273k miles on my 2003 LS430 last time the timing was done was 91k miles and nothing else but brakes rotors and oil changes that’s it! Pretty easy cars to work on reminds me of trucks
I got an 03' LS430 myself, every 100K miles, you need Timing belt and water pump replaced, and new Spark Plugs put in(Iridium, not copper), if you want that car to last you

Beautiful car! I have a 98 Lexus LS400 myself with 274,00 miles on it. It recently developed a bad misfire also. The only codes I've been able to pull up are for misfires on the odd numbered cylinders and a random misfire code. No code saying what is causing the misfire. It is intermittent though. Sometimes it will misfire terribly at idle everytime I stop. Other times it runs smooth the whole day. I take the same route everyday which is a 30 minute drive one way. Could it be a VVT solenoid, an Oil Contol Valve, or something else? I've been puzzled by this. It only seems to get better as I drive it more which is weird. I haven't done anything to it.
Had a similar problem on mine when I first bought it. It was the VVT Sensor which I believe is also called the oil control valve. Was easy to replace and solved my issue. I also had a code for the VVT though.

If the oil control valve is sticking it could be intermittent. Maybe it sticks sometimes and othetimes it doesn't. Does oil actually run through it?

I got an ‘02 LS430 with under 50k miles. But now the touchscreen that controls the navigation and a/c is unresponsive. I don’t know what’s my next step. It’s a bummer that the a/c relies on the touchscreen.

This one was recently paved. It was pretty bad before that. It's also an exception on the width. Most of them are proper width, but this one is very little traveled nad is more of a one lane road.
There are many roads like this all over the US but this looks like somewhere in the eastern US because of all the trees and green. I live in Central Maryland just outside of Baltimore and we have many roads like this here.

Timing and everything changed at 150k. Currently has a engine light. Besides it taking premium gas. I love it. But I think it’s time to downgrade. Do you think you would have the same problems on a lower mileage one, like let’s say 100k miles? Would you have to spend a crazy amount of money on maintenance if you got an 04-06 with 100k miles and you drive less than 10k miles per year? I’m going to be a full time college student and I really want this car but I don’t think I can cough up the money for major repairs in a span of 6 months.
The mileage really isn't important. What's important is buying a car that's been taken care of and getting a good throough inspection on it. These are generally well built cars, but age is what mainly causes things like gaskets and seals to go bad. Try to find one from a private party that's owned it for a long time and gave it blank check maintenance. If y ou start off with a well sorted one, it should provide you years of reliable service.
youtoobe169 how often do you think you have to do big repairs if you are all caught up and everything is in good condition. I can do simple jobs like replacing suspension and stuff like that but not deep engine jobs.
@@johntaki2704 Once I did the initial repairs and maintenance on mine, it's been trouble free. There aren't really any major flaws with these cars, so if you start with a good one, you'll most likely be fine.
Mine is a 2004 model with roughly 160k miles. Not sure it is worthwhile to keep a vehicle beyond 200 miles. It is a great car but repairs can be expensive.
They can be expensive, but overall these cars are so well built, it's ususally more minor things that go wrong. It really all comes down to what the car is worth to an individual. The $600 transmission repair on a $1500 car was definitely a judgement call, but I am glad I had that done. I think there are many relatively trouble free miles left beyond the 247K on it now.

That's basically the case, except sometimes when the car is cold and I am first starting out, for a few minutes there will be a rattling in the infotainment screen area. Other than that, perfectly quiet.

Facelift models in good shape with this many miles go for 10-12K. Even pre facelift models with 200K miles people want 7K+ for. Definitely gonna take some patience. I'm giving my son mine but love the car so much I want another one

Depending on the condition of your car, you may have gotten a better deal than me. Mine had rust, faded paint, hail damange, and a bad transmission leak.
I have a 2000 LS 400 with all options (Nakamichi, Air Suspension, Heated Seats and HIDs). It has 204,000 miles and in mint condition (almost looks like new). If I got a dollar every time someone approached me and asked me if it was for sale, I would have a ton of money sitting in the bank right now! 😂 A couple years back someone even offered me 8 grand for it. I politely told them it was not for sale! I've owned it since 2004, when I bought it from the original owner, and it's lived most of its life in sunny California. Not a spec of rust on her!! She's a keeper and going to my grave with me! 😂

Ultra package with pearl paint and creme interior. Small dent in passenger front door. Minimal clearcoat on rear deck lid. $ 3900. Pretty sure I can get it for less.

The valve cover gaskets are very durable. Usually you just need to retorque the valve cover bolts.
That slowed it down for a few months but evetually the leak came back full force.
Have the UL edition. The only anxiety I have is with the air suspension.
Air suspension isn't really as bad as people say it is. Yes, sometimes it does go wrong, but generally it's not a bad system.
This ain't no bmw or Mercedes Benz so you won't have to worry about the air suspension... Last as long as a normal suspension would...
You can always change it to spring suspension if it gets bad.

I just drove mine on a 6 hour trip, and now with 248,500 miles I can say it still drives like brand new also. They are such well built cars!

It has the standard shocks from the factory. I think only the Ultra Luxury trim had the air ride

With this specific model the only big problem is the hydraulic system.

Some cars are worth keeping beyond 200k miles. I have a 2013 Toyota Avalon with 210k miles and it drives like new.

OEM is definitely a good idea. The TB and WP on these is good for at least 180K. I have 150K on mine.

Depending on the condition of your car, you may have gotten a better deal than me. Mine had rust, faded paint, hail damange, and a bad transmission leak.
I have a 2000 LS 400 with all options (Nakamichi, Air Suspension, Heated Seats and HIDs). It has 204,000 miles and in mint condition (almost looks like new). If I got a dollar every time someone approached me and asked me if it was for sale, I would have a ton of money sitting in the bank right now! 😂
A couple years back someone even offered me 8 grand for it. I politely told them it was not for sale! I've owned it since 2004, when I bought it from the original owner, and it's lived most of its life in sunny California. Not a spec of rust on her!! She's a keeper and going to my grave with me! 😂

747-pilot lucky you I had a Gold 99 probably base model since it’s shocks and regular speakers. I have incandescent daytime lights but also hid headlights.

Apparently you are extremely familiar with the area. As your passenger my nuts would be lodged in my throat. Anyway looking at an 02 with 120,000 miles. Ultra package with pearl paint and creme interior. Small dent in passenger front door. Minimal clearcoat on rear deck lid. $ 3900. Pretty sure I can get it for less.
