Not gonna lie, I’d love that but at the same time I don’t really want it to happen. The reason being is because I feel like they won’t be able to get an actor who can fit perfectly as Burgess Meredith did for Mickey Goldmill.
@@Granticus It would definitely be a tough role to cast but it's not impossible. You'd need a bantamweight size guy that's athletically built and has a tough, street smart persona. I'm sure there's a good, young actor out there that could pull it off.
He plays this camp fella in an Oliver reed film that came out a few years before Rocky and is completely different to Mickey,he's that good as Micky that you think he must be a bit like that in real life, but he's not, just a great actor.

Burgess Meredith. A damn fine character actor. One of the finest ever. His portrayal of Mickey is absolutely the glue that holds this together, in my opinion.
As good as Mickey was, the movie works as an ensemble cast. Every character is integral to making this film work. You can't take out any character in this film. Pauley is comic relief, Gazzo is there to remind us Rocky had a heart and didnt really want to hurt anybody, Apollo steals every scene he is in, and so forth. One of the best character driven movies of all time....

Its so sad when rocky has just lost to clubber his final words with Mick before he passes away. Mick made a much better manager than any for rocky, but of course creed training rocky really improved rocky s power stamina and speed. Clubber definitely seemed like a bad guy, with what he said to Adrian at the unveiling of Rocky's statue, then have the cheek to say Apollo creed , that old fool, when for a rematch with Rocky. Apollo comes across as the most knowledgeable and best fighter to Start with. After creed becomes friends with rocky, he's much more likeable. I keep thinking Apollo against the opponents in creed 1 and 2. Apollo would easily beat that first opponent his goes against at the end. And even with quite a struggle beat dragos son. I presume most people won't like the Russian opponents as they come across as bad guys in this film.
Burgess Meredith visited us in Vietnam. I was in the Big Red One and we were protecting a fire base . He was the only actor to visit us infantrymen in the field. God bless him.
Now that's super cool. He lost alot of work in his prime because he didn't wanna go over in WW2. He didn't wanna kill it was Batman that brought him back to acting.
17:16 Mickey's last word was "I love you." When I watched Rocky 3 for the first time, while enjoying every part of Mr. T, this scene really struck me and I broke down in tears. I didn't know why I cried... but that "I love you" was really powerful.
Rocky 1 and 2 are legitimate, genuine masterpieces. Such pure raw acting from everyone, but Mickey's actor will NEVER be replaced. Meredith will always be Rocky's teacher, and his closest father figure. Stalone and Meredith created one of the best student and teacher performances of all time.
Mick symbolized those real throw back trainers from back in the day. You had to have heart n grit for those type of trainers to fuck wit chu, they ain't have time for no bullshit. A true motivator to his fighters. Long live those trainers that mick symbolized.
When everyone you love is taken from your life, the memories of them are all you have until the day you die... Man did I cry when Mickey died in Rocky 3,..I still get tears when I watch Rocky 3.
I don’t give a care for what anyone says. ALL of the Rocky movies have profound life lessons and scenes raw in emotion. Thank you for this tear filled compilation; can’t wait to watch the rocky series with my new born son.
Lolo Sims oh you’re a kid. actually some huge morals in 5 you might have missed but good on you for watching the rocky series. The rocky movies become timeless and even more meaningful when you get older. I can’t wait to show my new born the series when he is older.
I'm doing that this week with my two sons! They're 11 and 9. It already got them with some of the life lessons. We're still on Rocky 2 😊. They asked so many great questions from the movies, and we're planning to watch the 3rd one this weekend.
I absolutely LOVE when Mick says to Rocky, "Listen, he's only a man. You can beat him because you're a tank. You're a greasy, fast, 200-pound Italian tank. Go through him, RUN OVER HIM!!!"
Watched the Rocky movies as a kid and thought Burgess Meredith was a really really good actor, then one night I saw him in an episode of the twilight zone, and realised he was an absolute genius and massively underrated as an actor. Should have won an Oscar for Rocky1 or 2

If I was the Academy I would just give the Oscar to Burgess for playing Mickey. He was one of the best characters on film and I adore him.. Rocky was half a man without Mickey and in turn Rocky made Mickey wanted to live on. They both made Rocky.. Rocky. RIP Burgess... coz we luv ya.

I loved the character Mickey. He was a father figure to Rocky who needed guidance. He had a very tough exterior which made him push Rocky to be the best he could be. Deep down he loved Rocky even it was tough love.
21:00-21:09 Rock: "How much do you think he [Thunderlips] eats?" Mick: "About 202 pounds..." Ring Announcer [pointing to Rocky]: "Weighing 202 pounds..." That smile Mick gives Rock afterwards always makes me laugh. Never fails.
All I can say is Sly knocked it out of the park, Best Sly movie ever!! Every time I'm reminded of these great movies I go back and turn on the old tube to watch again. The story and performance never gets old!!
ROCKY......so many great memories,....wonderful characters,......and an inspiration to millions who never thought they'd get a shot........the story of realizing your Dreams
