Swapping from NA to MS for my legends collection was the best collection choice I’ve made. I don’t understand why everybody whines about the plastic, it feels totally fine. Also Newage has had issues with paint chipping specifically on their Jetfire and Ultra Magnus, not to mention how awfully loose they get over time. MS solved both those issues with their extremely durable plastic. MS all the way, all aboard the Bruticus Train!
I agree. Problem with Newage materials is Newage designs can’t handle the heavier plastics.. leads to floppy Newage figures.. my Newage Soundwave is a floppy mess.
Some of their plastics are really cheap looking and it doesn't cut properly. This then leaves the figures with plastics that's not clean cut and therefore cheapens the toy. I love Magic Square but, they have to work on their plastic issues. This can clearly be seen in their latest Optimus Prime release which used this cheap plastic nylon, or whatever, and had very little paint. Then they released their Nemesis Prime and they totally changed the plastic and he's completely painted. The look and feel makes Nemesis Prime look way better. Now, they've got the white Optimus Prime on pre-order with the rerelease of the original Optimus Prime. I've already sent an email asking if it's the newer plastic being used and whether it'll have paint. If it does, I'm preordering another Optimus Prime and will probably sell my old version. The plastic just feels so freaking cheap. Don't even get me started on their water decal sets as they're worthless. You literally have to cut out each sticker, soak it, apply the sticker and repeat. Then it's 8 hours of waiting before it's set. Most of the time, the decals doesn't even stay on long enough for it to dry properly. Toyhax decals works way better and seems to stay on pretty darn well even though Magic Square's website states regular stickers don't stick too well.
This is mostly fair, but I could not Disagree more on Altmode and Transformation. The nose cone on the New Age is so Janky looking, and it's so Perfect on the MS that I gotta give the MS the landslide in that. And then I think there's just no question the MS is more Fun in the transformation. Neither is bad, but I could transform the NewAge twice in a row and forget how the arms work into the backpack both times.
it's so awesome they make masterpiece style figures this small and affordable and you're a winner with either one. I agree with who won but it was so close, to me anyway, to be a virtual tie. great comparison.
They’re good quality figures, and given the amount of engineering that goes into them the price is reasonable. But just because they’re not hilariously overpriced like Takara MP’s doesn’t make them “affordable”.
@@frankmarzig1972 Yeah i know. And both look great. I own newage Devastator and ms toys Menasor. Those weren't cheap either. But to put the price of this skyfire into perspective: When i started collecting legends i bought three mft datsun brothers for 20 each. 100 bucks today also gets you the ko version of fanstoys Quietus/cyclonus. I chose him as my purchase this month over one of these skyfires. And i was happy i did. Next time maybe one of these two That or the ft astrotrain ko :)
Pricing on way too many of these is why I generally don't bother. It's outta control, literally a repeat of what went down with 3P CHUG stuff back in the day. And it sucks, because there's a ton to like between NA & MS. (That a lot is sold out and likely out of print doesn't help, either)
I like both. The jet mode is pretty much the same to me. I like the clear plastic on the back and I do prefer the proportions on the MS … I like the bigger head and smaller scale. Also while they make some bold choice for transformation I do prefer MS overall.
I actually chose NA over MS on this one. Toon accuracy makes the toys worse and MS proves it here. I love MS, but they are making the wrong move going for 100% accuracy for toon. My collection will always be a mix of NA and MS as well as others so I win no matter what.
@@mikelacey1651 if you mix it right, pretty good. Most manufacturers don't scale well within their own brand. The cartoon did not scale well from one episode to the next. So for me, it comes down to preference. I fudge scale at times when a figure is simply designed better than the other.
Closer than I thought it would be but fair. The system still works, people need to apply their own weight to the categories and adjust the scoress they disagree with to get a personal score. Its not rocket (or space plane) science.
Honestly, had the magic square one had the same colours as the new age, id say it’s easily the better figure. As of now, still gotta say new age is better, barely. Both sensational toys
I agree with accessment here, my issue here becomes the virtual 2-for-1 in model price in difference. I can own 2 Jetfire's for the price of one. Is that New age model twice as good? No freakin' way. and thus why I think you go with New Age here if you're budgeting at all for your collection. But, if you don't have a that bidget constraint definitely get the New Age. both models are excellent.
"How did you get chocolate on your eye?" Ah yes I had a similar conversation with my son today. 🤣
Yes, thank you @Bobby for leaving that in! 😂
I have no regrets getting the NewAge Jetfire. Awesome figure!
“How did you get chocolate on your eye?”

Duh, Bobby! 🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣

Still over a hundred bucks.

Materials and Sculpt should count for like 10x weighting in the score. If they can't get that right, who cares about the rest?

Great comparison, I still think the Air Guarding is the more accurate of the two, but that is just my opinion,
This to me is very similar to fans toys (new age) vs Takara (magic square).

The Price should have been compared with the H45F Version of Newage, without Diecast. Everything else Great like Always, Thank you
There can only be one!
Call him jetfire all day. I'm a g1 fan it's skyfire.

Sir objectively jetfire is a doofy character
there is a history as to why.
