Very late reply but this was me too. I had never even heard of the show or the books but I happened to see the wedding clip on TH-cam, and even without knowing the characters or the plot I was really moved by the whole scene, to the point where I actually watched the show. The Malec parts were the only reason I stuck with the show from start to finish. They were just perfect. Every so often I will rewatch the series but I honestly only care about Magnus and Alec... lol

Alec and Lydia weren't getting married because Lydia even liked him in the first point. they were doing It because they felt like It was their duty to their families and to everything they stan as shadow hunters. Lydia even had said previously that she did have someone she loved but he died. They could have easily made Lydia be that girl that throws a fit and goes crazy after Alec does that. However, they decided against that. Lydia chose to tell Alec to have his big love. Lydia was left at the alter, and her groom kissed someone else. Have you seen Alec's mom's reaction? I think Lydia would have suffered some blacklash from this because of the shadowhunter world is homophobic and racist. That's just my personal opinion. BTW I think Lydia knew that Alec was gay, but chose accept his marriage proposal. She did It to help him. I still stan Lydia. She helped Alec in many ways. Please do not take this as attack on you. I was just trying to explain my reasons to you on why I stan Lydia.
hey i didn't watch the series for a long time cuz frankly i thought i wouldn't like it and that there wouldn't be many malec scenes..but i regret not seeing it earlier. malec is the most prominent couple in the show and they bring me more joy than anything else! so please go watch it!

Alec and Lydia weren't getting married because Lydia even liked him in the first point. they were doing It because they felt like It was their duty to their families and to everything they stan as shadow hunters. Lydia even had said previously that she did have someone she loved but he died. They could have easily made Lydia be that girl that throws a fit and goes crazy after Alec does that. However, they decided against that. Lydia chose to tell Alec to have his big love. Lydia was left at the alter, and her groom kissed someone else. Have you seen Alec's mom's reaction? I think Lydia would have suffered some blacklash from this because of the shadowhunter world is homophobic and racist. That's just my personal opinion. BTW I think Lydia knew that Alec was gay, but chose accept his marriage proposal. She did It to help him. I still stan Lydia. She helped Alec in many ways. Please do not take this as attack on you. I was just trying to explain my reasons to you on why I stan Lydia.
