it's amazing there is no adapter cable for the liftgate connection so you can plug in any aftermarket camera. for newer head units you can use 1080p cameras.
Looks easy enough on the 2011 and up to just tap into the 12v power from the plug and run the cable up to the front and just bypass the stock one. I can't even find updated stock ones that are 720p. the 480p replacement ones look terrible on bigger screens like on android head units.

Just a FYI, I could not get this to work on a 2015 Town and Country. Apparently the newer models are tied to the canbus and you can't just tap into the signal wire and shield.

Is the picture better than the OE camera? Thinking about swapping it out because the pic is so bad, but if it's the head unit I probably won't bother.

I will note that this camera, while able to tilt vertically, would not point down far enough for my liking. I am working on a method to add some angle to the mount to increase the downward view. It is very wide angle, shows me great what is behind, but not very precise when distances to objects (poles, other cars, etc.) Maybe as simple as adding a pair of small angle brackets to the plate mount, might have to make something. Not a huge deal.

That's why a camera mounted in the spoiler is better because you can see the back bumper of the van.

I’m attempting to use your method in a 13 caravan over the next couple days I’m assuming they’d use the same harness even if it didn’t come with a camera stick why would they change the wiring for a possible add on right?

Before the OEM camera went out did you have the backup lines. I have a 2010 and it doesn't have those line. Was wondering if it's the head unit or the camera that make the lines.

there were no lines originally, they are generated by the camera in this case. some I read about have dipswitches to turn the lines on or off, or in one case, an actually wire to cut to turn off the lines. I like them.

Or you could have checked the 10 Amp fuse in the fusebox and replaced it with a good one and you would have been back in business

GPS, we're old school, this model doesn't have it built in (though we had one van with it and didn't care for it)

I have the same problem with my T&C 2016. Sometimes the camera work and sometimes not. Do you have the information or brand of the camera for the replacement?
    Thank you so much.

Those games were sold in department stores several years ago, battery operated, RCA video and single RCA audio line, can still jump through VCR inputs, or even new TVs if they have "AV" or "Component" inputs. I'm sure you can find them used, I had to have it because I threw so many quarters into the stand up machines in the 80s and these are the original ROMS, makes me feel like a kid again. obviously a nice diagnostic helper working analog video in this case.
