As someone who has driven Audi's most of his life, readers will be surprised to find my take. It is fair to say the Macan is by far the best luxury compact SUV in its segment. By comparison, the Audi Q5 3.0 (V6) offers 272 hp with an exterior and interior that dates back nearly six years (with some minor refinements). The Macan S has underneath its hood a V6 twin-turbo producing 340hp with a base price only slightly higher than the Q5 (49,900). The PDK (Porsche's double clutch transmission) is far superior to Audi's traditional 8-speed transmission. The gears transition quicker and smoother. One look at the vehicle's interior and you'll be reminded by the benchmark of sports cars (the 911). The combined effect of sport and luxury is magnificent. If you are in the market for a compact luxury SUV, the Macan is the optimal choice. The hurdle is getting one as they are (rightfully so) very difficult to come by currently at dealerships.
Seems like the chief complaint is that those who cant afford one think those who can are idiots. Pretty much the same gripe muscle-car guys have about any German cars. Usually the same folks that think Rolex is overpriced.
I've had a Russian Niva jeep that I risked my life in every time I got behind the wheel as my first car. Then a mini Chevy pick-up, Ford F150, then BMW and from working my way up to this car...it's hands down the best thing I have ever owned. Hauls ass like a sports car, corners like one too...but you can toss all your fishing gear in the back and tow your boat...what's not to love. Reviews are reviews...but ze Germans nailed it on this vehicle.
I like it! Alpharetta has these running around all over the place. I would definitely have one of these, but it would have to be the "Turbo" version. Twin Turbo....400 some odd horses....Yes please!
Definitely the best looking crossover in existence. Can't believe there's a Q5 under there. Price is a bit too high though, rather spend that 60k on an SRT-8 Jeep.
Porsche makes sports cars too? Haha. Love it. Here in the Silicon Valley of California an overwhelming majority of the Porsches I see are the Cayenne and I've already seen a handful of the Macan as well. My local dealership only had one Macan for me to sit in and drive, but it wasn't even available to purchase. I was told there was a wait list for the vehicle.
It is a marvelous car, especially if you have a family. You can have it and it will deliver a lot of Porsche fun to you. But it is a "wife's car" and nothing can change it.
Those prices mentioned in the video, $50K for the S and $73K for the turbo Are only if you order online. If you go to the dealership, the S is about $60K and the turbo at $80K.
since your not American... I'm guessing you can you educate us Americans on that term? Better yet you should have just said what it means besides telling us that we don't know. Right now we don't know if you know right?
Porsche doesn't stand behind the quality of their vehicles. The transfer case on 2015 Macan S has failed twice now in only 27,000 miles. This is a known issue which caused Porsche to extend their warranty to 7 ys. Their "improved" transfer case lasted only 2 years 2 months and 9,000 miles. I am out of warranty by 6 weeks and Porsche turns their back on problem and sticks me for $3,200 repair. Don't buy a Porsche w/o extended warranty for entire length of time you expect to own it. #1 rated warranty company - Endurance - won't even sell coverage on Macan. That should tell Porsche and all potential buyers something. Customer experience is far from an expected premium car brand experience.
jason starek agreed. People in the car community judge so damn hard on others likes. Saying it's a q5 is like calling a beetle a 911. Shut the hell up and let people buy what they want and stop being a whinny bitch.
Ryan Cooley I don't mind the opinions or commentary...I just get annoyed when people form opinions based on misinformation or a lack of information. I'm also not a fan of politics. (By definition, 80% of the population is stupid...regardless of their political party). Same goes for car opinions.
I would rather not spend a dime on a Porsche station wagon. Much more satisfaction is to be found in driving the newest possible 928 one can find, spend what needs to be spent on upkeep and upgrades and revel in the savings and NOT be a shopping mall Porsche poseur.

Would you recommend the S or the turbo?
+Hermann Brumm Go by an Audi instead it is cheaper and the same unreliable car so you will waste less money to maintain.
@@Fussinated Tell me you can’t afford a Porsche or Audi without telling me you can’t afford a Porsche or Audi.
No back-up camera as standard for a 50k compact suv?!?... Lol

Muscle cars/suvs are in a different territory of driving pleasure with raw power. There is no rule of thumb here.

The Macan sold out a while ago, lol. I've only seen one Macan on the road so far.

Lol...it's called negotiating.
"They're literally flying off the lot"? So the cars can fly now? Lol
+Everett Kim I was thinking the same exact thing when I heard that.
He's gone senile but I still want him to host
"Literally" flying off the lots eh? I'd like to see that.
Got damn stupid funny :P
americans.... :')
Nutshell2K "Got damn"? WTF does that mean?
Profits It's like saying God Damn but people sometimes get offended by god damn -_-
Big news! Finally, our flying cars have arrived!
Literally flying off dealer lots? I thought this was a car not a plane.
Funny how a Kona N now does almost the same 0-60 and quarter as this
not comparable. kona is smaller than macan. macan looks better. i would rather have a used macan turbo vs new kona n...
Nice lid Ben.
amazing
woa 4.5 0-60 that's as fast as my 435i MPPK... Literally flying off the lots would be awesome..Americans don't really know what "literally" means.
since your not American... I'm guessing you can you educate us Americans on that term? Better yet you should have just said what it means besides telling us that we don't know. Right now we don't know if you know right?
We have terrible schools
they will never say that lol
American cars are junkers we can compete with imports from Europe or japan this cars are fun they got soul

luxury sedan hunter ?? I got a Used 2012 Genesis 5.0 r-spec for 19,000 (motortrend tested 0-60 in 4.8 seconds). Hehehe.
Macan's reach and exceed $100k in Canada. Why anybody would spend that much an a Porsche Q5 is beyond me.
It shares a chassis...that's about it.

Motor week is so biased towards American cars
The corny voice and cleche's continue year after year from this guy. Can't stand him. Sorry, just venting.
