Excellent video! The best video on Woodland Photography. Other channels spend hours fumbling around, beating around the bush and never explain the subject. Sam you did a fantastic video about the subject.
Wow, thank you very much Sammy, I really appreciate that! By the way, if ‘beating around the bush’ was meant to be a pun, it’s a really good one! 😉👍 Thank you for watching, Sam.
Really enjoyed watching that, a really good way to explain woodland photography with some fantastic tips. Also there's some fantastic images in there 👍
Extremely useful video !!!! There is a lot to learn from it. The examples are very good. The illustrations are excellent. The locations are nice. Congratulations!!! Dr. Zoltán Dobány, Hungary.
Great set of photos throughout the seasons. What's wonderful about woodland is the landscape changes across the seasons and with different light and time of day, there is always something new to discover.
Absolutely, I completely agree Russ! I have to admit, I struggle more with woodland photography than any other genre, but being surrounded by some stunning woods here in Oxfordshire I do just love getting out there and exploring them, and I love following how they change throughout the year. Sam.
Thank you very much Alan! Ah yes, no mountains, but I'm still looking forward to heading down that way once we're able to get out and about a bit more! Sam
Another great episode to your coverage of genres in the landscape Sam. From the opening footage to a fabulous selection of images to go with your ideas behind what to shoot in any given condition or seasons. Well done Mr Bose. atb Al
Alan, I'm absolutely positive I replied to this comment shortly after it was posted, and it's just reappeared in my 'not replied' list, I'm sorry! I distinctly remember it, as I was going to correct you on the fact that is in fact 'Dr' Bose! ;) I think there's something funny going on, I'm sure that has happened before as well. Thank you very much, I did really enjoy putting these videos together, I think I should do more of this kind of thing in future. ATB Sam.
What a great video! Beautiful images, great instructions, and the presentation is very clean and comfortable. Great inspiration! I can't wait to get out into the woods again!
Me neither Ryan, it has been a while now since I was able to head out there with the camera! There's a bit of light at the ned of the tunnel now I hope, so hopefully it won't be too long before we can get back out there again! Many thanks, Sam.
I'm really enjoying your channel, Sam and Hannah, and have recently subscribed. Australia's evergreen forests and woodland don't necessarily present the photo opportunities that your deciduous woodlands offer, but there are certainly some universal hints that I've picked up from this particular video. Thanks, and best wishes.
Thank you very much Pete, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel! Yes, the forests in Australia are a bit different, but I'm sure some of the principals in photographing them are similar! Thank you for subscribing, Sam.
Thank you very much Perì! Hope you're keeping well down there in Italy and managing to get out and enjoy the birds! I've been watching a barn owl near to my house the last few mornings. Yet to get decent picture though (it's the wrong side of the trees!) Sam.
I just found your channel! I'm hooked, I've been watching your other videos through the night leading up to this one! I would love to see a tutorial on how you edit your photos!
Wow, thank you Thomas, I'm glad you've been enjoying them! Absolutely, an editing video is overdue as I've had a few requests for one. I can't get out much at the moment of course, so I think a post-processing video may have to be next on the list! Sam.
Some beautiful images Ben. I just wish Torbay had a decent woodland. The one decent one we had was ruined 3 years ago with Ash Dieback. Now the centre section is bare of trees & been replaced with the ivy, bramble, buddleia & weeds. Devon mainly coniferous woodland, with the exception of Wistmans of course. Mist, fog frost snow no we have had none of that here during this lockdown & the police coming down hard if you go 3 miles out of town. I like many are struggling with mental health & wellbeing & not being allowed out of town with my camera is not helping. Working all week in PPE I want to get away from people not go to the outdoor spaces with hundreds of others walking their dogs. Rural Oxfordshire is very scenic in a different way to Devon. Stay safe Sam.
Thank you very much Nicky. It is so sad to hear you have lost your Ash due to the dieback, it is such a concern to think they may be going the same way as the elms. I was also really saddened and disappointed to hear of the damage that has been done to Wistmans recently. That is such a special, but fragile place and it needs looking after. I completely sympathise with your situation at the moment. I work as a research scientist at Oxford Uni, so I've been working throughout the pandemic. I'm extremely lucky to have some beautiful quiet woods within a couple of miles of my home that have provided a haven at the weekends. Since this latest lockdown though I've not been out to do landscape photography since the end of December (hence making this series of videos from old b-roll) and it's been a real struggle. There's a bit of light at the end of the tunnel now I hope, and I really can't wait to get back out there again! Keep safe Nicky, and I hope things will get easier soon. Sam.
Great video. I love woodland photography. Find the link too my long term local forest project on my channel. Under the "Wat gebeurt in het bos" episodes....
