    Commentors have (very correctly) noted that CD is 7% max, not the 8% I said in the video.
    I personally group CD with the +8's (as described in this video) because, from an efficiency perspective, it most benefits monsters that don't get build off of efficiency.
    For exanple, Khali, Covenant, and Lushen all need a ton of cd/cr/atk - but aren't build for long fights. Conversely, your Bastet or Triana probably have 25-35cr and lower attacks, and you don't benefit nearly as much from CD on them. So grouping CD with the +8's helps balance this out a little bit and speeds up the process.
    I chose not to explain this in the video and just say "8%" because I was trying to make it shorter. There's definitely a learning curve here - I should have discussed this, and I apologize for leaving that out!!
    ----
    This video explains a simply and quick way to ESTIMATE rune efficiency.
    And it provides the foundation for a much more important topic: how good can your rune be after you've gemmed and grinded it?
    Rune Efficiency is an estimate of how good your rune "can be" compared to a "perfect" rune, and it's widely used to compare runes against each other. This video explains a system I call 'hits' to quickly calculate (within 1-2%) a rune's efficiency, usually in just a second or two, using only basic arithmetic.
    The hits system does NOT replace rune efficiency calculators - it's just a way to help you quickly sort and discard large amounts of runes and (more importantly) it is helpful when trying to figure out what a rune's efficiency WILL BE once it's been gemmed and grinded.
    A note to the commentors: efficiency is not the only deciding factor in a rune's quality, but it's a useful tool. Efficiency calculators and SWOP can tell you a rune's efficiency, but they cannot tell you how good a rune will be after you've gemmed away a stat.
    The sequel to this video is Rune Potential:

    This is great! Thanks so much. Your methodology for showing the calculations as text, while explaining how it works, helps soooo much. The concept of 9 hits is so well explained and easy to follow. The way you do calculations and don't get stuck on the details is very practical and efficient. Honestly, I really don't care if my rune is 85 or 87 % efficiency but I do care to know if the rune's potential is garbage (e.g. 84%) or worth keeping (e.g. 90-100% before gem/grind). SUBSCRIBED and looking forward to more content. (PS what is Xennial? Are you just spinning the word Millennial? :)

      Awesome AT, I really appreciate the comments!! Seriously, it means a lot to know that the system helps! :) Since you're subscribed, you might want to check the "Rune Potential" video which is the follow up to this one. (More specifically, I did this one to lay the groundwork for the rune potential one).
      Xennials are the generation between Gen-X and Millennials. It describes a short (like 4, 5 year long) generation where modern technology started developing when we were kids - so we grew up with it, but weren't born with it. In other words, we're the old people who still play video games hahaha.

    Hey Xeninial, thanks for the video! I really like the aspect that this is just simple math used to determine the efficiency. I had one question. Generally speaking it seems speed holds a higher value than other stats while resistance holds a lower value. Is there some sort of mathematical way you account for this?

    • @XennialGamer
      @XennialGamer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heya Michael, a complete answer to this is a bit long for TH-cam comments :P This was my first video, and I plan to remake it soon with way better explanations. For now, the shorter answer is that you're right, sped > res, however it would be hard to quantify mathematically because it's more about stat synergy than efficiency when comparing stat values directly. For example res and cd USUALLY don't fit together, and cd runes are best with cr and atk, while res runes are best with spd and hp. So a rune with resistance and speed and hp, even with low efficiency, is worth way more than a high efficiency rune with cr and resistance.
      This is probably a bit confusing - sorry like I said, it's just a complex answer for TH-cam comments :p

    A really good video to estimate your runes potential and efficiency, but I still have one question though, let's say I have runes (hero) which only had 3 substates and if somehow that substate hits its maximum number (unlikely), for example, atk% 8, CRDM 8 and speed 6, in total I only have 3 hits. So should I keep it or not?

    • @XennialGamer
      @XennialGamer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So remember the starting substats count as "hits" also. In your example, if the rune started with say max atk%, cd% and spd, and then landed 1 maximum inscription of each, it would be 6 hits (with 1 more inscription to come). That's a very solid rune :)
      One thing to note - CD max is 7%. This was my first video and I made some bad choices in editing haha. I've explained in greater detail in pinned comments, but basically I group CD with the +8 max stats because I value it less. CD doesn't have as much value unless the monster also has high cr%. And for monsters with high cr%, we often look for different types of runes that have less need of efficiency and more need of raw "power" (i.e. high cr/cd/atk%).

    thx for the vid, this makes sense! When a rune drops from GB10, it sells for a certain amt of mana. Do you know how initial rune efficiency equates to the selling value of mana stones? ie, if a rune could sell for 20,000 mana stones then it's initial efficiency is X % (without grinds). My biggest question is: "Rune with 18k mana stone selling value is not worth keeping, and anything above is worth rolling" Or, should i roll it and count hits, then evaluate afterwards?

