Great job on this, Karl! With all that crumbling rock and route finding, I don’t think I’ll ever do this one. It was nice you had the goats and falcons for company…
I have, and it’s on my channel somewhere. I think the video was a little bit less cause I was kind of nervous, lol! It was probably my best trip of the year if not the maroon bells.
Awesome work Karl! After climbing N Maroon first then Maroon peak the following day I was more than satisfied, specially knowing the kind of loose rock in many areas. Pyramid was just as fun a day later. I felt that N Maroon is trickier on the route finding. I did a repeat of the peak a year later that was 2018-2019. Your videos bring back great memories; keep up the good work!!
Fantastic effort. So glad you put in the details about getting off trail coming down from North Maroon, because that is definitely our biggest concern. Your technical experience and confidence def were essential in getting back to the trail via that sketchy ledge. Congrats on an epic hike.
I'd love to do some drone footage of you guys. I think it is BY FAR, the best way to show your viewers just how awesome and immense your adventures are! It can not be on a wilderness area though. . . There are tons of examples on my channel.
Thank you for the compliment; I saw your subscriptions and noticed America's Parks! I just got back from a collaboration trip with Randy. He came out for me to guide him on a few adventures in western Colorado and Utah. I flew the drone and used the 360 cam for some of our videos. I'm pretty excited to get working on those, I think Fisher Towers, Moab may be the best of the bunch! We hiked out at sunset and the colors were truly surreal! Cheers! Many of my other videos are similar, this was one of my favorite adventures, th-cam.com/video/e4gE0BgIoVU/w-d-xo.html
I've been going down the rabbit hole on all your videos. Great footage, great advice. Especially when you note your experience and to take your advice with a grain of salt. I see far too often highly experienced folks almost down-talking to less experienced folks when the latter expresses concerns on different sections of different hikes. A lot of the stuff you do I don't think I would really want to do, not because I'm not comfortable with the idea of some of that scrambling, but simply the fact I'm a pretty big, heavy dude and the chances of me dislodging stuff is a bit greater. I know from experience! haha But seriously, I like how you approach things and your disclaimers about how not all will have the same level of experience and abilities! Hopefully I'll make it down to Colorado someday and take a crack at some 14ers. Or 13. Or even 12. I'm not picky. I have friends who live there who have climbed most of those peaks, so I would be in good hands! :) Once again, great content. Cheers from Alaska!
Appreciate you very much! I have always tried to keep things real, convey my adventure experiences with your observations in mind, and I thank you for recognizing that. All the best to you going forward, Karl 👍👍
Good job, Mr. Decker. Great footage (although, I’m personally not so keen on fisheye shots) and I’ve noted your Creative Commons SoundCloud links as I enjoyed some of your selections. You’ve got yourself a subscriber, so more of the same please! 👍👍
Thanks Neil! You won't be disappointed, just finished climbing another major adventure zone in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, and Americas Parks is coming out for a collaboration adventure, Desert and Mountain, next week. Doing these TH-cam videos has motivated me to be my best self with all its new challenges and incorporating my old strengths too.The fisheye/360 camera is annoying, lower resolution and tougher to edit but, it is the only way I know of to get hands free footage in those dangerous situations were going back for the camera is a tall order. The drone is the other option but, not in Wilderness areas, The Snow range, Pacific Peak and Ten mile traverse videos have some cool drone shots if you like those scenes? Sometimes I do wish I had a partner, it would be so much easier for the epic shots. I listen to lots of my video music on it's own too, Punch Deck as well as Sappheiros is worth checking out, lots of good stuff!
@@KarlDeckerPresents It was through your Ten Mile range traverse that I came across your channel. I’ll check out the other artists you mentioned. I enjoy Hernan Cattaneo, Golan Zocher and Kamilo Sanclemente mixes through SoundCloud on my hikes. Check them out.
Great video Karl, very helpful for me planning my adventure, much appreciated. You videos are very entertaining and resourceful. Can i just ask how long this route took you to complete? Just the hiking/scrambling route without the cycling section
Thanks much for your nice comments, much appreciated my friend! Two problems: I don't accurately recall specific times that far back. Two, do to the VERY significant expenditure of time doing all the filming, backtracking, setups, etc, my time to complete any of these trips is WAY longer than it would normally take. Check out a couple climbing sites, they have great baseline data. Cheers, Karl 👍
@@KarlDeckerPresents ha yeah very good point. I was thinking that whilst watching your videos, there's a lot of backstepping for when the camera is set up ahead of you 😂 I'll check out some sites online. Again, thanks for your very helpful videos, I have downloaded them to my TH-cam and will be very helpful for me completing my challenges 👌

Thanks Aamon 👍! I seem to have this thing with the mountain goats... you've watched enough to notice that 😉
Incredible, dude! Absolutely fantastic camera work and commentary.
Great video. Very good and thorough description of the route. Beyond my skill level for sure.
I have, and it’s on my channel somewhere. I think the video was a little bit less cause I was kind of nervous, lol! It was probably my best trip of the year if not the maroon bells.
Thanks for taking me along on the ride. Stay safe and stay awesome.
As long as there are new, worthy adventure venues you can be sure we'll do the best for you guys! Karl 👍

Thanks my friend for all the kind words! Yes, Pyramid is quite easy on the route finding, but a great summit! Take care, Karl 👍
great video! looks so much cooler with a little bit of snow! nice angles with the 360
Insane footage! Your talents could be a contender in the Banff Film Festival!
Appreciate that, that's a pretty generous comment 😊👍

@@KarlDeckerPresents That sounds awesome! We will reach out to you the next time we head to CO.
This is incredible! I can’t wait to do it.
Amazing watching you do this! The skills you bring to this endeavor are beyond me brother!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow, beautiful shots!

Yes. I work with Randy. Actually Randy told me about you and to check out this video. Really awesome. The 360 cam is incredible. You do a great job!
Excellent video, Karl. I enjoyed it very much.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks 👍

Are you using the insta 360 for filming
Yes, but only on some of the shots. . . espcially the ones where I'm climbing, my hands were full!
