Two things to mention that might have been missed: the magic pack size sextant is insane with this as it will scale pack size for altar mobs and affliction mobs. And then delirium which gives its inherent rarity and quant bonuses as well. (Obviously this requires an even stronger character). Hope this helps someone :)
There's something weird in this mechanism. My build has been quite weak, because I haven't got currency for gears and I have been wearing whatever was dropped and slightly fixed. I suddenly got 6-link bow and armor as a drop and also got other gear improved. Before that, I was mostly doing tier 1-6 maps, while I had few tier 10 rares cleared. After my improvements, even tier 10 rares became easy and everything was walk in a park. I cleared few 11 and 12 rares spiced up with all wisps I could find. Next my power and endurance went up radically. My physical damage reduction went up from about 25% to 75, my chaos resistances from -30 to 40% and spell supression from 0 to 50% and my dps from 50k to over 100k (it's toxic rain chaos damage, so it's that low). I made lots of improvements, including 6 skill points from campaign missions. One could think those lower tier maps would be ridiculously easy, but totally opposite happened. If not being very careful, I get killed by regular tier 6 monsters, if getting all the wisps I can get. Without wisps, I can kill those bosses in couple of seconds. It seems that power of wildwood beasts somehow scales along my strength and that reflects also the power increase of normal monsters. I just completed Maven's tier 10 challenge, and that was easy. Haven't done it before, but I suppose those opponents should be harder than some random monster in tier 6 map. It's kind of problem, because I get huge xp penalty from dying there but without wisps, maps give practically nothing. I have done Kirac missions, but for some reason, they drop mostly several tiers lower maps, even though my atlas tree have increased possibility for higher tier drops.
I though you could leave the mechanic if you stay long enough in the dark. But I wasn’t sure if that makes your whisps less effective so I stopped doing it
@Crouching_Tuna 5:40 There is a way in the game atm to tap out of the mechanic which involves the player running into the darkness part of it. When you get 10 stacks you get yanked out of it and the wisps still buff the enemies
One thing worth mentioning is that Mark said in the Q&A that affliction bonuses are multiplicative. So the quant and rarity bonuses aren't additive with stuff like map quant (which includes altars), they should multiply. In that case, you don't hit diminishing returns on taking more quant from the wisps.
I look forward to trying the appraiser node for once, I've kinda done most former league mechanics to death and am just looking to chill and run maps and this sounds great for alch+go :)

People are ignoring that the more wisps you collect and DON'T spend, the more bonuses you'll get. If you decide to buy stuff from a vendor, you need to decide whether it's worth buying over the amount of monsters that will be affected. For example, you will notice a massive difference between 2000 purple wisps and 300 purple wisps after using them to buy corpses. Tinctures are overpowered and no one is looking at them seriously. The one I have gives me Culling Strike, Headhunter mod steal effect, and 21% fire penetration. Building your own ascendancy is good for spell casters or minion players, but tinctures are automatic best in slot for attack builds.
@@TheMrGazoline It's a general advisory. If you go to the Charms, Tincture, or Corpse vendor and just buy shit, make sure it's worth the cost. Don't just buy random shit on speculation or because you think it's valuable. Make sure it is first because most things at a vendor cost enough to make a significant impact in your mapping experience. Just don't use your wisps to buy everything you see, only the good stuff.
@@dret4874 IMO they are superior. It really depends on what mods you have, the base tincture you have, the damage type you deal, and how many flasks you use. If you NEED to have all your flasks, then tinctures aren't worth it. If you only need 1, or ideally no, flasks, then you can scale the effect on a tincture by 300%. That means you can take a 25% chance to steal a rare mobs modifiers to 75% chance and never need a Headhunter. You can get 45% elemental penetration. Tinctures are truly something that is worth looking into because the power they hold is vastly superior to charms if you are an attack build.
I thought that too and am editing my reply, but as others have said, you can only walk into the darkness for a quick port out once the portal to the map has appeared.....
When I was running the campaingh I also found a shrine that gave me 400% quant and rarity buff in the map im in for 5minutes.That is on top of the whisps.So you get the picture.:D
Not rly... You are looking this "problem" from the wrong angle. What you managed to farm in 10 maps before this mechanic, you can farm in 2-3 maps now. Conclusion is, you save time despite how you feel.
@@dominges This mechanic is only good if you juice around it, if you are doing a go fast strat like say essence, or red altars + expedition or something it is a huge detriment. The league mechanic doesn't scale any of the fixed rewards 80% of mechanics rely on.
@@dominges not sure what strategy you are running or if you've even done much testing but since we don't know exact numbers to buffs and from my experience, it is not worth doing.
What I really want to know is how long I can run around in the tunnel before I'm kicked out. I haven't noticed anything that tells you how much light you have left.
I\m currently rarity stacking in ssf with the "Meticulous Appraiser" keystone, and the loot is nutz. I have limited gear and juice, but with a semi juiced map, i get like 300+ uniques if not more with the purple juice. I'm ping ponging between bog and city square, this strat could be insane in trade.
Same here. I counted 62 uniques from a single bog boss... and then I stopped counting. Only been running it for a couple of hours, but got a nice group of t1 uniques in that time.
@@hansimgluck6789 i used 4 sextants (more mobs sextants), 8 mod bog maps, where i spec into abyss, ghosted exiles, top hat nodes, legion, delirium and quant nodes in the middle. For scarabs: unique, abyss and legion. When you enter the map, go into the league mechanic thing, prio purple whisps, where yellow is the second best.

