“The way they say things like Smurfs is this and Smurfs is that” is my favorite line in this. Their ability to get through a whole review and somehow leave you with less information about a movie than before you watched it is just unmatched.
That's the best part of the series to me. They review dozens of movies per season and literally don't need to watch them because the info they give is basically guesswork and also from press releases, etc.
I always thought it was an intentional, very subtle joke that Tim somehow pronounces “Guillermo del Toro” correctly the first time he encounters it (somewhere in S1).
About amateur movie reviews online that don't really say anything substantial, and a lot of other stuff they criticized simultaneously by branching off from their original tongue-in-cheek critique
Fuck I always forget how hard Gregg comes in with the earnest "I thought it was interesting to see some of the loose ends from the first movie tied up" after Tim's magic ramble This video is absolutely top shelf
@@Juel92 the most shocking part of that episode is that Tim is actually a pretty tall dude. He just doesn't seem so most of the time because Eric is so much taller.
"I love the color blue and the whole blue thing" made me crack up. On some really reductive level, I think that's basically James Cameron's motive for spending 15 years and half a billion dollars making the Avatar movies.
Fun fact, blue is actually the easiest "alien" skin color to make look correct, because it's the inverse of human flesh tones and you can get a similar range of colors, and it's also complimentary when paired with humans. Greens and reds are harder to make look real.

I've been working on some Smurf fan fiction. I felt the movies left the viewers unchallenged. In my version, I wanted it to be more like how The Empire Strikes Back ended; on a cliffhanger. So mine wraps up with Jokey Smurf loosing an arm and Gargamel had Smurfette in a slave costume while he encased Papa smurf in carbonite.
TIM: "And uh, the Smurfs team up with their human friends to rescue Smurfette who has been kidnapped my Gargamel since she knows a secret spell that can turn his newest invention - creatures called Naughties - into real Smurfs. So very, very complicated st-(burp) story for Smurfs to get involved with in this episode of Smurfs. Uh, this was one of my favorite movies, uh I loved the first Murfs a lot. I loved the whole blue thing, where everything says, everything is about blue and the color blue and the way they say 'Smurfs is this' and 'Smurfs is that'. Um, I loved it and um, I think they're gonna probably keep making these Smurfs movies 'cause they're very fun and very funny and got a lotta heart and a lot of soul. My review of it is 4 bags of popcorn." GREGG: "Yeah, I thought it was interesting to see some of the loose ends from the first movie tied up and uh, it was a great movie, um. If you grew up watching the Smurfs, as I think we all did, uh, it's kind of neat to see it expanded into a movie length feature and especially repeated the following year, and I hope this is one of those franchises like Star Trek that we see, uh, become a regular, uh, presence on our screens." I think Tim almost gets Gregg with “I loved the whole blue thing” - watch his mouth
I think they probably both went into it expecting to break each other..it doesn't get more 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 than smurfs 2
