This old nugget is still pik up speeds like a charm. I am sure this car can still keep up with the most modern cars on the road even today.

No doubt on that 800 is a legendary car and the 5speed is a faster800
no. It can't. Classic car but it can never compete with modern cars. It's a carbureted engine. The car was pretty old and clunky outside India even during it's time
18.5 sec 0-100 in those days!! The ambassador or the 3rd or the 2nd fastest car in India at the time, had a 0-100 of 36.5 secs. Even if I am a 2k kid I still respect the elders and the ones who sowed the seeds
@@arjunarun3033 this particular one had dohc set up and had a mpfi system, I mean it would still be no match for the modern cars but this can defeat the alto 800 easily for sure . I am saying so because the engine used in the current alto 800 is this one, they share the the same engine and the Maruti 800 weighed just 620 kgs that’s nuts!

The post 2005 mpfi (4speed MPFI) made only 37Hp
And the 5speed was the sport version of 800 at that time (they sold in parallel with 8V 4speed Carbs making 35Hp model)

Bro, I was thinking about getting a used 800 as my first car. How was the steering? Was it like really hard to twirl?
If it is a well maintained one ..... Go for it..... steering is pointed at high speeds..not too tight😜

Don't..there are many cars used below 1lakh like 10yo cars hyundai , tata , mitsubishi , ford , wv , skoda & mahindra. I recently saw a mistubishi lancer for 75k and looked pretty well maintained. Maruti 800 is a proper tin can it has basically no protection a type of car that u should not take out on the highway specially for a new driving learner the bigger the better it is. Go for a sedan or suv type car like tata sumo or something those are heavy and consume a lot of fuel but if u ever hit someone or someone else hits u there is way more chances of survival in a sumo than maruti 800 😂 and if u buy peteol make sure it has fuel injection cus carburettors are a pain in the ass and fuel economy is low.
