Vitamin C works for sure. I was at work at my midnight shift a few years ago. I started to feel sick like I was getting the flu....the common flu of that time i guess...At work I had a bottle of Kirkland (Costco) 1000 mg pills of vitamin C (ascorbic acid). I took 1 pill every half hour...I don't remember the total amount I took...my guess for at least for 3 hours that I remember....I did not get any sicker and started to improve.

    • @roberta6360

Awesome to hear that it worked for you. I've found that the dosage is so important for good results! For years I didn't realize that Vitamin C needs to be dosed in sufficient amounts to be effective, the RDA amount of 90 mg/day is nowhere near enough in my experience! I've also found that I was short on vitamin D so I had to up that to around 5,000 IU/day. I had my Vitamin D levels tested many years ago and was deficient in Vitamin D - and that was after having a summer of natural, sensible sun exposure with a tan. I suspect a Magnesium deficiency may be to blame for the low D levels. Taking Vitamin C and D alone has been great for me and adding in some minerals like zinc, magnesium etc. has also helped, as well as having Elderberry, NAC and Quercetin as additional artillery. :)

Always been pretty healthy, been doing high C for a few years ( as you now know..) My body loves it, powder is the way to go. Still at 10-12 grams, a day. No downside. Loose stools is a small price to pay. Thank you for saying the sicker you are the more you need. I might be taking more than I need but I'm happy with how my health is.

I always take about 5,000 mg ascorbic acid mixed with quercetin, hesperitin, & rutin which is in a powdered crystal form which also contains some magnesium ascorbate & calcium ascorbate together with 980 mg of NAC or N-acetyl-L-cysteine with a high dose B complex which has been already phosporylated which I believe was with the B6 complex but I also take 3,000 mg of B12 sublingually in the forms of adenosyl cobolamin, methyl cobalamin and the hydroxy cobalamin at 1,000 mg each. I also take at least 400 mg of magnesium glycinate chelate and magnesium malate at about 400 mg about 3 times a day too. All of the above I repeat this 3 times a day except for the sublingual B12 which I do one time. But I also take many other supplements for the day as well which are too numerous to mention here. But I do think by takine NAC together with the vitamin C eventually re-charges the vitamin C because the NAC does get synthesized into glutathione within the cells and the glutathione is what re-charges the vitamin C because glutathione acts as a strong reducing agent or donates electrons to the ascorbate when it gets into the cell in the form of dehydroascorbate through the GLUC 1 & 3 sodium transporters and then I believe the dehydroascorbate gets reduced by the glutathione which most came from the NAC I consumed as well. I am 65 but I really feel like I am like 35 years old every day.
