  • Covid-19 has had immense impacts on our healthcare system, including on the care of our most vulnerable patients such as those with end-stage kidney disease. For our annual Kardos Medical Grand Rounds, Dr. Kirsten Johansen, professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School and chief of Nephrology at Hennepin Healthcare, will provide insights into the impact of Covid-19 on individuals battling end-stage kidney disease.
This lecture is held in memory of Dr. Gary Kardos, who was an esteemed clinician-educator nephrologist at UCSF for several decades.
    Speaker
Kirsten Johansen, MD, completed her Nephrology fellowship at UCSF and was on our faculty for many years before being recruited to the University of Minnesota. She is currently a professor of Medicine at Minnesota, director of the Nephrology Division at Hennepin Healthcare, president of the Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute, and director of the United States Renal Data System. Her research centers on the epidemiology of kidney disease and how to improve the quality of life among patients with kidney disease.

Late data, doesn't help change things in a timely manner... A post mortem report doesn't benefit the dead or the doctor dealing with losing them...
