Hi Cheryl, Great to hear you enjoy these educational videos about the dedicated physicians who are helping heart valve patients with minimally-invasive, transcatheter devices. Dr. Makkar is awesome. If you like, you can learn more about him and see more video featuring Dr. Makkar at www.heart-valve-surgery.com/interventional-cardiologist/dr-Raj-Makkar-Los+Angeles-California.php.
Texless, Great to hear you enjoyed this video with Dr. Raj Makkar from Cedar-Sinai Medical Center. If anybody would like to learn more about Dr. Makkar, here is his profile - www.heart-valve-surgery.com/interventional-cardiologist/dr-Raj-Makkar-Los+Angeles-California.php. 👍👍👍
Hi PhatCat, Great point. As you know, each patient case is unique. What you may not know is that transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is being done on patients with bicuspid aortic valves. For example, Dr. Makkar (who is the interventional cardiologist being interviewed in this video) is doing research on TAVR for bicuspid aortic valve disease patients. That said, TAVR is not for every patient. There are many risk factors to consider. We imagine that your medical team has reviewed your anatomy (and risk factors) and discussed with you the benefits of traditional open heart surgery. That said, our thoughts are with you! 👍👍👍
@HeartValveSurgery thank you and yes, everything has been explained to me and we have decided that the TAVR is not a good option for me, I sure wish it was
this guy never sleeps.
😀 There is no doubt about it. Dr. Makkar is an extraordinary physician and scientist. It is an honor to work and learn from him. 👍
