Key first performed Chemicals at a live fashion show before he even released the album and that shook us shawols like nothing else!! Also, Key mentioned that the song 'Imagine' was specifically written with his international fans in mind, since English is a more universal language in most countries. Taemin has mentioned multiple times that he would have loved to have "Imagine" as a song on one of his solo albums, because he enjoys it so much. Key was also a little disappointed at the time when international fans would choose another song off the album over Imagine. In addition to that, this album came out about a year or so after jonghyun had passed and Key mentioned that 'I will fight' was a dedication to Jonghyun. Which is also why the last lines of "This life" hit so hard since it is the last song on his album, "You only live once". Key is a musical mastermind and he puts so much of himself into each song he releases. I love how genuine his music style is, that it fits his voice and personality so well. Key performed This Life during his concert in Manila this year. It was the song that united all audiences - both shawols and NCTzens. He practically turned the concert into a party. It was so beautiful when everyone was just jumping and vibing with the song. Love this so much

As for, this life, the song is about something he cherished most when he was young. Memories that he does not want to forget (it's more about his memories with shinee) and for the people he loves the most that he wants to keep forever in his life. Kibum has his own personality and stubbornness. The words he couldn't say so he wrote them all in a letter, just like a diary. Words that cannot be expressed in words and maybe the words he couldn't express to jonghyun before.
This Life is one of my favorite songs of his. I interpret the lyrics as a look back at his life, when he was young and left his old life (when he was still basically a child) to come to Seoul and fight for his dream of being a kpop star. He was on a cloud as a child, probably not knowing how challenging it would be, living off of his dreams, and he rowed that lonely boat (i.e. he struggled on his own) to become one more flame amongst all the other flames of idols. But the biggest struggle is against himself, so he must keep the mentality that he can make it and be "first". The "festival" is either life itself (imo lighting fireworks means not living without a spark, not succumbing to a quiet life out of the limelight, but being bold in his life) and/or he may be referring to his time as an idol, after his trainee days, when he can explode onto the kpop stage and be a bright flame. I can't wait for Gasoline!
I love how the album is connected by the theme of honesty and facing your true emotion. This was actually the first album I became obsessed with when I was getting into SHINee (and kpop as a whole). Taemin caught my attention with Move and his dance practices, but then, when I started checking out SHINee, I really loved One of Those Nights and I Will Fight and started listening to the Face album. There were few weeks when I listened to it almost on repeat. Then I discovered it had a repackage :)
Omg I love this so much. The performances of Imagine and Chemicals really are a good reminder of how good a singer, dancer, and performer Kibum is! He's so theatrical! The man was born for the stage.
Back in the days jonghyun and key were the most popular ship, they had a special friendship and key said that jonghyun was the closest to him, so when "i will fight" came out shortly after what happened with jjong, I swear I cried a river, it's a super beautiful and special song for kibum and shawol, he only sang it twice if i'm not mistaken but both times were really emotional

Key's albums are so iconic! I love every song so much! Even The Duty of Love was my favorite for a while. Now Imagine took that place. And the lyrics are so great that make me cry every time. Yeeeeii finally we have something more from KEY! As with BAD LOVE, I hope that GASOLINE leaves us shocked. From SHINee he is also my bias, and I have to say that I have an obsession with his music, Kibum is a complete artist, he always gives us some very unique concepts where he leaves his essence captured. Definitely I Will Fight is one of my favorites, the part of "The pages you couldn't finish... I agree that the Gasoline mood sampler bgm might be a song on the new album. But many people did notice Helium on the Bad Love mood sampler and Key clarified later on (but still before Bad Love was released) via livestream that it wasn't going to be the title song.

I'm glad you finally got to react to this album! I'd been looking forward to your opinions on it and we pretty much agreed on everything, both in terms of favorite songs musicly and favorite songs lyric-wise. Of course this is just in case you're interested and have the time, but there's also a japanese EP with 4 new songs + the jp version of One of Those Nights. As for Gasoline, the schedule poster shows on the 26th we'll get a studio version of a VCR song released only during his Beyond Live last year so that's a great bonus to look forward too

