The big deal is that the majority of ppl that marry young (or after having only known the person for a short amount of time) have an extremely high risk of it not working out. Those that work out are rare and in the perfect world I would agree with you (I do actually but the reality paints a different picture)

My grandma got married to my grandpa when she was 16 and he was 19, they've been together for over 50 years and they have the purest love I've seen in my life ❤

why does everyone think that marriage is basically prison? if you're married at a young age and wish to continue pursuing your dreams, you may. you don't have to start popping children just because you two have decided to sign a piece of paper.

I think that depends on every person! Been married doesn't mean that you have to give up on everything, specially if you are with the right person...
I agree, it depends on the person. The only thing that concerns me a little is that their decision to get married was sort of a convenience to end the distance between them. I respect their decision, of course, however, I think marrying someone shouldn't be so they can live closer to you. she could just simply move for that, imo.
I really don't want to sound rude, but it's not that easy to move to America. Like not at all. The rules are very strict and you'd need to be employed and there is this rule that a company can't let you work for them if there is anyone near by that can do the same if youre foreign
Because life is long and getting married is a bigger deal than everyone young thinks. You don't just 'sign a piece of paper'. You move in with them, you see each other every day, you have to figure out financial decisions together, their debt becomes your debt, buying a house together (which is basically the biggest purchase anyone can make), you have to change your name on everything, etc. I'm happy for them but don't think rushing a wedding is a great idea. Plus it's much harder to plan a quick wedding unless it's cheap, I know because I work in the wedding industry.
I just got married 3 months ago and I'm 19 and it's so great getting married this young because you get more time to live and make memories with your best friend! ☺️

Just wanted to say how incredibly full my heart is to see you guys standing firm in not living marriage life without being married. It's evident that some of the biggest concerns about getting married young is the fact that "you want different things when you get older" and that you change. However, this idea treats marriage as a disposable agreement once things get inconvenient and hard instead of the true, binding covenant that it is. Getting married isn't about finding a person that you can be with because they will never change or because they know exactly what they want. Marriage is a promise to be faithful to one another knowing full well that you will change in all sorts of ways in the future and YET you have promised to be faithful and instead of running away, you have promised to serve and love one another that much more. Some may say that getting married young is stupid, but when done for the right reasons and with this covenant in mind, I think it's so incredibly bold, encouraging, and wise. Truly happy for you guys and have been encouraged by your relationship!

I've been in your shoes. Some advice: My partner is Australian, and I'm American. It is heaps easier on you both for Gabriel to move to Australia and work on getting citizenship so you guys can stay together without worrying about deportation. It's only about a 1-2 year process if married in Aus. It's way harder for you if you go to the USA and try to gain citizenship. Trust me, we tried. The USA can remove or deny you at any time at ports of entry and it's really scary. So my partner and I decided it's much more secure having myself move to AUS. Also, free healthcare here and better food standards. And I'm in American. Hope I could help. Ps congrats on your engagement! 👍🏼❤️

my mom was married at 17 and my dad was 24, not as similar to your situation, but they have now been together for 20 years. it's never too early, or too soon. once you know it is right, just do it, always follow your gut. I met my husband (age 19) & engaged one month after our first date (age 19) & married 4.5 months after our engagement (age 20)
We have been together over 5 years and we are going strong. Age doesn't dictate success. Communication is key, and you will go far.

Yeah. :( Home sickness can be tough. I lived 10hrs away from my family for 2 years and I missed them tremendously. I was so glad when I got to fly home to visit them. Hopefully you will be able to fly to Australia from time to time to visit your family.
this is my 4th trip to America now so its been really good for me to ease into it! i go for a month at a time so i've learnt how to deal with it which is a blessing!
Mkay. That makes sense. Slowly easing into things. Technology is definetly a blessing now days too with Skype and FaceTime. I know some people who daily vlog too, as a way to stay in touch with family far away and to let them know what they are up to.

When Christ is in the center of a relationship it helps. I was 19 when my husband proposed. We got married exactly 6 months from our first date. We heard everything about how it wouldn't work. God is the key. My husband and I will be married 21 years in a few months. We have 4 beautiful kids and he is my best friend.
My parents got married after 7 months of meeting and are still married, 15 years so far and many more to come. May God bless Jess and Gabriel with a wonderful marriage

Congratulations to you both! My husband and I are newlyweds (8 months now!) and we're 21 and 22. We dated for 5 months before he proposed, and were married 7 months later. We've had some skeptics because of how young we are and how quickly we moved, but we literally just knew. We felt peace about it, and God was part of it every step of the way, and the people who really knew us were so supportive. Recently, I moved with him from NY to GA so he could go to school, and it was a big step for us. It was scary for me because all my family and friends since birth are in NY, but it's part of the adventure, and you can do it! Anyway, just wanna encourage you both that marriage is hard sometimes but it's so so awesome and y'all are gonna love it. If you keep God the center, have a selfless attitude, and keep communication open, your marriage will be beautiful and anointed and the best part of your life! I am not religious, but I did get married quickly and young as well. Our first date to wedding was 6 months & 10 days. I was 20 and he was 22. We have been together 5 almost 6 years. You just know when you know, but you do face a lot of adversity.

I have non religious friends who've gotten married young and done great with it. it really is about who you're with, your maturity level, and your mentality going into it. I hate how much flack people get for doing it young. First of all, it's not their decision. But really, I think the reason why people have a hard time understanding getting married young is because they have a selfish mentality about it like "I wanna be able to do whatever whenever with whoever" and they just don't understand people who don't think like that. But I don't wanna do whatever whenever with whoever. I wanna do life with my husband, and I don't feel like I settled. Marriage isn't prison. It's wonderful. And it doesn't stunt personal growth, it encourages it. It really is all about your attitude and who you are as a person. I'm so glad you've gotten to do life with your husband and that your marriage is going strong!
congrats to you too and agreed. I hate the analogy that its like leaving a party before it begins, when I see it as starting a better one. I can travel I can go to college I can do whatever I want and I can do while married. I feel better in myself and life knowing that someone is there with me who I can trust and who will be there for life.

actually I've already graduated from college and starting working for a newspaper and was the reporter for an entire county for a year. my husband is also in the service so I say I've accomplished a lot. ive also been to 15 countries since I was 16 and studied abroad in Madrid. what I meant was it was the best thing for us :)

my husband was supposed to be home for christmas and then they cancelled it. he could be home on the 6th but they are too unorganized to get the job done so it looks like it will have gone from dec. 20 to jan. 28. so glad he gets out in a year and a half.

To be honest, I do only know you for your TH-cam videos and your relationship, in videos wherein you're together. But I don't think getting married or wanting to get married is based on how long you've been together. If it feels right, then it's right. If other people think it's a mistake, well then it's Jess and Gabriel's mistake to make. But for me, I'm on that majority that thinks this is a good thing. I don't think it's rushed. There's just that intuition that you both were made for each other. If you love each other, time doesn't define what could go wrong, experience does. And if everything you've done together has lead you to this point, call me blind, but I just don't see that bad side. Good luck, Jess and Gabe on your journey together. There's no greater relationship than putting God in the middle. This life has nothing on you. You got this! 👌👌👌

I'm also in a long distance relationship (Australia - Brazil). It's been long distance since the start asweel because we met during a sky trip in New Zealand and I feel your pain it is incredibly hard. Specially because due to me being at uni and his work commitments we can only see each other for about 40days after 4 and a half months apart.
We have also come up with the same solution as you guys - if we are commited enough to go through the distance then why wait to get married right haha
So yeah, finding your channel was honestly a blessing - it is very nice seeing another couple making it work through the distance
