    Thank you for releasing the larger fish! Please talk more about selective harvest and how it can help our fisheries in future episodes! My general rule of thumb is if I want to keep fish I will keep the average size fish of that body of water.

    I always enjoy the shots when you keep the camera oriented on the flasher so we can see the fish mark approach the bait mark.

    By the looks of it, they are inside Star island on Cass Lake, little lake filled with panfish.

      I thought maybe outside of the mouth of Kitchie on Cass Lake. He said that they’re outside of a Basin...deepest part of the lake. Which would be near the mouth of Kitchie near the 120ft hole.

      Been hitting Cass Lake for close to 45 years and I've never seen a Crappie caught, but never tried for them. Was there at the beginning of September and the only thing that we caught were crayfish and my mom, who for some reason catches a clam every time we go fishing regardless of the lake didn't catch one of those but instead got a Zebra Mussel. Hell, now that I think about it the damn Rock Bass weren't even biting and I've caught them using a cigarette butt as bait. Too many non-native species these days. The crayfish are taking over the whole lake I think.

    I have a question for anyone that knows the answer. I was fishing this small private lake that no one fishes, I found crappies in 40ft, and they weren't biting anything, but when they did they were only 3 inches. So do you think the bigger slabs would be shallower in that little lake?

    • @buttass7646
      @buttass7646 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe there are no big crappies in there, if it's a tiny lake, it might have been effected by winter kill. So the only fish left are the tiny ones.

      if there is a weed line find it. and he is right. maybe they just arent big. but i doubt that they are ALL 3 inches. So find the weedline. Crappies do not like to bite as much in the middle of the day. so bring a lamp and camp out

    • @mnoutdoors7909
      @mnoutdoors7909 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lake gets up to 45 ft deep, so I'm not so sure about the winter kill. I will definitely try finding the weed line.
