I feel like I’m learning so much justreading the little translations and extra notes lmao The “GWB” “Gee, Nina, what will you be?” is super clever, and I love how excited the little commentator note seemed about it lolol
I feel like nina was a bit too hard on herself i mean she went to college and it wasnt her fault that she fell behind with her grades because she had to work like 2 jobs and i know the people like looked up to her and praised her but they cant really be mad because she gave it her all so shes not really the biggest disappointment .
Yeh agree and I feel she just didn’t have a community to support her or at least she didn’t feel like she did, she felt like she had to be perfect and couldn’t let anyone know how much it was affecting her, plus she didn’t have a huge idea of what she wanted to do entirely or what her purpose there was but SHE FOUND IT
I genuinely thought the film made her situation more shallow. They attributed it to her being bullied and tormented for her race. It shifts her from being hard on her self and not being able to ask for help to someone who is suffering from racism. Both pull on your heartstrings but the former is more interesting imo. It at least explains why she is so withdrawn and full of shame. It's the reason that would make her seem more strong of a woman
@@yiklongtay6029 i agree like this way it’s a relatable reason and makes sense why she feels shame and why she thinks its HER fault, but the film felt like it was like oh racism but it gives nina no reason to blame herself at all

does anyone choke up when this song comes on? i want to make my parents proud but i will never be perfect and i’m terrified of messing up and screwing up the future they’ve created for me.
I get actual goosebumps when listening to Nina sing like that, so powerfully and helpless (HA Hamilton reference). She seems so desperate and is breaking down on every word she says. The harmony of her voice is so beautiful and I can kinda relate to her situation
@@ham5097 well, i’m still learning but I think it’s getting okay, I’m around B2 which I think is good 😅 i just suck at the vocab :| and i think i still have a gringo accent but at least i now understand the play more haha also i can’t keep up when people speak fast so when i talk to people that are Dominicans or Venezuelans i can’t even keep up :|

Once a day because any more will make me worried for my own future
(Bc I have a huge fear of failure please help)
this song speaks to me in so many levels
0:40 actually the idea of the phrase is more like "and if you lose your way, God will help you"
Thank you :) I can’t really change the video now, but I hope people will check the comments for corrections like this!
@𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱 well if Lin himself said it, I can't argue with that
also, a literal translation would be "and if you lose my steps/way, may God bless you"

As someone in her exact position, it can be so hard to remind yourself that 😩

I like how the backing vocals are listed as the 'Community'. You clearly understood this assignment (:
I actually gasped at the G W B thing, was that intentional?
I’m pretty sure! Maybe not the W part, but the G->Gee and B->be were likely written with a purpose. :)
Yeah, that was really cool
I swear I’ll learn Spanish soon 😤
Any luck?

I said it before, I'll say it again, the commentary is far too underrated.

Don’t worry Nina your not the biggest disappointment I know I already fill up that spot
I would argue, but your username proves your point.

Whays the point of putting lyrics if thats what the video is doing
There is something about lyrics on a lyrics video that kinda just- makes me really mad.
