      SUPPLICATION AGAINST THE EVIL EYE
Mashallah means ➜ What Allah has willed, this does not protect us from the evil eye ❌
Directly to male or female ➜ Barak Allahu feek - May Allah bless you 🤲🏻 ✔
About a male who is not with you ➜ Allahumma Barik Lahu - May Allah bless him 🤲🏻 ✔
About a female who is not with you ➜ Allahumma Barik Laha - May Allah bless her 🤲🏻 ✔
Allahumma barik lahum wa barik alaihim ➜ O Allah, bless them and bestow blessings upon them 🤲🏻 ✔
To an object such as a car etc: ➜ Barak Allahu Laka Fiha ➜ May Allah bless it for you 🤲🏻 ✔

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymin (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“If a person sees something that he likes, and he fears envy (hasad ) or the evil eye, he should say: Ma sha Allah tabarakAllah, so that the thing looked at will not be affected by the evil eye. Similarly, if a person sees something that he likes in his own wealth, he should say, “Ma sha Allah la quwwata illa Billah,” lest he admire himself and feel proud of this wealth that he admired. So if he says, “Ma sha Allah la quwwata illa Billah,” he will have acknowledged that the source of this blessing is Allah, may He be blessed and exalted.” (Fatawa Nur ‘ala ad-Darb)
    He also said:
“The best, if someone fears that he may have affected someone else with the evil eye because he liked or admired him, is for him to say: Tabarak Allahu ‘alayka (may Allah bless it for you), because the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said to the man who affected his brother with the evil eye: “Why did you not pray for blessing for him?” With regard to saying “Ma sha Allah la quwwata illa Billah,” this should be said by the one who admires his own wealth or property, as the owner of the garden said to his companion: {And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allah} [al-Kahf 18:39].”

    MashaAllah means what Allah willed.
Blessing on someone else is the will of Allah so when someone says MashaAllah upon seeing blessings on others, it is a true statement.
Recipient of a blessing should say Alhamdulillah. Saying MashaAllah would be accurate as well

Even if we have different opinions about this. Lets still be humble and gentle with other muslim brothers and sisters. It is wrong to say "I am right. You know nothing!" to other muslims who have a different opinion. We send a bad message as muslim if we go for each other's throat. Lets remind ourself that we follow the prophet muhammad sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam ways. In the end Allah azzawajal knows best

I think the reason we started saying MashAllah because we think one another as one, one Ummah.

No, it's just become a general habit.
In Indonesia when someone drops something accidentally they usually blurt out "astaghfirullah" even though no sin is involved.
They've diluted the meaning to something else.
Same for mashaAllah. It's just become a general word of expression like saying oh wow how about that.

@@jjryan1352 just because you think they gave it another meaning doesnt mean it is like that.
My mother said that too sometimes.. its because you maybe did something wrong without thinking (fear of maybe dropping something hot or whatever) she said "Allah" of sometimes estağfurullah.
Its as if "IF i said or did something sinfull without knowing i repent immidiately so this accident wont be very harmful for us"
My English is not very strong so excuse me.
But when it isnt wrong to say something like this example.. its OK to make a "habit" out of it. Its natural progression of different people and cultures

@@BrbZrk_G that doesn't make it right. The expressions and meanings are clear.
      Ya Allah
      Alhamdulillah
      Astaghfirullah
      Subhanallah
      MashaAllah
      Allahu Akbar
      Ashukrilillah
      and so many.
Each has a meaning and we should use it the best we can, not make it into a meaningless expression or having a different meaning.
These are not common words borrowed into common usage but have religious meanings.
