'Legend of Zelda : Age of Dragons' confirmed! xD

As we see in the memories of the distant past, many of their structures like their version of the Temple of Time, were still very much located on the ground.
Didn't we learn through the stonetablets scattered around these flower-shaped sky islands, that the islands themselfs were only later send up there on behalf of Mineru and Zelda.....or were the majority of these islands already in the sky and only the Temple of Time and its surrounding landmass (the Great Sky Island) got send up there?

We have the garments they wore before they turned such as the ember set, charged set and the frostbite set. Which closely fits what the 3 dragons look like, on top of proving they were zonai. Long ago before the time of Hylia, dragons ruled the dark skies and floating islands above the mortal realm of monsters. It is this era we find the demons and monsters wage the occasional battle with these ancient dragons, slaying them once a blue moon.
One day three golden goddesses appeared and built a realm for mortals between the skies and the realm of monsters. Sealed away, the monsters went to sleep. This allowed the era or dragons to come peacefully to end as the era of the zonai comes to fruition.
The zonai of the sky worship the wild dragons, living in harmony and imitating their ancient protectors with rites, rituals, and masks. Over time the zonai mature as a civilization and find a powerful ore they name zonaite in caves on the surface. This leads to digging deeper and deeper with the help of the mortal tribes of the surface until the depths is breached. The zonai continue to industrialize and grow and eventually awaken the monsters of the depths once more, who are rallied by the demon king Demise.
This leads to the events of Skyward Sword as Hylia rallies rhe zonai and the mortal tribes, doing battle with the hordes of Demise. The ancient dragons, once protectors, fall in battle to the last of their kind. The humans, decimated to only 10% their number are lifted skyward by Hylia's zonai "magic" and become hylians. Some of the remaining humans stay surface-bound and keep their rounded ears.
Or, at least, this is my theory on what the ancient skeletal dragons once were...

What if the dragon bones found in Hyrule are just Zonai turned dragons... that were killed in someway, shape, or form? Nothing implies that they're invincible. And it's obvious the practice had been ongoing for sometime prior to the Rauru/Zelda time, as it has since been banned. Maybe there was a war of Good Zonai and bad Zonai dragons!

Unrelated to dragons, but there's something I wanted to tell you. Yes, YOU, Hyrule Gamer! (one of my top 3 FAVORITE zeldatubers!) Ignoring game physics from botw, I have a mini theory about the Zonai. In totk during the tutorial, the game states that Link will be fine if he lands in water regardless of any height. Then you have the dive challenges. So my theory is now that Link has a Zonai body part fused to his body and has some Zonai powers, could it be part of their biology that gives them the ability to survive those falls? At first I thought this theory falls apart during the finale with the final catch, but then I thought, Zelda still has her secret stone, which is Zonai made (and could be a fragment of the triforce *cough cough*) which gives Link the ability to survive the fall since he's holding her. Just a thought, but I really wanted to hear your opinion on this!
EDIT: Wait! I DO have something related to the dragons! We have NO idea how many Zonai had turned into dragons before it became a forbidden act. My interpretation of Mineru's wording made me think that long ago, those who were gifted secret stones were expected to swallow them after a certain amount of time. I like to think the three sacred dragons named after the goddesses swallowed their stones when they reached enlightenment, or something to that extent, because becoming an immortal dragon is the closest they could to become a god.

The Zelda Devs are commonly purposeful for in game artifacts. In BOTW, we saw so many depictions of Zonai.....as if Nintendo was foreshadowing the next game. Now in TOTK, we have a plethora of ancient life. Could they be foreshadowing the next game as one I hope comes true...... a look back 10 thousand years ago to the start of the war???
    Or maybe.......
This one may be sad to see happen....
The Devs are showing us we are nearing the end of the cycle in LoZ.
We will still have new games, but maybe the entire cycle of Demise's curse is about to be finished in the next game in order to bring "new life" after the "death" of the old.
    Then maybe......
We will have Zelda games where we get to experience the "Rebirth" of Hyrule in its "glory days" & not just play in a world filled with disasters & sorrow that we cannot escape from.

this is very much a shot in the dark, but could the serpentine skeletons under the leviathan fossils be rito that underwent draconification? the skulls very closely resemble that of a dinosaur, sporting an antiorbital fenestra, something that is only present in some archosaurs, a group that birds are a part of. their lack of teeth to me suggests the presence of a beak, and the overall shape really reminds me of a warped fossil, particularly sue the T. rex's original skull. i know the game states that draconification makes you immortal, but they also say its permanent, which it very much isnt, as well as not really specifying what kind of immortality. like, is it flat out cant be killed lives forever immortality? or can be killed but infinite lifespan or something along those lines. the only thing that throws me off is the nose being one singular hole, but that could just be a result of decay.

Not a popular opinion but this is a big problem with Zelda lore in general. BOTW/TOTK has some serious problems with how it relates to past Zelda titles (and well, let's be real, almost every Zelda game does anyway) based on how the environment is structured. If we base it on the environment of each game, the game's cannot exist in the same world. Period. Despite how the games are constantly referencing back to each other.
This video discusses things like how ancient dragons once roamed the land in the wild. And you yourself say we see no evidence of that in any Zelda game. Okay, fine. So these ancient dragon bones predate all other Zelda games...
...except they don't exist in any other Zelda games, they only exist in BOTW/TOTK. The few we do see are in context-specific locations, such as Dodongo's Cavern. We don't see massive dragon skeletons in prior deserts either.
Now, we could just say its a BOTW/TOTK thing. But let's be real here, its not. What about all the giant ravines dotting the landscape throughout Twilight Princess? None of these ravines exist in Ocarina of Time, and TP is supposedly not that far after OOT. These ravines don't even exist in BOTW/TOTK either (not the important ones anyway; the ones in TP had a river going through the bottom and are all around Hyrule Field specifically; BOTW/TOTK only have one large ravine, the Tanagar Canyon which is quite far from Hyrule Field).
Zora's Domain is in a completely different location. The Temple of Time has magically transported into the forest and is completely abandoned along with the Master Sword for no reason.
I love speculation on things like this, but when we try going into detail and noting down very specific elements like "where did all these dragon skeletons come from in BOTW/TOTK?" we have to keep in mind that these kinds of things usually are totally irrelevant in Zelda games. They're added for flavor in the context of that specific game and nothing more.
