Her instrument is called " Tsugaru Jamisen" which is a kind of Shamisen.
The characteristic of " Tsugaru jamisen" is how to play it like hitting Bachi in her right hand to strings and that makes strong sounds, so it has thicker rod than ones of usual shamisens.
The usual shamisen is used for accompaniments, but "Tsugaru jamisen" has songs which are composed of only ones.

You said "that's how you start a song), not exactly. That's how they started the entire concert. Most western acts use opening acts to get the crowd amped-up before they play, Wagakki has no need for that.
I encourage you to react to Rin' - Fuhen, and their song Sakura sakura. Rin' is a 3 female member band that sings, and play Japanese traditional instruments. I first discovered them through the anime series; Samurai 7 where their song Fuhen, is the ending theme song. Of course these songs are older so video quality is not the best, and the band went on a hiatus for some years until 2019. Please check them out.

On the website of the Japanese government (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the Dutch travel ban level is the third of four levels, and a travel suspension recommendation has been issued. What's more, the entire region of the Netherlands is subject to the restriction, including Amsterdam. So, does lockdown or the like make your life inconvenient? I am worried so.
In Japan, the number of infections has decreased from about a month and a half ago, and the level has remained low throughout Japan, but there are still concerns.
