    Finding your voice is prolly one of the hardest things. Deep down you want to sound like your favorite vocalist so you try to imitate them. I think that I am finally finding my voice and I am actually enjoying it because it is mine. It has a certain feel not only your recordings but you just feel good. Sound cliché but it is true. Very good video!

    • @KardavoxAcademy
      @KardavoxAcademy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I'm glad! An you're right, I didn't much like my screams at first. But over time once I decided to grow my own sound rather than trying to make myself a carbon copy of someone else, I not only enjoyed vocals more, but found myself being more creative songwriting. Keep it up!

      I agree, when you're trying to emulate someone, there will be that nagging disappointment that it's not 100% like how you want it. But if you embrace your voice, the uniqueness that it carries will ultimately leave you feeling more satisfied.

    I agree with you when you said about original voices like "I know who is singing" I love death metal and I can say who is singing, but deathcore and metalcore is almost impossible to find diferent voices, the most diferent one are from suicide silence and witchapel, the other bands is basically the same thing
    Also, if you are struggling, know that you are not alone, I had to practice basic false chords scream exercise for half a year before start to sing something and now I am having to learn everything again becouse I would not practice for a month becouse my diaphragm was"tired" after training basically 3 songs so go slow

    One more thing, don't start screaming and immediately try to do Signs of the Swarm or Slaughter to Prevail, and then get discouraged that you aren't good enough. Pushing yourself is great and all but when you're 3 months into screaming, maybe shoot a bit lower than top tier stuff. Work your way up to the beasts is what I'm trying to say.

    I feel like a genius now, because when I did mistakes it only hurt for one day, the next day the pain went away and I could do it again. My voice is getting better at singing as well. I kinda figured the correct placement and it doesn't hurt anymore but it doesn't sound good unfortunately. I know that my scream will never sound like someone else but I can tell it has potential to sound good, I just can't scratch the surface yet. Another thing is I heard if you're going to learn screaming you won't be able to sing opera because each of them have their own mechanism and you wouldn't be able to coordinate the two together. Can you make a video about that? Because I'm sure it's false.

  • @w3irdflexbr0
    @w3irdflexbr0 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve done vocals for over 10 years and my morale is so low. I learned in 2013, and I learned “false fold” vocals through the sigh method. I couldn’t do more than 2-3 songs without drying my voice, and they say “push with your diaphragm” so I did. Now I have the unresolved “breath distortion”. It was too airy so I never got an actual growl sound. It discouraged me enough to not want to do it anymore. I wasn’t having fun and I genuinely despised the fact that my tone wasn’t much of a tone after all these years. I’ve done 3 years in the military, I’ve driven a tank and as hard as that was, I still think that was easier than learning false fold vocals.

      I may be wrong but this is what I've learned from practicing. Work on your airflow! And stay calm (I understand it's very hard with songs like Agony from Slaughter to Prevail) but try to stay calm think about your air and hows it's being used and just feel free and sometimes I massage my neck before or after I kinda just rub around or near my throat and the back of my neck

    • @Slamgrinder
      @Slamgrinder 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have had this same issue and I find that what Therapist Carl said helps. Stay calm, don’t force out the air super hard. I do it because I feel like I’m not being loud enough, but you gotta think about it like this. All the vocalists in the bands we listen to, do their vocals into microphones man.

      With no other context I would believe there are probably two likely causes. One breathe support work on your breathing, do some different breathing exercises for vocalists and focus on your diaphragm. Secondly, you might be holding way too much tension in your throat, neck, etc. If you compression, power, and shape are coming from the wrong sources you are going to tire yourself out really quickly and you'll also likely be doing some damage to your chords.

    So decided to try and take on some metal vocals. Decided to start with fry because i love lamb of god and it felt like a good starting goal. Learned a decent healthy way. focused on breathing through my stomach. I practiced on the way to pick my wife up from work and it did not hurt! bonus! However i did have a-lot of tingling and then it felt a little rough. then did some clean vocals and when i cleared my throat after all of a sudden i lost my voice and its like a part just above my throat just clenched and i couldn’t even clear my throat anymore! what the hell happened? I had a nap when i got home and it went back to normal. it kind of reminded me of how your muscles stiffen up after a workout. is it similar? Did i just do too much too fast?

      Lol. Just so you know. I am an aspiring metal vocalist out of Austin, Texas. I have played bass for over 15 years. I've always wanted to get into metal vocals, but I couldn't find the right way to start.You have helped me so much man, not only in learning, but also in introducing me to new music and inspiration. I just want to say thank you, because of you, I feel like I'm finally on that path.

    Dude I’ve been doing metal vocals for a long time and when I do lows sometimes I have these odd annoying voice cracks. There’s no pain at all but I’m curious why it happens? Is it phlegm or what? Have you experienced this with students or personally?

    How did you know you hurt yourself? I’ve been practicing a ton lately and had to take a break due to trying to find out gutturals and started getting chest pain, Lightheadedness etc. hoping it goes away soon so I can get back at it. Also asthmatic so not sure if that’s part of the issue. Love your vids btw

    I wanna learn death metal vocals so badly!! I'm classically trained, so I know the fundamentals of breath and that I shouldn't be grinding my vocal chords together. (No nodes please!!) But I'm so afraid of ruining my vocal chords so that I can't sing choral music or opera anymore. Can I still do both? Also, I'm a soprano, does that have any weight on my ability to develop nice lows? Oh! One more question. Is it easy to do damage when flipping between dirty to clean vocals?

    You must hear these two people before you die!
    This is not metal, it is amazing and extraordinary and will induce a reaction from you.
    You could go ahead and make a reaction video of them, and post it later if you decide to,If you choose not to react to them on your channel, please check them out on your own personal time.
    Here they are.
    Diana Ankudinova
    Dimash Kudaibergenov
    Here are two songs that you should listen to first.

    It's been 2-3 years that I try to do vocal, I watched plenty of tutorials on TH-cam, I build bad habit (Epiglottis scream, for those who know what it means), and now, I feel like I can't get over it, I feel like my body doesn't listen to me when I try to push my airflow trough my false chord, cause when I do, it's just sound like a Louis Armstrong kinda sound, it's hurts sometime and it makes me caught, I rode somewhere that to do Epiglottis shit right, you have to make yourself some scar tissues in your throat, but it's the wrong Way to do vocal

    Number one thing to avoid doing with any noise producing skill is use it to advertise raid shadow legends.

    I've been thinking about this latley. Why do you announce your sponsor in your video?
    I've seen this with hundreds of TH-camrs and I don't get it, why not just leave an AD in the description or have some link in the corner instead of dedicating a few minutes of the video to talk about the sponsor?
    I'm just wondering because this has really been a huge trend from sponsors to force TH-camrs to dedicate a part of their material to adress their sponsors. Why's that?

    • @TheXiodide
      @TheXiodide 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because sponsors that actually pay require it. Ads in a video are SO much more effective than a link in the description.
      Nobody reads the description.
