Their will be one more thing the mythical pokemon for this gen actually has a quest that takes like an hour 1 or 2. Probably more around 1.
I find hilarious that Kieran lost like 3 times and his reaction was to cry, make a competitive team without really understanding what each Pokemon is supposed to do, and then when he loses again ONCE he goes "fuck it, I wanna use a legendary".

The cameos from all the previous series was incredible, seeing crumpet and grief show up, priceless.

Like every fruit has a goofy name as a berry, like "leppa" being "apple", "grepa" being "grapes", or "pecha" being "peach"... BUT BLUEBERRIES ARE JUST BLUEBERRIES?

Well they do have 'just' fruit, you can use them to make sandwiches with. The thing is, they don't have an in battle effect so they're not commonly referred to. The reason that 'battle berries' have names that are similar to the real fruit is like how there are actual fruit with similar appearances and tastes to other fruits.
Not the 'best' example, but the coquito nut looks like a miniature coconut and tastes the same, but are entirely unrelated.
You know ive played through the game like 3 times but unironically forgot that the sandwiches had fruits, and the whole "naranja/uva acadamy" thing... Idk how I forgot that.
Still weird to me that they exist though, brings up the similar question of do regular animals exist in pokemon world, or are we straight up eating lechonk bacon?
@@darcidious99Pokémon has depicted real world animals a few times! Mostly with fish and insects, but there was an older episode where they depicted a standard weasle with Ekans. It's insinuated there's a mix of Pokémon world stuff and real-world stuff in the Pokémon universe, and several Pokedex entries do say people eat Pokémon with Fartfetch'd being one of the more classic examples.
Poor Kieran had to realize in the hard way that he is simply a side character.

@@thealchemistking4063 Keiran doesn't get bullied at all. He doesn't even fit the definition of bullying. Keiran couldn't handle losing to MC, wouldn't respect that Ogerpon was her own being that didn't want to go with him, and couldn't get over that his sister lied to him because their grandfather told her to (for good reason, he was scared for Kieran's safety). He becomes a temporary bully, being cruel to others in the club in his strive for power. The second DLC literally spells it out; Kieran has to let it go. You can't always be the best or strongest and that's ok. Drayton's behaviour once Kieran lost was 100% unacceptable but I think he was sick of Kieran's behaviour at that point

I'm a good pokemon player but I've never done competitive, I'll get my ass kicked by expert competitive players. I'm very gifted and got into a top university, but there are students who are actual geniuses and are always beating my scores! Do I let it get me down? no! I just do my best and do what makes me happy. Even if pokemon MC never loses, they aren't mean or rubbing it in anyone's face. Still not bullying

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet, a game made with love, but not time.
I love how half of his commentary shows a deep strategical understanding of Pokemon's mechanics, whilst the other half is just "hit it with a hammer"

It is shocking to see the ball somehow dropped so low and thrown so high at the same time in a single product like this. I... don't know how to feel about this.
New to Pokémon?
Graphics aside the game really isn't that bad, but saying "graphics aside" is like ignoring a massive hole in your front door
For real, all the references and nods were of such high and obscure quality, and the story working out like this was neat.
But at the same time, it's a Paid DLC that fucking dropped the ball into the pits of hell so far that we can't see it, even with the terrain clipping and glitching around its POV.
Hopefully Gamefreak sticks to its supposed idea of dropping the 'New game every 2-3 years' and begin making at least average quality games again, especially if they want us to shell out $20-30 extra for optional content that isn't actually optional if we want a full story. Remember kids, it's always morally correct to emulator a Nintendo game ❤

I used Perrin’s growlithe/arcanine on my own indigo disk team and it was really cool to see her acknowledge it

makes me a little sad...clearly, love was put into things like those, but the devs arent given enough time or support to make a polished game
I love how RT went through all the effort of transferring all of these iconic Pokémon from previous playthroughs into Generation 9, so things could be as authentic as possible, but when it came to Dr. Hoo, he instead went and caught/trained a new Decidueye all for the sake of making a joke about how many times the Doctor's actor has changed over the course of his franchise.
(For those who are wondering who "Trimph" is, apparently he's the sole survivor of the great Oshawott massacre of 2022, where RT caught one Oshawott and -killed- defeated the rest)

...The Meloetta secret is so cool. It has such a "mew under the truck" vibe that feels so fake yet makes so much sense. I think its my favorite part of the entire dlc;
The entire community banding together to find Meloetta, since we knew she existed but not how to encounter her

I'm still salty about what they did to the gen 4 remakes - especially as pearl was the first pokemon game ive ever played. I hope gen 5 gets treated better^
My hope is that we get more mythical Pokémon available in the games this way.
Having Mythicals obtainable via “mew under the truck” kinds of methods would be lovely
I really hope this is how Mythicals are treated going forward. It took the internet a few days to figure out how to get Meloetta to spawn, and the whole thing is a lot more interesting and makes them feel more special than just "downloading it off the internet."