To add to this, I found an item that gets consumed if you drop below 25% HP, your chance to take damage is reduced by 75%. Idk if this is specific to the league mech (I'm a noob still), but it was pretty neat finding it. It was under a rock? lol. The loud BWANGGG went off for it.

Doesnt Primal gives Item rarity, Vivid gives currency items, and Wild gives Item quant? I looked back to the Content Reveal and it showed the same as I mentioned unless it was changed.
The wildwood itself rolls with map modifiers so rolling Beyond on your maps also spawns beyond in the wildwood. I haven't seen you mention this. i've seen things like chests, harvest and beyond sofar. idk what else effects possible nodes.

But how many monsters get empowered and buffed by wisps? It seems to be only a small part of the mobs that get buffed. If it's a fixed number of mobs then scaling pack size would not synergize well with league mechanic
If you’re not too high level you can run the desecrated chamber or other high lvl zone in act 10 over and over (just enter mechanic clear and reset at waypoint and repeat) to fairly easily get your 4th and 6th points. Sadly the 8th points can only be done in high reds (I think t15+) and that’s the end boss who is apparently really rough.
official announcement of affliction states the following: "Primal Wisps grant an item rarity bonus to inhabited monsters, Wild Wisps grant an item quantity bonus, and Vivid Wisps cause them to drop currency items. If a monster gets all three types, they'll drop more items of a higher rarity and a lot of currency." how comes, that people believe, that blue does more currency, purple rarity and yellow quant? that explains actually why my experimental harvest dropped about 50% more purple life force.
I'm honestly just upset they made getting your new ascendancy points rng...I ran the mechanic is almost every area in campaign and now I'm in red maps (having run the mechanics in EVERY SINGLE MAP) and I still haven't found the corrupted trees for my 3rd and 4th ascendancy...though I've heard people found it before finishing the acts...so how tf am I supposed to get my last points?? Just hope?
I also had tht quest for very long time, but its random, now I get them quite often, just follow the correct whisps. Best tactic is just spam one of last zones of campaign only run mist and reset, you will find them in 10-20mins
it's not as much about what's in the woods as it is the insane drops you can get in the maps.........Did you even watch the video explaining all of this?
@@down-the-rabbit-hole that’s my point tho. Those map mobs can get so giga buffed it’s not worth it unless you’re already a high budget build. If you have a Ghosted, triple affliction buffed, 8 essence stacked, nemesis modded rare, it’ll take you 45 mins to kill, if you can kill it at all, because it will likely one shot you and be super hasted. Pretty much brick your map because it’ll chase you down and kill you over and over. And if you do manage to kill it, it will drop a handful of crap rares in addition to the essences it would already have. It’s better to just blast maps and get loot as fast as you can that way, at least until you have insane damage
@@jordanharrison8769 Then just avoid essences when running it, or run the mechanic after, because you can still get the ascendency points and amazing charms by running the mechanic after you run the map..... Also, I run the mechanic on lower tier maps on my Lightning Arrow Build and I do just fine. I've had some juicy currency drops on lower tier maps running it.. If you are still dying running it on lower tier maps, then you have build issues.
I`m confused, int he affliction content reveal it said that blue fairies gave item rarity, purple quantity and yellow currency, that is different from what you have in your video. Can you clarify ?

Rogue exiles + torment spirits + quant to rarity node + growing hordes + strong boxes + blue altars + one of the 2 singular focus or shadow shaping for sustain
I may try this once im done lvling to 98-100. Doing blight on lavachamber/cage. i like single blight lines and some divine beauty drops. + harvest + essences.