    • @XennialGamer
      @XennialGamer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed it Riley. :-) good thought too, I've never really thought about it much beyond knowing that 6* are worth more than five*, and heroes are worth more than rare, etc. It'd be awesome if we could judge off of value!!
      But a big part of selecting your runes is assessing their potential as well as their efficiency. Which was actually another video i did :p In a lot of cases the rune may not be efficient at first, but after you use a gem and some grindstones it can become great.

  • @Sinnersslayer
    @Sinnersslayer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You talking about efficiency of the rune.
    What about the substats synergy?
    If I get a legend 6* rune with inate substat and max rolls in res + flat hp + acc + spd, is this rune still worth keeping?
    The rune @ 9:24 is a great example. Why would You want to keep such rune?

    • @XennialGamer
      @XennialGamer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah this was my first actual video hehe. I've learned a lot better how to express these topics since then. I'll have a new keep/sell video coming out soon (I recorded it tonight but it needs editing etc. so in the next few days) and I actually talked a lot more about rune synergy in that one.

    • @XennialGamer
      @XennialGamer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      BTW the rune at 9:24 is actually a great rune. Gem the resistance for hp% and it's high efficiency (100%+ after grinds) for a bruiser type, or, gem in CD and it's a very solid rune for PVE :)

    I don't know if anyone can answer this, but... What do you mean about "innate stat"? Is it the built-in stat (the smaller font below the main stat) on the rune?

    • @XennialGamer
      @XennialGamer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      An innate stat is one that appears ABOVE all the other stats nad just below the main stat. You can tell a rune has an innate stat when it's named like "Quick Despair Rune" has innate speed but "Despair Rune" has no innate.

    Why we chose to tripple roll into spd when crit rate,spd and crit damage appear in purple runes? I though crit rate and crit damage ungrindable?

    • @XennialGamer
      @XennialGamer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sorry Nick I didn't completely understand your question :( But any rune with really high triple rolls in CR or CD can be useful (think of Lushens), and triple roll speed is always useful :)

    • @nick-th6bs
      @nick-th6bs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Xennial, i m overlooked. Now i know spd is more priority than crt rate and crit damage. Low crit rate and crit damage can get support from other runes slot that got huge number on crit rate and crit damage

    isnt max crit damage roll 7, not 8??

    • @XennialGamer
      @XennialGamer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Heya Noya, yes CD is definitely a max of 7. This was my first video, and I was trying not to make it too long and I made the bad decision not to explain this part LOL.
      Crit damage is the type of stat that doesn't matter much for efficiency. Like, if you have a +25cd rune it's going to be used on a Lushen or Baleygr type monster - where you're more concerned with total damage than total efficiency. On the other hand, +11crit damage does not fit well on support-type monsters such as Harmonia, who will usually have very low crit rate so do not benefit as much from crit damage.
      Because of that, I value CD less, so I want it to count for less in the efficiency formula. So to make the math easier and reduce the "value" of CD, I count it as a max of 8, even though the real max is 7. Hope that makes sense! :)

    I was just curious about how people calculate efficiency because I have my own way to do it and I have found interesting things. For example, here you say that 1 hit is 7% so if the rune has 8 hits the rune is 93% efficiency. This my friend, is incorrect. The two percentages are totally different and they can't interact. I know math can be hard for many people so I will explain. 9 hits = 100% efficiency (perfect rune), if your rune has 8 hits it means is 1 hit away from the perfect rune. 1 hit is an average of 7%, but attention!! is 7% of stats not 7% efficiency. Two stats have 6% as a maximum roll, the rest have 8% so 7% is an average, but we are talking about stats percentage not efficiency percentage. So how we calculate that then?! Easy, we all know 1 is the 10% of 10, so it can't be the 7% of 9. We are talking about efficiency percentage here, nothing to do with the stats 7%. To calculate what percentage represent a number from another you have to multiply the part per 100 and divided by the total. So 1x100=100 100/9=11.11... to the infinite. So 1 represents 11.1% of 9. Which means that if your rune is missing a hit, your rune is only 88.8% efficient (89%). That simple, that cruel, that real. Hope you guys understood. Good luck with the summons!!! Cheers!

    • @XennialGamer
      @XennialGamer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually rune efficiency is based on a calculus formula, "Barion's Rune Efficiency" - you can google it. My process here is just a simplification based on the results of that formula. As part of the formula, the worst possible 6* rune has a baseline of ~51% efficiency (assuming no flat rolls, or it gets into the 40's).
      If you calculate the efficiency of a rune with 9 max rolls it comes out as 100%. Calculate with 8 max rolls it comes out as 93% based on the efficiency formula, which is the most commonly used measurement system in SW. It's not exact - that's rounded off numbers for simplification (for exact, I would use the Summoners War Optimizer :))

    What I got from this is
    1 make sure your rune is legendary
    2 make sure all it’s stats are in the teens or atleast 10% with 1 or 2 double rolls
