    Great job. But wouldn’t the springtails climb out?

    • @anythingants

      They tend not to as they prefer the damp conditions in the soil!

    Where does all the water go from watering the plants over time ?....I can't see any true drainage

    • @anythingants
      @anythingants  ปีที่แล้ว

      I just wait between waterings so it doesn’t flood!

    ive been thinking about making some sort of a self sustaining terrarium or one with very limited care needed and one that doesn't need an extremely consistent temperature. do you have any tips to keep in mind? also is there anything larger than some isopods that would thrive with limited care?

    • @anythingants
      @anythingants  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure to have a good clean up crew, so lots of spring tails, and don’t worry when the terrarium gets moody for the first few days - it’s completely Norma 😄. As for larger animals the only thing that comes to mind is probably some millipedes, I know you can but some exotic ones online that can get quite large, and they’re not too expensive 👍

  • @321353096
    @321353096 ปีที่แล้ว

    What temperature do they need to be in

    • @anythingants
      @anythingants  ปีที่แล้ว

      Anywhere between 22-28 Celsius is ideal for them!

  • @MaybeTiberius
    @MaybeTiberius 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    i dont know. i really dont know what i want to say about something like that. yeah cool idea, nice build... but you also have to think about the animals too. 45l really is not alot of space at all especially for vampire crabs. its even below the minimum requirement and i really dont think working with minimum requirement is a good idea to begin with. just because an animal can survive in x liters, does not mean you should do that. i rather like people do more than they need.

    Need to work on the volume levels from when you speak and when you play music. Either I can't hear you talking or the music is blowing out my ear drums.

    Great video. You would be better off not smearing the silicon. Apply it let it dry,use a blade to cut it.

    • @anythingants
      @anythingants  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I just wanted to make sure it would be watertight, and I forgot to use tape for clean beads 😄

  • @charlietaylor7265

    How much did it cost(if u dont mind me asking)

    • @anythingants
      @anythingants  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you exclude the crabs, then around £50-£70, as I got the tank cheap second hand (£10) and kept costs as low as possible, the crabs were £10 each so they pushed it to around £100

  • @mass1387
    @mass1387 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice Hardscape and setup but your tank is too small for vampire crabs. I started with 30x30x45cm 1 year ago with 3 crabs inside and one year later, i had to Switch on an large one (90x45x45cm) because i had 15 adults crabs and more than 25 babies inside ! Also, this is not a good Idea to put some shrimps because crabs like hunting ! Don't forget to check your hydrometry parameter to be sure that it is more than 80%. This is very important to keep crabs alive for a longtime period.😊

    They using a credit card to get the silicon lines cleaner
