With regards to a Golf, the TDI's may have very low mileage as some owners turned theirs in when VW got busted for emissions scandal. I bought mine in 19 as an almost new car. I car faxed it and the dates were almost identical to what the dealer told me which is the car sat for 2 years until the issues were resolved. And I did get PPI just to make sure and he said the car is basically like a new car. The PPI is the way to go. And don't forget you gotta car fax or auto check. It's a must.

My NC Miata has 150k miles, and it's still running strong. Mileage greatly depends on the car because some cars were not meant to run that long.

Yes, I’ve been scammed. I bought a 1994 3000GT with only “96,000 miles” for $1,700. Body had dings but nice paint. Interior was immaculate. Found out the mileage was FAKE when I tried to sell it to a Dealer and they ran the VIN. Always get the CarFax!!

Back when I own my dream car 2003 Evo 8, I was forced to give it up for more comfortable option as my wife was mostly driving it in Chicago traffic. Due to the fact it has a salvage title, no one was putting up the cash for it, so I opted for private party trade. Found someone with Lexus GS 350 worth about same that my Evo so I meet the seller. We both liked our cars, did a parking lot even trade and signed the titles and went home swapping cars. Upon closer inspection, realized the title of my new Lexus had a previous owner as an Asian last name lady but kid who sold me the car was Polish !!! I was never more scared at DMV trying to register it on my name, but somehow it went perfectly ok, so I might have legally registered a stollen vehicle!!
Got lucky but that was a dumb dumb moment for me 😂🤣

My sister bought a 10 yr old BMW 328i for her son. He bought the iCarly device and found that his mileage was about 32k off! My sister paid an extra 12k for that car because it had less than 48k miles and was supposedly a lease turn in that the dealership was using as a loaner, but then they sold it and the lady never drove it so sold it back to them. In reality the car had about 80k miles on it. So the dealership claimed they were all 'highway miles.' On board GPS proved that wasn't true either. She sued the dealership and they settled out of court with no admission of wrongdoing and repayed her 15k plus attorney fees, then demanded the car back, but that was struck down too.

The decline started with the FF Civic hatchback. The Portofino and Superfast and all those all accelerated the 2004 Mazda 3 front fascia and cuttlefish rear end decline in styling. Even the Roma is bland. The SF90 is trying but it just looks like a kid doing a wedge super car and lacks the beautiful flowing Ferrari lines of the 360, 430, or 458.

We pay for mileage on diesel trucks, so rolling back the meter on the wheel hubs was a weekly task. In the trade - I've seen 100k haircut on a car. But, these days, there are 6 monthly mandatory inspections and mileage is recorded on a national database.

The 2 week the AC went out then the next the transmission went out, I looked on the ob2 reader it was the conveter so I took it to a a shop he said that it will cost me 2900 to fix it and I was like no way I'm not going to pay that

I just bought a 2002 Cougar with only 38,000 miles on it. The dealer I bought it from showed me the Carfax. The mileage is legit. The only owner before me just rarely drove it. That mileage is going to rise fast for me. I only bought it to save money on gas because my truck burns more than twice as much.

Years ago, a friend of mine had an electrical fire under the dash of her 3-series BMW. The dealer replaced the entire dash assembly, with new gauges and everything, as well as a new odometer that started at 0000 again.
A few years later, she wanted to trade it in for a new car purchase. The dealer, not sure if it was the same outfit or different one, seriously low=balled her on the trade, claiming that with the new gauges, "the true mileage could'nt be ascertained".
She felt like she suffered twice, first with the fire, then again much later on the trade-in value. She felt the dealer should have protected her after the repair by either setting the odometer to the correct reading, or providing her with an official statement of the car's true mileage.
She switched brands and hasn't set foot in a BMW dealership since. BMW's loss, Mercedes-Benz" gain.

Be careful with buying motorcycles also! There's some people who change out the odometer/cluster or get it reprogrammed. You'll buy a bike thinking it only has 8-14k miles when really it has 26-30k but last mileage wasn't reported.
    DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING.

I would be highly suspicious of a twenty-year -old car with a low mileage like that. My first thought would be it's a lemon that has spent most of its life in a garage waiting for parts and getting fixed.
Even if tha't s not the case, it's a twenty-year -old car!! Everything on it is twenty years old, and it's long since out of warranty. So while I would be willing to add a little extra for a below-average mileage, there is NO way I'd accept that if the seller diverges so hugely from the rest of the market.

You don't need a ppi for a cheap car. If I bought a desirable sports car with a cost to match, it might be worth the time. If you want a car to work on, miata comes to mind. Beggars can't be choosers so much anymore. You might find something wrong but there's not a lot of affordable options and whatever is broken is probably on your list of things to replace anyway.

Here in Serbia we import used cars from Germany, Swiss,... Practically importers by default rool back odometer to 200k kilometres. No matter what age or usage car was it's roughly 200 000 kilometers 😂🤣😂. I was looking for Mercedes sprinter, on the side it was badly removed sticker written Hermes (like UPS but Germany). seller was bragging about low mileage, only 170k kilometres. I was like dude it says Hermes, it has probably 500k to one million kilometres of city driving. Stop bullshit and let me estimate how much life is left in this junk white shit so we can negotiate price

  • @AxCE12
    @AxCE12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The video was good intended but it was kinda uselss. Sellers these days have ways to make the car look as new inside and out side and also they fake the service book. They can invest in that honda 2000$ to make it look like it got out of the factory with 0 miles....soo...... I think the only good way to tell is just to assume that if it's too low, it's likely fake. In Germany for example the average mileage is 20k miles
