I noticed that with the seraph blades. Season 1 they looked like glowing kids toy swords, season 2 onwards they manifested from the hilt and looked like proper swords
@@Macroman595 I believe the first season version is more in line with how they're described in the books, and there was probably a practical reason for the switch. A piece of molded plastic attached to a flashlight wasn't going to stand up in fight scenes nearly as long as an actual metal or hard rubber-foam compostie prop blade. It probably got expensive and just plain tedious to keep replacing the broken seraph blades and sweep up the broken bits between takes.
I loved watching him do magic. My fav one here was when he changed his clothes with magic. Magnus has to be the one of the best television characters of all time. What a phenomenal actor.
This is the best TV series I ever watched. The Malec content is so incredibly touching that all the Jace and Clary nonsense never mattered. I watched only for the alec and magnus scenes. If you know the actors you would understand how they really pushed their boundaries.
I also watch that tv series for Magnus and Alec. In comparation they bright like a star while Jace and Clary like candle (my english skills are still poor)
And that precisely is why the tv show sucked. Magnus and Alec in the show were the better actors and did as well as they could with what they had but they are not supposed to be the most important couple. All 3 couples have important roles but Jace and Clary are supposed the be the catalysts, the driving force for the story. But in the show they were poorly written and the actors werent good enough to elevate it. The movie had problems of its own but the actors for Jace and Clary did much, much better.

The show had a lot of plot devices to continue such as the Magnus and his father's storyline, the Sizzy storyline, the Seelie Queen and Jonathan's relationship storyline, and much more. Since the show got canceled unexpectedly, the showrunner had to create two new episodes (3x21 and 3x22) and had to edit 3x20, so what happened in those three episodes were not supposed to happen originally. The breakup between Magnus and Alec would have continued into season 4, Asmodeous was not supposed to be sucked into limbo at season 3, the development of Sizzy and Clace would have been explored more, and some other storylines. I don't how many seasons the show wanted, but I am guessing six seasons because there are 6 Mortal Instruments books. I am not saying I want Shadowhunters to be like Supernatural. I just want the show to use all of their potential because the show got canceled when it was improving so much more. Season 1 was good, season 2 was great, season 3 was awesome, and season 4 would have been amazing. It was improving every season, so it sucked that the show ended early when so much could have been explored.
This was my issue, too. I couldn't finish the first season cause I found her scenes so cringey. But if you guys say she's improved, then I might give this show another chance. :) Thanks, guys!
Pretty good in the second half, but holy shit, they might as well have hired me to do the effects in the first scenes...(barely know anything about shadowhunters, I just like magick and VFX)
another series that proves that sometimes the sidekicks are more important than the "main characters". The book and the series is mostly centred around the jace and clary angles but like its the worst thing about it. jace is actually tolerable but clary's character and the actress's horrible acting makes me barf. malec and everything alec is what made me fall in love with the series. and magnus getting all his powers back without a single side effect makes me happy and glad that they didnt add too much drama post that.
this is how I love seeing witches portrayed. powerful and versatile with there magic and yes I said witch magnus is a witch. yall need to stop thinking the term warlock is for male witches. the term witch can be for male or female.
Warlock is literally his species, the name for a being who's half human and half demon in this show. There are female warlocks too, like Catarina and Dot.

You can definitely tell how much the effects budget was growing as the series went on. Including a very big jump after the first or second season.
