I post on lots of your videos.. depending on your abilities..as a non Mexican cost of living can vary dramatically.. many small places in Mexico prices can be very inexpensive. If you go to big cities like Monterrey or Mexico City.. these video comments are correct.. friends that live in better communities in Monterrey.. prices are not San Diego or Austin. But certainly higher than Phoenix. Mexico is not disconnected like the United States from the economy.. example.. Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Cabela's, Dick's Sporting goods, Bass Pro Shop, anything on Amazon.. it's all Chinese merchandise..in Mexico there is still some protectionist policies..in the US people are screaming about patriotic BS and drive a non US made car to buy Chinese products from Walmart.. Walmart and Costco in Mexico have many many more domestic made products. If you don't need big city things.. Mexico can be super super inexpensive and relaxed.. But lots of information is incorrect.. there are tens of thousands of affordable homes in the US, none are near good employment opportunities and none are in areas w lots of services. In many places the small to medium sized towns don't have a grocery store. This is seldom the case in Mexico..all medium sized towns in Mexico will have a grocery store, gas station, often many services
I agree with you about what you think is incorrect in my video, I just didn't mention it in this particular video but I have mentioned it in previous videos talking about the fact that you can find affordable living in the USA but as you said it is far away from work/food/services and more. in fact I got more in detail in this video th-cam.com/video/8C0zvMkxJEU/w-d-xo.html Thanks for sharing with us!
As where I currently live in SE Asia. You get these people who need to live a life far exceeding their needs. They drive the prices up because they are ignorant. People here respect those that are frugal. People that are not, get taken advantaged of. Currently my expenses all in where I am at is 750 USD per month. This is for five people, all in. Lol.
You got pretty much a free pass. 42% of Mexico lives in poverty. Mexico has a 45% high school graduation rate.. Mexico throughout struggling to provide running water and electricity.. thousands of towns have no school or access to a school. My city is big over 300,000 and the government can't get water and sewer service to tens of thousands.. many people go a week or ten days w no city water service. Thousands have supplemental systems installed w each house having an individual water tank. The minimum wage in Mexico is @200 pesos so $12 dollars a day US and that is not widely enforced..40+%of Mexico participate in the " informal economy" which means they don't pay taxes into the system, work jobs and are paid in cash outside of government reporting and collecting system. Most significant is the narco state. President of Mexico made official policy not to fight cartel crime, said so publicly. He had a saying translated to English " hugs not bullets" cartels operations throughout Mexico w absolute impunity. High profile cases(@3) government caught 3 highly wanted criminals, including El Chapo's son and released all after cartels began rioting and violence, acts of terrorism like burning buildings and vehicles. And statistics are not available officially, but 90+% of all crime in Mexico goes unsolved, including murder, most agencies say numbers are likely higher, with majority of all crime in Mexico going completely investigated..
Everything is true, except that we will not fight drug trafficking, but we are overwhelmed by drug traffickers, in addition to the fact that the Americans are the best clients of drug traffickers and also provide them with weapons.
I’m coming down for 3 weeks in February. Last year I did 2 weeks. The year before 1. This trip I’m gonna land in puerto Vallarta but check out Leon Guanajuato san Miguel Quetaro and Oaxaca.
This was another good video you did. I met several Americans in VeraCruz that are living for about seven hundred a month Pretty comfortably. Across where my girlfriend lives, The 3 bedroom apartments were running 150 to 200 U. S dollars. It's a little bit more now, but not much more. I just saw their stats from February Which still list 3 bedroom apartment onaverage for it around $300. I had a lady friend who works for Mexican daily news. She has a house and she was only paying a little less than $300 a month. However, in general, the pay is pretty bad unless you're in the government over there. 1 lady told me who was on a fixed income said that the food prices have consistently risen, but she also does not have a car payment. Food is still rather cheap in the state of Veracruz comparative to some other parts of Mexico
I live in CDMX easily on $1567 a month in SSDI in Reforma/Cuahtemoc, but that was after something of a learning curve. Much of the learning curve comes after having dealt with the exchange rate, which means my rent on my room can fluctuate from $320 to $335 because of factors beyond my control. So the lesson is when you do your budgeting, leave a cushion for exchange rate fluctuations
Hola Jose y Christian! Hola Chris!....Chris, is that figure your total spending budget? If it is, what can you possibly be spending all of that money on?! The reason I'm asking is I'm figuring this- If you spend $335 on rent, $300 max for groceries. Add another $90 for IMSS, $100 for private insurance and $175 to keep your Medicare valid in the US to cover all of your possible insurance options. Then you spend a max of $12 for phone service and another $90 for a couple of street food tacos every single day for a month, that still leaves you with $465us per month left over..... Maybe you're a drinker and a smoker, that exact amount left over would buy you roughly a six pack of Modelo and a pack of cigarettes a day! I am able live like a Rey a little over a mile to the beach in a spacious and private 1&1 with a beach view and beautiful overview of the city lights at night from my hammock on my patio. That includes all utilities, cable, internet, drinking water, laundry and maid service for less than $1300us per month. I don't drink or smoke....cigarettes (wink wink) BTW-I don't skimp on anything and that also includes all health insurance needed and I also get dental if I choose included with my IMSS. I pay for most of my medical/dental needs out of pocket because it's easier and very much affordable. Buena suerte
