  • At the end of September 2023 myself and a friend embarked on an overnight bikepacking journey with a twist. This overnighter took in a ferry crossing and three countries.
We started at the ferry port of Dover in the UK before crossing the channel to the port of Dunkirk. A couple of hours later we entered Belgium. We had lunch in the wonderful town of Veurne and maybe a Belgian beer or two before ending the day just over the Dutch border at Retranchement where we camped in the lovely Wachtluis campsite. After arrival we setup camp, showered and headed into Cadzand for some well-earned sustaining pizzas and maybe a couple of beers...
Day two was a case of heads down and making our way back in time for the ferry home. An epic adventure. I was extremely impressed with the cycling infrastructure in Belgium.
I hope you enjoy the video!

Looks like a hard but enjoyable trip. The cycling culture in Europe is certainly something to be envious of. Particularly on my doorstep...I will over there next year. Thanks for sharing 👍

I loved that trip. Where are you off to next year?

@bodmacity oh,. Well I'm only an hour from Dover. So a slightly more leisurely weekend across the channel ! I attempted the King Alfred's Way in the summer (on my own,.camping) and got about 3/4s away around. I did not realise it but I "Bonked out" a few times and I had to cut it short. So I need to be a bit more realistic 🤣. Next year I will be better perpaired ! Atb Grant 👍.

@@grantswheelstohills Nice, KAW is on my ride list. I'm hoping to do it next year. I may do it in two trips because it's one of the longer Cycling UK rides.
