I put most of my small floating plant trimmings right into my house plant pots. When I repot a plant I leave extra room for this kind of thing. The bigger stuff goes into the garden and some of it feeds my invertebrate cultures. I feel you. I cannot fathom to just throw it away.
Hm, as far as trimmings go, you could make an entire tank dedicated to plants and keep growing extras. Or perhaps start an isopod culture (or even a compost?) and give them all the excess plant bits to eat. Idk how possible either of those are for you but just some ideas!
I'm absolutely mesmerized by your tanks! As for what to do with excess trimmings, I usually feed them to my P. clarkii crayfish if I don't plan to reuse them. With plants like red root floater or salvynia I would just donate that to the pet store I work at. I can't stand to throw away trimmings either. Stem plants just get their trimmings returned to them.
I can tell you witch plants I use in most of my setups. Land plants: Pathos, tradiscantia zebrina, ferns, fitonia, moss, ficus pumila quercifolia. The list could go on but I don’t really know the name of the rest haha. Water plants: Bucephelandra kedagan, Anubias nana petit, weeping moss, Christmas moss, salvinia, Hygrophila pinnatifida, Hope that this if helpful 😊
what i like to do is have a container or small aquarium, and just shove all the excess trimmings in their, with minimal soil, that way i have plants at the ready, always
how long did it take to get baby crabs? I have 7 in my paludarium they alll have their own areas and burrows both high and low and ive yet to see any babies, been quite a few months now
Yes if the lid is tight with very little ventilation there’s condensation on the glass. But if you have a lid like on a exo terra enclosure there’s no problem. That sounds great 80 % land 20 % water is recommended 👌 hope it turns out majestic 😀

Thanks for the tips! I’m going to give most of the floating plants to my LFS so he can feed theme to the gold fish 😀
You could always sell the trimmings or give them to your LFS.
Yes good idea 😀

I throw away like 1kg of salvinia every 2,3 weeks, love how it keeps nitrites under control, I would love to compost it, but not in an apartment...
It grows so fast ! I agree it’s a very useful plant. I’m gonna give it to my local fish shop. He feeds floating plants to the gold fish 😀
@@terraquaman I have goldfish, but they don't really eat it, maybe because the are fed enough... They nibble a bit, but bit even enough to kill it
This tank looks amazing!❤
Thank you very much ❤️

I bought a pair in September and august I had babies. I think I got very lucky. Maybe the female was already pregnant when I bought her.
Do you have problems with fogged windows? We would like to use an aquarium for vampire crabs around. 1/3 water and 2/3 land

You should make a tank for an octopus
Doesn't your gust get frightened when they see the sentipide?
Haha yes some people 😊
@@terraquaman I would have been for the first time
Gissar på att du bor i Malmö. Vill du sälja några krabbor till en granne isåfall? 😁
Jag bor lite utanför. För tillfället har jag inga till salu. Men eventuellt i framtiden 😊
Same as for baby crabs
you should sell your plants as it will help pay for costs towards supporting you hobby
Yeah I will definitely do so 😆
