Poorly molded body kit slapped on with glop and a jigsaw by a chain smoking guy that looks like he wakes up in his clothes everyday. It just goes to show that when a car company builds too many of the same model eventually buyers get so bored anything goes.
Akira Nakai's personal RWB, the Nohra (yellow one) stopped by my dealership the other day! I have pictures with the original plate, and the new owner! I'll tell you what, these cars are absolutely breathtaking in person. Masterpieces!

Just wanted to mention for those of us who are all things automotive yet at the same time we don’t know all the niche markets and specialty cars, it would be nice to have a little bit of an explanation for the niche market cars that are highlighted here. I was able to figure out that an RWB is a specialized custom Porsche by company in Japan. However however it would have been nice to have a little explanation of who they are and what they’re about. Thanks

It’s a single guy yes it’s a company but it’s literally him and a few of his guys who will come to your garage or shop to do the modifications and bodywork right then and there.
RWB is basically you take a stock air-cooled 911, then angle grind the wheel arches out. Then you use wood screws to nail some excessively large poorly fitting fiberglass panels over the gashes and spray them with rattle cans. Bonus points if the panel gaps are horrible and the wheels rub the arches when turning.
It's basically just a hack job Porsche slapped together by a chainsmoking Japanese guy.

It's cool to see someone so excited about a car they are passionate about but I can't really relate to that very much. To me vehicles are transportation, simply tools to get me from one part of the country to another. I want them to be reliable, drive well, and be comfortable enough to handle driving it for up to 18 hours straight and get good enough gas mileage to not put me in the poor house.

I love jdm cars but the rwb's are the sickest widebody conversions in my opinion. They aren't just a widebody manufacturer, its a full package and experience I hope to have some day

Someone lied to you. That's not number 1 for the public. It's not even USA #1, Hoonigan and both Pandoras were all built at the same time. Pandora One is currently missing, but speculated to be in New York. The first RWB Porsche after Stella was Kamiwaza. This is Kamiwaza 2. Kamiwaza 1 is still in Japan and owned by the same person as Rough Rhythm (RWB #11), this is a beautiful car, but not the second RWB or the first sold.

I still can't fathom how hyped a widebody kit and wheels are just because it's a 'limited' product. This is the automotive equivalent of waiting for forever and then STILL overpaying 3x for something because it says SUPREME on it in capital letters...despite having an entire human gestation period (plus a few months for good measure) to reconsider.

It’s not just a “hyped wide body kit”. By that logic, an M3 is just a hyped 3 series? RWB cars are appreciated as the sum of their parts. I reckon you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone that considers an RWB to be just a body kit. You can’t just buy big over fenders and slap them on a 911 and have yourself an RWB. Each car is built by a single person. He has a vision for each car and there is ritual in building it. This isn’t chip foose bringing your exact vision to life. You have to relinquish a lot of design control(and surely many buyers relinquish all), and allow him to work freely. Sure, at the end of the day it’s just some car mods on a common 911...but there’s so much more beyond face value that makes these cars special. Not everyone has to understand, it’s okay if people don’t. For those with whom RWB resonates, however, it resonates hard and what went on behind the scene, the ideas and the ethos, are as much what it’s about as how it looks and drives.

This has a 930 vin. Obviously the car has been completely rebuilt since then, but it did start as a 930 turbo coupe.
This looks like the car that was on a show from a few years ago. I cant remember which channel it was on (Discovery, Velocity, or History), but it was a father/son duo that bought and sold exotic cars. I remember the son taking the RWB out on the track to give it a shake down, and he was talking about it having the built in car jacks at each corner of the car. Then again, that may have been an actual race car. Does anyone know the show? I believe the episode aired back in 2018. (sorry I stopped watching TV some time in 2018....)

Lots of people don't know. RWB (Rauh Welt Begriff) translates to "Rough World Concept." This started as a racing team in Japan and evolved into a porsche tuning/ styling company.

944s are still affordable but going up. Not a typical Porsche but it's something. Otherwise I think Boxsters are still fairly affordable. Personally I can't stand convertibles though and the Caymans are still pricier.

when he made the first rwb he changed a lot of stuff on the engine, now from what im seeing its just body kit he puts on for you after cutting your porsche up, but seeing him doing the build is amazing, and he names the porsche and puts idlers stensil on tires, and stickers on the car
This car is a race car. Has run idlers and numerous track days across Japan. Patrick has a video on his channel going all through it.
RWB cars are designed as racecars. The kit is designed for track performance. This car has a really hot 993 street build, but other RWB cars, it's entirely down to the owner whether they wanted to modify it or not. There are quite a few that get raced though.

RWB started out as a middle finger to purists. If waiting for one's turn and delayed gratification is the "right" way to go about it, it kinda defeats the spirit intended.
If people are pissing and moaning about getting it the "wrong" way, well looks like they hadn't paid attention to the starting line of the company. As far as I can tell, the story behind this RWB and its new owner fit the original spirit of the aftermarket brand.

Patrick gets the coolest cars and then he does cool things with them, but the RWB you can't really touch. That's why I don't get him wanting it. The artist in him has to create something uniquely his. You see it in everything he has just about. I think Patrick should just buy an older Porsche and do his own RWB style build.