45:13 That actually makes TOTAL sense. Ultra Beasts are the only ones to ever resist even a Master Ball.
Holy hell that was a strong Ultra Beast though, to cause AN ENTIRE REGIONAL PHENOMENON.
That puts Torapagos on the same level as Necrozma and Eternatus.
At this point, the plot of Pokémon games is that a random Pokemon emits an uncontrollable power and causes a shift in Pokemon battling, and people want to do something with that, and we have to deal with the fallout of people harnessing this power.

@@iantaakalla8180Eh, no one really wanted to do anything with Necrozma in Sun/Moon. The plot was about resolving the family issues with Lillie, Lusamine, and Gladion.
Even in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, no one wanted to harness Necrozma; the plot felt more like a kaiju going haywire and would’ve ended the world if you didn’t help calm it down.
SwSh and SV were definitely about harnessing the power of the crazy powerful legendary, but Rose was the only one who played it straight. Terapagos was in no way relevant to the emotional beats and stakes that came with Sada and Turo’s story, and Kieran only caught it to beat you in a battle.
I'm pretty sure it's a scripted catch and you're reading too much into that. Also it would imply that terapagos is from an alternate reality where it's very common and invasive in some way.
As one of the people in the very first union circle, I'm glad our grinding was put to good use (Gambling)
I was able to get into the Union Circle on the second stream, and I agree, those BP were put to very good use (Gambling)
The term “final boss” is not usually used lightly, but the way Terapagos cheats in and out of its fight definitely deserves final boss status.
It appears that RT has elected that Lettuce is tired of this world and decided to become a fully fledged a-hole to all her friends.

i honestly adore the little mew under the truck shit they did for meloetta and keldeo lately, and even manaphy in legends arceus. theyre such a fun way to make these mythical pokemon avaliable

I've never played a gen 5 game but hearing RT gush about all the references somehow managed to give me second hand nostalgia somehow if that makes sense.
I can already tell RT’s inner Gen 5 fanboy is screaming when playing this DLC with the countless references to the Unova Region from the characters, the music and the secrets you can find in it that you know GameFreak wanted to make The Indigo Disk DLC a love letter to Gen 5 but also a perfect closure to Scarlet and Violet’s fantastic story!
Can’t wait for what the future of Pokémon holds wherever it be Gen 5 remakes or Generation 10!
I think it's safe to say that most of us were overjoyed to see and hear all of the gen 5 references. I wasn't expecting game freak to reference much but they did and it made me so happy.
Whenever GF does it nowadays, it comes off as them trying to appeal with nostalgia instead of actually making the games good imo. Kind of like flashing fancy lights to get attention instead of making something naturally interesting... Not saying the DLC isn't good, just comes off as disingenuine.

Definitely the case with bdsp, this dlc however I do think they put a lot effort with the references (especially meloeta) although we're probably never gonna see those elite 4 again which sucks @@MusicComet
It’s sad bc you can tell so much love went into all the references and callbacks in this game but they were so rushed for time that the final product is a mess
It’s a lot like the game as a whole, with a lot of elements being among the best in the series, but graphics and performance just tanking the final product
yea. This game and especially the second part of the dlc is a reminder to everyone that if the teams would get the time they need, theyd put out AMAZING games.
I hope gen 10 is gonna be what scarlet and violet desperately wanted to, but couldnt be. The talent and passion to do it are there.

You know last time someone tried to mess with time, Dialga took on a new form and tried to kill some b*tches. But making a little tiny eensy weesny itty bitty baby circular time paradox that unleashes a sleeping god, no, no problems.

What are you referring to? Both times I can think of that Dialga started attacking people (Mystery Dungeons Explorers, Legends Arceus), Dialga was driven mad by the disruptions of time and attacked out of primal instinct, not out of an actual attempt to defend time. It doesn’t actually seem to be aggressive on its own.