Theres also a shrine that duplicates uniques, could possibly be one for other items too

I found a Immortality(!), Action Speed and more - Shrine that lasted 5 minutes. Sadly I didn't find a Boss or had anything else juicy on the map :D

You can walk into the darkness to be thrown out of the mechanic, doesn't kill you.
I though you could leave the mechanic if you stay long enough in the dark.

he means leaving without the portal, like when you still have light left since the light will just keep illuminating the dark.
You can walk into the dark and it ports you out, no penalty as far as I can tell

"Tapping out" this way is only available once the exit portal spawns, making it pointless.
there is also a interaction between wisps that converts your monster into a unkillable uber boss

Wait, did ggg changed the type of buffs each colour grant?
On league reveal stream they showed:
Blue - rarity
Purple - quant

You can use a tp in the mechanic to get out. You will just loose one of your 6 portals to the map but you can still get out

The league has just started, that's normal. In 2-3 weeks they will no longer be opponents because we will become stronger.

@@dragonjim93 you are thinking early league, and are correct. later on, when you have insane 1200edps +2 arrow bows, hh and other tools at your disposal, you want to do exactly that
But how many monsters get empowered and buffed by wisps? It seems to be only a small part of the mobs that get buffed. If it's a fixed number of mobs then scaling pack size would not synergize well with league mechanic
How do i unlock more quests from the wildwood masters for 4th, 6th and 8th ascendancy points? Been stuck at 2 for awhile now
that's the same problem I have, besides not being able to see the "blue/green" whatever it is color very well.
If you’re not too high level you can run the desecrated chamber or other high lvl zone in act 10 over and over (just enter mechanic clear and reset at waypoint and repeat) to fairly easily get your 4th and 6th points. Sadly the 8th points can only be done in high reds (I think t15+) and that’s the end boss who is apparently really rough.
Does wisp help increase quant for harbinger as well? Overall harbinger does affected by in map quant right?
official announcement of affliction states the following:
"Primal Wisps grant an item rarity bonus to inhabited monsters, Wild Wisps grant an item quantity bonus, and Vivid Wisps cause them to drop currency items. If a monster gets all three types, they'll drop more items of a higher rarity and a lot of currency."
how comes, that people believe, that blue does more currency, purple rarity and yellow quant?
that explains actually why my experimental harvest dropped about 50% more purple life force.
They stated after the initial release that the order was mixed up in the announcement (not sure where it was mentioned but it’s definitely a thing)

I'm honestly just upset they made getting your new ascendancy points rng...I ran the mechanic is almost every area in campaign and now I'm in red maps (having run the mechanics in EVERY SINGLE MAP) and I still haven't found the corrupted trees for my 3rd and 4th ascendancy...though I've heard people found it before finishing the acts...so how tf am I supposed to get my last points?? Just hope?
I also had tht quest for very long time, but its random, now I get them quite often, just follow the correct whisps. Best tactic is just spam one of last zones of campaign only run mist and reset, you will find them in 10-20mins

how would this stack with harbringers? Even empowered the mobs are easy and the extra quantity might mean they drop more than pocket change?
I'm in act 2 now and I've not seen any of the npc's so far so i feel like I'm doing something wrong

it's not as much about what's in the woods as it is the insane drops you can get in the maps.........Did you even watch the video explaining all of this?
@@down-the-rabbit-hole that’s my point tho. Those map mobs can get so giga buffed it’s not worth it unless you’re already a high budget build. If you have a Ghosted, triple affliction buffed, 8 essence stacked, nemesis modded rare, it’ll take you 45 mins to kill, if you can kill it at all, because it will likely one shot you and be super hasted. Pretty much brick your map because it’ll chase you down and kill you over and over. And if you do manage to kill it, it will drop a handful of crap rares in addition to the essences it would already have. It’s better to just blast maps and get loot as fast as you can that way, at least until you have insane damage
@@jordanharrison8769 Then just avoid essences when running it, or run the mechanic after, because you can still get the ascendency points and amazing charms by running the mechanic after you run the map.....
Also, I run the mechanic on lower tier maps on my Lightning Arrow Build and I do just fine. I've had some juicy currency drops on lower tier maps running it.. If you are still dying running it on lower tier maps, then you have build issues.
I`m confused, int he affliction content reveal it said that blue fairies gave item rarity, purple quantity and yellow currency, that is different from what you have in your video. Can you clarify ?
In another video Tuna said that GGG mistakes with the wisps description, so the description for each wisp Tuna says on this video are the correct ones (sorry 4 bad english)

Rogue exiles + torment spirits + quant to rarity node + growing hordes + strong boxes + blue altars + one of the 2 singular focus or shadow shaping for sustain

5:37 can't you just portal scroll out? While leveling that worked, haven't tried on maps
when you portal back in you go back to the woods

I may try this once im done lvling to 98-100. Doing blight on lavachamber/cage. i like single blight lines and some divine beauty drops. + harvest + essences.

wait wouldnt the growing hords then the quant turned to 3x rareity node be great cus im not 100% sure but the league mechic quant and map quant are diffrent so u can get get 300% rareity and like 50% quant makeing highend drops way more common?? or am i trippin