Love this!! Btw your hair looks good! 58:36 it's because Key was preparing to go to military service right after he released the album. Maybe that's why some songs have nostalgic lyrics. I think Key was very brave to get deeply involved in making the album, especially since SM doesn't easily approve of their own artists' lyrics or music. He must have fought hard for it and that's one of the reasons why I admire him so much. Yeeey! I've been waiting for this to drop! I'm glad you finally did and that you loved it! I think the first song from his solo music that I heard was Imagine and I fell in love with it immediately. Chemicals and I will Fight are definitely some of faves, too... along with This Life (You should watch fancams of the Begin Again concert he did here last May. Turned that con into a festival is what he did 😌). Anyways.... this is soooo good! You should also watch the Chemicals stage on the Charms fashion show. It'll wreck you. 😆 Gasoline is gonna be epic! Ah, you found one of her lyrics at least (I'm writing this as I'm watching the video). Key loves retro, rock, glam rock, David Bowie, 80s (and 70s music more than 90s I think) - he's said that. In Good Good he said he was singing off-time? I didn't understand but not on the beat, I think he meant, just slightly after it would normally make sense.
Imagine was his song for iShawol on the first album (like he has Helium English version on Bad Love - and Another Life on Gasoline [which we know because it was a VCR in his Key Groks Keyland Beyond live]) - that is one of his performance heavy choreos. When SHINee did THE RINGTONE before DCM came out every member had a solo, that was Kibum's (Taemin really loves the song). I think with Chemicals, Kibum meant Pheromones. Skrillex worked on the song, too (who I gather is rather famous). Your rections are always so fun :) I always love key's voice so much and i think his solo music is so unique to himself, in sound and concept. If you can find the time, I have a couple recommendations for music videos to watch :) Yoojung and KB from onlyoneof have each put out a music video with a connected storyline, and yoojungs solo sounds kind of like if key and troye sivan collabed lol. KBs is more tropical sounding kinda? both songs are so good and the music videos are very cute :) They're called Begin and Be Free. they've dedicated the songs to their lgbt fans as well! each of the other members will be putting out solos as well, but theyre doing one a month, and junjis will be out at the end of the month and probably doesnt connect to the other two so you dont have to worry about it

I'm glad you finally got to react to this album! I'd been looking forward to your opinions on it and we pretty much agreed on everything, both in terms of favorite songs musicly and favorite songs lyric-wise. Of course this is just in case you're interested and have the time, but there's also a japanese EP with 4 new songs + the jp version of One of Those Nights. As for Gasoline, the schedule poster shows on the 26th we'll get a studio version of a VCR song released only during his Beyond Live last year so that's a great bonus to look forward too

58:36 it's because Key was preparing to go to military service right after he released the album. Maybe that's why some songs have nostalgic lyrics.
I think Key was very brave to get deeply involved in making the album, especially since SM doesn't easily approve of their own artists' lyrics or music. He must have fought hard for it and that's one of the reasons why I admire him so much. He has a clear vision of who he is as an artist and defends it with all his soul.

Yeeey! I've been waiting for this to drop! I'm glad you finally did and that you loved it! I think the first song from his solo music that I heard was Imagine and I fell in love with it immediately. Chemicals and I will Fight are definitely some of faves, too... along with This Life (You should watch fancams of the Begin Again concert he did here last May. Turned that con into a festival is what he did 😌). Anyways.... this is soooo good! You should also watch the Chemicals stage on the Charms fashion show. It'll wreck you. 😆

I think you should react to some more loona in honor of their 4th anniversary !! I know the lore might seem intimidating but most fans dont really keep up with it. All you really need to know is that each of the 3 units live in a different plane/world and they're trying to unite the whole group. That's all !

Ah, you found one of her lyrics at least (I'm writing this as I'm watching the video). Key loves retro, rock, glam rock, David Bowie, 80s (and 70s music more than 90s I think) - he's said that. In Good Good he said he was singing off-time? I didn't understand but not on the beat, I think he meant, just slightly after it would normally make sense.
Imagine was his song for iShawol on the first album (like he has Helium English version on Bad Love - and Another Life on Gasoline [which we know because it was a VCR in his Key Groks Keyland Beyond live]) - that is one of his performance heavy choreos. When SHINee did THE RINGTONE before DCM came out every member had a solo, that was Kibum's (Taemin really loves the song).

I think with Chemicals, Kibum meant Pheromones. Skrillex worked on the song, too (who I gather is rather famous). From w hat I remember This Life is his personal concert stadium closer song, he wants the hype to build and people to shout along, but he also wants the song to be his manifesto about what he feels people should remember about him and what is important to him as a credo.
SO good! But I have to say, I really, really love Bad Love. It's different from Face in only good ways. As for Hologram, City Girl is the best, that is all please and thank you. Also, definitely watch all the fancams for his tour(s)...his outfits in Japan - whoo!

If you can find the time, I have a couple recommendations for music videos to watch :)
Yoojung and KB from onlyoneof have each put out a music video with a connected storyline, and yoojungs solo sounds kind of like if key and troye sivan collabed lol. KBs is more tropical sounding kinda? both songs are so good and the music videos are very cute :) They're called Begin and Be Free. they've dedicated the songs to their lgbt fans as well!
each of the other members will be putting out solos as well, but theyre doing one a month, and junjis will be out at the end of the month and probably doesnt connect to the other two so you dont have to worry about it