Kieran wanted to be like Lettuce that he became an onion to combat the lettuce.
Gamefreak is like a fancy restaruant that has a huge team of professional chefs and an endless supply of top-quality ingredients. But then they dump them into a rundown kitchen and ask them to make a 5-course meal in 15 minutes and then take a fat shit in the oven. The chefs are still skilled enough to make the meal taste good, but the presentation sure leaves something to be desired.
I don't believe the chefs are skilled enough, because the Kitchen (Switch) has shown BotW/TotK can exist.
The original Pokemon games had major issues, but it being new carried them a lot of the way to sort things out. When it was time to be critical they just told the same 8 gym evil team layout over and over so they could fix issues. When they had to adapt new spaces and situations they struggled massively. Going so far as to lie about some choices.
You might think Arceus proves this wrong, but the systems in the game were horribly flawed. The lengthy boss battles could actually let you skip the battle part of it. Just throw more stuff at the boss as they are stunned and you will lower their health. The issue where the Speed/Strong style leads to Speedy buffs to a sudden high powered attack with no counter play. Graphically they did run into major issues when BotW/TotK proves that these don't need to be issues.
Gamefreak can't continue to handle major changes on their own because change is hard, repeating the same thing 50 times is easy.

It’s not that they were given hardware that can’t support their ideas, it’s that they have virtually NO TIME to actually create something of high quality. TOTK had 6 years of development time, and was pushed back multiple times so they had enough time to finish everything. The Pokémon Company does not allow Gamefreak to push their games back, as it would mess with all the other types of media they produce which are the actual main source of income for the Pokémon franchise. These games are given ~2 years of development time, which is simply not enough to keep the game well rounded in all aspects, which is why they dropped the ball in performance and graphics, while having some of the best writing, character designs, music, and mechanics in the series. Something needed to be lost in order for these games to even ship given the time constraints the devs are under.
@@Buglin_Burger7878Did you miss the part where they said the chefs had “15 minutes” to prepare their dish in the analogy? Not once did they mention hardware. It’s fine. BotW and TotK got delayed multiple times for several years, which is why they turned out so great. SV has a lot of heart and attention to detail but it’s clearly held back from how rushed it came out.
I don't think the meal would taste good in this situation, just decent enough for most people to be satisfied. I'm talking that there's issues with this game that isn't just the optimization, but that's also because of the crunch, so not much else to add here tbh.
Honestly, bugs and graphical issues aside, i was super satisfied with this DLC

I find it a bit interesting yet also somewhat sad how meloetta was the only mythical that stayed in unova, even after so much has changed about its scenery and its technology

Stuff like the tiny details at 33:15 and the whole "mew under the truck" way of finding meloetta shows that GameFreak really can put a lot of passion into their games. Its a shame that they get so crunched for time and the visuals have to take a hit.
Can't beleive Keriean became redpilled and adopted the Sigma-Bateman Mindset™. Truly a based choice by Gamefreak
Fun fact. I forgot that i hadn't beaten Carmine at the end of the teal mask dlc so for a while i went around completing all the post game stuff in paldea as in rematching the gym leaders and even clearing the first black tera raid crystal.
...I spent hours doing something pointless and when i finally looked up what was going on, after i had finished everything i wanted to smack myself
You can tell that they put actual love for gen 5 into the DLC. With all the gen 5 references in it, they went all out.
The thing, all bugs and hic ups aside, the developers actually do love the games. And it shows.

There’s not much one can do in the middle of the ocean. Except perhaps beat each other up and slowly go mad due to the waves.
Legit teared up a bit at the relic song. So many little touches that even through the jankiness of the game show the love for gen 5 and that's just awesome

In a way, this dlc feels like such a love letter to the Unova games. I’m actually super happy with it.

The moment I found my Meloetta my first thought was that Dan was going to love this.
Secondly I wondered how this was a real thing in a pokémon game.
Okay, despite the quality of the overall game, i love this DLC, such a great like love letter to gen 5 without feeling like it intrudes or overshadows the story, and now the relic song will be tugging at my heartstrings.
The return of Daneshiro was not something I expected, but I'm all here for it

When the Meloetta music started playing, I almost teared up. Gen 1, 2, and 3 were my childhood, but all the old games always had a few "moments" that hit differently. Now, in my 30s, I am finding it very hard to enjoy actually playing pokemon like I used to. But watching you play and being genuinely happy about it gives me a lot of joy. All the memes, jokes, and those beautiful moments of serious appreciation that you do, make these videos priceless. So thank you RT for doing what you do, and thank you Cloe for editing so many hours of video ❤❤.
Stellar typing doesn't change what moves are super effective against you. It makes your attacks stronger and changes how Tera Blast works.
my favourite easter egg in this so far is the Porygon tera battle you can find, as it has the electric tera typing. Just a neat reference to the episode that caused all of those seizures back in the day.

