In two piece pattern match plate is not used. One part of the pattern is
Inside drag and other is inside cope.

In split or two piece pattern, there are two parts which are being put in cope and drag and have a dowl pin to prevent from misalignment. Two piece pattern have no match plate. This process is time taking and some aligning mistake might takes place. That's why match plate patterns are used. We can produce complex shape of objects in mass production.
