Will Ferrel being Zooey Deschanel's Manic Pixie Dream Boy is absolutely hilarious. Have either of you seen Stranger Than Fiction? I think it's a really underrated performance by Will.
Fun fact: Will Ferrell, who is normally a very health-conscious eater, had to consume all of the sugar you see Buddy eating throughout the movie, and suffered constant headaches during filming as a result. Fun fact #2: Ferrell didn't actually do the long burp, it was contributed by voice actor Maurice LaMarche, best known as Brain from Pinky and the Brain.
I didn’t know the first one, somewhat knew about the burp being faked, didn’t know that it was Brain doing it, that would have definitely helped him take over the world before dawn.
George brought up Bender during this video, so I'd add that Maurice LaMarche also voiced a ton of characters in Futurama! Kif, Calculon, Lrrr, Hedonismbot, and a bunch of others.

All of the scenes with will on the streets of NY were unscripted and not casted, including when he ran up to the man who looked like Santa 😂 This film provides a great smile every holiday season. ❤
I can only imagine how the casting call for Peter Dinklage for a role in a movie called "Elf" went down before they told him he wasn't going to play an elf character.
I think living in proximity to Santa and the elves probably imbued him with a little magic. He rode to New York from the North Pole on a sheet of ice without food or warm clothes, has subsisted on nothing but sugar his entire life, only gets 40 minutes of sleep a night, etc.
I don't know if others have mentioned this, but Santa's sleigh falls out of the sky when Buddy loses his Christmas spirit. Pretty much by himself he was generating enough spirit to keep the sleigh flying.
I will always have a soft spot for this movie. My late brother did the art on the skateboard as well as some of the schematics and blueprints in Santa's Workshop.
I don't even think it's the greatest movie, but I'm so utterly on board with it becoming the instant Christmas classic that it is. Can't help but catch the Christmas cheer watching it; and Will Ferrell is just too darn funny in general. (God I hope you guys are watching It's A Wonderful Life this year! Absolute tearjerker in the best way possible.)

He was also in Four Christmases as the ticket agent at the airport. He, Vince Vince Vaughn and Favreau are friends and have a production company together I think. I just saw Peter on TV promoting the new Christmas Story movie and he said he only took the part in Elf if we went uncredited. Not sure why.

People my parents' age tend to look down their nose at this movie, but I think it's a perfect modern Christmas story. You've got this endlessly optimistic guy bringing cheer to a cynical world. Like when he was sitting in class in the North Pole, he was actually sitting about 10 feet in front of his classmates and on a stand but the scenery was done in monotone colors with diffused light to make what we see

It’s awesome watching reactors try and figure out what kind of movie this is going to be, then figuring out it’s a completely wholesome and adorable comedy, while still appealing to adults. It’s really a perfect Christmas movie.
This is a classic just because a movie doesn’t go by real world logic doesn’t make it bad, Santa can’t go to every house in the world in one night so any movie with Santa is breaking logic

The voice of the polar bear cub was provided by Ray Harryhausen. Harryhausen. This man was one of the greatest animators in stop motion films like Jason And The Argonauts, The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms and so much more.Also as an actor I have worked with James Caan (Las Vegas) and Will Ferrell (Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back).
I remember seeing this one in theaters when it first came out. The theater was almost empty and I was only there on a weekday matinee because I was a Will Ferrell. By the time the book squished the little characters during the opening titles, I knew I was gonna like this movie a lot.
The elf with the glasses and six white puffs on his jacket is the actor who played Ralphie in A Christmas story, he had gone on to be a successful movie producer including this movie and Iron man.
Two TV legends in this film: Edward Asner as Santa (he was on the Mary Tyler Moore Show) and Bob Newhart as the head elf, who had two very successful TV shows and, prior to that, a very successful career as a stand-up comedian. I'm pretty sure the snowman was meant to look like Leon Redbone, a singer-songwriter and musician specializing in jazz, blues, and Tin Pan Alley classics in the 70s and 80s. Google his picture and I think you'll agree. He even sounded a little like Leon.

The “Snow Guy” and all the elf costumes and creatures were a reference to the old 1964’s “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. The actor/singer Burl Ives played the “Snowman”. FYI-ST. Nicholas (Santa Claus) was an actual bishop from Myra Turkey born in the 3rd century. There’s a church there as well (the church of St Nicholas). The voice of the polar bear cub was provided by Ray Harryhausen. Harryhausen. This man was one of the greatest animators in stop motion films like Jason And The Argonauts, The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms and so much more.Also as an actor I have worked with James Caan (Las Vegas) and Will Ferrell (Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back).

I remember seeing this one in theaters when it first came out. The theater was almost empty and I was only there on a weekday matinee because I was a Will Ferrell. By the time the book squished the little characters during the opening titles, I knew I was gonna like this movie a lot.
The elf with the glasses and six white puffs on his jacket is the actor who played Ralphie in A Christmas story, he had gone on to be a successful movie producer including this movie and Iron man.

I was thinking that Santa sounds so familiar and I look it up, that's Carl from Up! I saw Elf before Up and I didn't notice. 😅 RIP Ed Asner.
Two TV legends in this film: Edward Asner as Santa (he was on the Mary Tyler Moore Show) and Bob Newhart as the head elf, who had two very successful TV shows and, prior to that, a very successful career as a stand-up comedian. I'm pretty sure the snowman was meant to look like Leon Redbone, a singer-songwriter and musician specializing in jazz, blues, and Tin Pan Alley classics in the 70s and 80s. Google his picture and I think you'll agree. He even sounded a little like Leon.
This guy is talking about logic in a movie about Santa Claus raising an abandoned human baby with his elves in the north pole. Let's not forget about the talking Narwhal....Logic

The “Snow Guy” and all the elf costumes and creatures were a reference to the old 1964’s “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. The actor/singer Burl Ives played the “Snowman”. FYI-ST. Nicholas (Santa Claus) was an actual bishop from Myra Turkey born in the 3rd century. There’s a church there as well (the church of St Nicholas). Found it by accident while stationed in Turkey while in the USAF. A number of original Christian churches are in Turkey. Cheers