It makes me curious if they do intend to make Unova next , are they going to implement the children from BBA into the story or have a weird post game timeline
I think that having "remakes" set in the post-game would make everyone really happy. Simply remaking each game exactly as it was... Does that mean anything anymore, now that we've reached games with graphics beyond 8-bit? I mean... you may as well just play the originals.
But if we get to play more sequels/prequels set in those regions, then it'd be well worth the money.
I didn't get to experience the Meloetta event in Black and White itself but I saw it in videos and hearing the relic song again, I almost cried. GameFreak might drop the ball on the new games but even now they're still delivering when it comes to Gen 5. If they remake it, I hope they don't mess it up.
I wish I grew up with Gen 5, I only started playing around Gen 6. I wish I had the same appreciation and happiness Dan did with the Gen 5 nods, those parts where honestly the best part of the video. Seeing so many call backs to game you love or grew up playing just hits you differently, it’s like when I played TOTK as long time Zelda fan. It also goes to show despite Game Freak and The Pokemon company clearly rushing out games with glitches, bug, etc. they still are really passionate about each game they make adding a lot of callbacks and Easter eggs to past games and the amount of attention/detail (not graphics wise) they put in the game is astounding. Even for the Sync part which most people probably didn’t use that much, they still made it where with Suicune you still run on water or when Lugia swims it’s similar to the opening of SoulSilver. Which is why I love Pokémon so much, yeah sure there are obviously issues like frame rates and stuff like that, but each game feels unique and fun to play, and the developers clearly try to keep the world of Pokémon connected and all that other stuff. It’s why I like watching Dans let’s plays of the Pokémon games, because seeing life long fans like myself going through each game and recognizing Easter eggs, references, call backs, etc just makes me unexpectedly happy. Sorry for the long talk. If you are reading this Dan, I hope you keep on making great content and I’ll be excited for the next Pokemon let’s play.
To answer how the Stellar type works for anyone wondering:
Resistances stay the same as your original type
All moves deal 2x damage if their the same type as the user, or 1.2x if not a stab move, but only once
Tera Blast deals super affective damage against any Terastalized Mons has 100 bp, but lowers attack and special attack by one stage.
On Terapagos only Tera Starstorm attacks all opponents and is stellar type, making it deal neutral damage against everything, changes its form significantly buffs it’s stats, and changes it’s ability to remove all weather and all terrains
Also terapagos has unlimited boosts
To add to this, Stellar only boosts once *per type*- So if you use, say, Earthquake and then Dig, only Earthquake will be boosted, but if you use Earthquake and then Dragon Claw, both will.
Except in Tera Raids, where all your moves will get the Tera boost until you faint.

I love it when Game Freak actually shows the pokeballs breaking when they fail to catch a pokemon, it just shows why you can't reuse them outside of just game mechanics. the only other time i can think of, for a pokeball being shown broken was when Leon, the unbeatable champion (he has a charizard), threw a regular pokeball to catch eternatus.
the mockery of Crispin as a name and immediately the legendary Crispin Freeman pops to mind... at least it does fit the weird chef theme too. XD

I loved all of the Gen V nostalgia. Hearing Castelia City's theme and the Tao Trio theme had me so hyped. And the Black and White room was great too.

My Pokémon scarlet game glitched to where the last spike for one of the sudo legendaries doesn’t exist and doesn’t register as being claimed. I played through the first part of the DLC dedicated to finishing the Pokédex. I have now realized I have to re start my whole play through. I wish to share my grief, wish me luck strangers
After spending a dlc and a half in distress about causing my favorite character's breakdown, I was not prepared for the revelation at the end that I was also responsible for ruining Arven, my OTHER favorite character's, life.

No matter how much people shit on the game's performance issues, they do such a good job with music. Literally every song for the game is great, remixes old music for callbacks, and then just straight up plays the old music too.

i used like 4 different teams throughout my playthrough and thought i was based for mixing teams and bringing back old retired pokémon for the indigo disk but you took that concept and blew it out of the water holy based

The meloetta event in black and white was so special to me. I was huge into preforming arts. It was my way to express myself when I couldn’t otherwise. Meloetta as a Pokémon felt like a lovely and genuine tribute to that beautiful world. After not seeing anything of her for almost 15 years, this rendition had me in awe.
They clearly have some really passionate people working on these games, especially these dlcs, it really sucks how the studio and nintendo at large push the games out the door half baked to make way for the next half baked one.
I havent bought a pokemon game since pokemon x but if they slowed down and let that passion run the place theyd have me as a regular customer again.
Seeing the paradox fusion legendaries and zekron made me thing how much they missed the chance to give us the original presplit version of zekrom, reshiram and kyruem in this game
