Dunwich Dynamo 2022
This is a blast from the near past. I was umming and ahhing whether to post this as I was getting a bit moany on the way back due to the intense heat. But here goes warts and all...
So to summarise the DD is a yearly event which starts in Hackney, London and ends in Dunwich, Suffolk. The twist being that it is an overnight event. The was my third DD. In previous years I took the coach back to London but in 2022 I left things a little late so decided to book a hostel then head back the day after. What could go wrong I thought...
After a nights sleep at the lovely YHA in Blaxhall I head back to London. What I didn't count on was the hottest day of the year so far at a sweltering 37 degrees centrigrade.
Did I make it back? Watch to find out.

Lewisham Alps - a hilly South London circular ride - the perfect Winter warmer!
มุมมอง 937 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a local circular route I ride whenever I need to prepare my legs for a long ride. The beauty of this ride is that it takes just over an hour to complete but manages to cram in 400 metres of elevation. A couple of these rides in a week and I'm more than ready to take on a 100 miler! The route takes in 8 iconic hills around the London Borough of Lewisham. It is a mix roads and leafy parks...
Bedlam in Belgium...and other places. 230km overnighter taking in four countries

At the end of September 2023 myself and a friend embarked on an overnight bikepacking journey with a twist. This overnighter took in a ferry crossing and three countries. We started at the ferry port of Dover in the UK before crossing the channel to the port of Dunkirk. A couple of hours later we entered Belgium. We had lunch in the wonderful town of Veurne and maybe a Belgian beer or two befor...
What to do when you want to ride but the weather is awful…
มุมมอง 11910 หลายเดือนก่อน
I needed to go to the shops to pick up some items for a DIY project. I decided, no matter what the weather was looking like, I would take my bike. Here in the UK we have been experiencing near biblical rain over the past couple of weeks. As I opened my front door, true to form, the heavens opened in a monumental way, mocking me and testing my resolve. What did I do?
50km Bikepacking overnighter along the River Lea to Toad Abode Campsite

I decided at the last minute to ride up the River Lea and camp overnight at a lovely spot near the village of Widford. This was with the intention of trying out my new Alpkit Tarpstar 1. It was a wonderful weekend. The campsite was quiet and deserted, the weather was perfect. A time to unwind and chill out. I took my Kona Sutra touring bike and new tent. Alpkit Tarpstar 1 Tent - first impressions

I received my Alpkit Tarpstar 1 tent a few weeks ago and have been itching to get it pitched for a review. So here it is! I pitched the tent in my garden on a sunny day so can't comment on its performance in inclement weather. Enjoy the video, I hope it helps you make your purchasing decision.
Cantii Way - 234km two day bikepacking trip
มุมมอง 951ปีที่แล้ว
The weather was lovely, perfect for a two day solo ride with an overnighter at Pete's Field Campsite near Folkestone. The Cantii Way has been designed by Cycling UK and takes in quiet roads, cycle paths, bridleways and forest tracks. Perfect for exploring the Kent coast and beyond. I started in Wye and took a clockwise route along the coast and down to the bleak majesty of Dungeness before head...
Failed Rebellion Way Bikepacking Tour around Norfolk. Rain, wind and snow!
มุมมอง 219ปีที่แล้ว
A three day adventure around Norfolk in late March 2023. We battled 40mph headwinds and inclement weather including snow! We decided on the second day to cut out the north-west section and head straight to out campsite at Sheringham. It was an experience! On the third day my Hammerhead Karoo2 died and we had to rely on Google Maps to get us to Norwich.

I would say the porch area would be too narrow and the sides slop quite a lot. Something to try when I next use it to verify this!

I’ve used the Tarpstar 1 a couple of times now. I’m 5 foot 8 inches and I find the inner to be spacious enough. I still have to get to grips with a perfect pitch though! The last time I pitched it the inner was a little flappy and rather close to my face which was a little annoying. This may have been because the ground was uneven. I did try and tighten everything up but to no avail.
