BBM answered in english because the question is english, if he was ask in tagalog the answer is in tagalog, common traits of Filipino kids raised from 50's to 90's. Same goes with other dialects, that's why there is an unspoken rule that whenever we have a visitor we are not allowed to speak a dialect that our visitors cannot understand.

Boy Abunda's in depth interview with the running candidates for the highest position in our country is normally formatted using the English language to benefit the international viewers. Abunda is only giving allowance to candidate Robredo who falls short on that field. And it's an open knowledge to Filipino's of Robredo's difficulty on explaining her thoughts sharply even when using the Filipino language, Tagalog. Robredo habitually repeats group of words and words as her way to stress a point or to make the conversation longer. Bitting around the bush, redundancies and multiple thoughts insertion that in the end leaves the question unanswered. Communication tops obviously from her weak points!

She should be able to stand her ground when she uttered the word "LIAR". Gosh, this woman is "PERFECT" in every sense of the word. She feels she's above all else. But excuse me for crying out loud...She can't even talk straight nor her chain of thoughts are in the right direction. She doesn't make any sense at all that's why she's perfect "for nothing". Kapag nagkkwento sila, they tend to emphasize kung sino iyong main actor sa kwento nila. In her case, lagi siyang naririnig na sinasabi iyong mga katagang 'sa akin kasi', 'ako kasi', 'sa OVP kasi' dahil ineemphasize niya na siya iyong 'main actor' or bida sa kwento niya. Also, she always repeat kung ano iyong sinundan ng sinasabi niya to make sure na hindi naliligaw ang line of thought niya. It also shows na she's an active listener especially kapag inuulit niya iyong tanong by answering in complete sentences.
Ako po, I won't call someone with a bachelor's degree in Economics, a lawyer, has a Master's degree in law, has received honorary doctorates from PH universities, and was even invited as a SME (subject matter expert) ng London School of Economics and Political Science na lutang or whatever.
Sorry. I deemed it necessary to comment kasi sobrang unfair na ganyan ang tingin natin sa tao when we, I included, have not achieved even half of what she has achieved as a public servant. Moreso, when the candidate we are rooting for does not even have a college degree or a profession to boast except being a politician.

As i watched also the whole presidential interviews between BBM and VP leni, i was once an undecided voter because I was attached to be a SOLID DDS and likewise ADMIRER to VP Leni's programs during calamities and I found out that all of what she said is TIMELY and not vague.
BBM on the other hand might have opened up some good points but his stand is redundant and not versatile enough to create PLAN B-Z if worst case comes. What I hated with BBM's platform is his agreement with the idea to legalize ABORTION during his interview with Boy Abunda. If you really watched his interview, you will get disappointed with his UNCHRISTIAN viewpoints concerning morality.
That is the reason why, a month ago, my mind changed and decided to vote for VP Leni this May elections.
It is not yet the end for us to think properly and assess the platforms of both sides. I hope you will also.

21:06 that's why I prefer Isko Moreno and Marcos better when answering questions. It's because they provide the answer as soon as the question landed. No beating around the bush. Robredo, Paquiao, and Lacson always answers ideologically first (especially Pacquiao) before the real deal. Presidency is a serious position. Your answers are supposed to be factual and executable, not full of dreams and ideals only.

actually most of our political figures tend to speak in english because there are many dialects in our country many whom who doesn't take tagalog as the national language but they are more versed in english being like the most accepted international language & in classrooms books like math, science, especially subjects in college are usually in english...

Of all the social and political news anchor that represents media’s integrity and decency- only boy abunda carries unbias interviews. Hes the one with truest decency at all cost.
The translator actually did a good job. If you understand the Filipino language, the translator did a better job explaining and getting to the point of her answers than the interviewee. All of these are just talks, but people really need to see who owns these conglomerates behind the businesses they say are polluting the country. You'll be more than surprised to know they are LB's financiers. Filipinos really need to wake up. A rosy tomorrow is just a facade, like a fairytale which is not the reality.
On the otherhand, Boy Abunda's questions and ff-up questions are on point and fire!

Her comments about the lack of skills of seafarers/seamen or the need for the government to provide a program to train or upskill them goes to show her lack of knowledge. I know for a fact that there are schools/organisations that already provide these. There's the National Maritime Polytechnic in Tacloban where my brother-in-law used to teach seamen officers. He did a stint of working in a ship as an officer before resigning for personal reasons and pursued a teaching post afterwards. He completed either his masters or PHD (can't remember which for sure) degree in Malmo, Sweden back in 1999 or 2000 courtesy of the Phil government. There are other bodies like this in the Philippines that offer trainings. Of course they are not free to the attendees unless they are either a scholar or sent by their companies. Robredo tries to come across as knowledgeable and have the pulse or feel of the ground but fails. She's just full of hot air balloon and just the mouth piece of her puppet masters.

Also, as opposed to you Ovelo, I did not see her as an academic when she answered. Like I previously commented, she always answers from a first person point of view. In academic discourse, you always use the third person point of view so you can sort of express that your answers are facts and evidence-based and not merely your opinions.

Attacking the other candidates particularly BBM and displaying bitterness in many occasions may be one of the reasons why in the last survey Leni's net satisfaction rating was so low, if I am not mistaken it was positive 1. If in the next survey it will become negative it will surely hurt her candidacy. By the way, in all surveys conducted by different survey firms, BBM got more or less 60% voter preference, the remaining more or less 40% was shared by the other presidential candidates.

I love how you react to our political situation in the Philippines. It's really great to hear from foreign people like you who obviously didn't really care whose gonna win because you are not even a filipino citizen(which is you always made it clear just before every reactions you made). Thank you for making an unbiased review on this. I hope those who were supporting Leni see this objectively and realize why she's absolutely not a good fit to be the next president. And you are not wrong, Ovela, she is mostly self-centered in her answers. She always sees to it that she is always the star in her stories. Her answers to the questions lack sincerity and just focused on how to please the people, what people want to hear. She doesn't leave an impact to her audience. Most of her answers were unrelatable and couldn't be deciphered by ordinary people, too wordy, lack deep sense. That's why people call her "Lutang" or in English floating or shallow, couldn't establish deep connection with the people and even with herself. Watch her campaign ad where she did hadouken, she looked stupid and shameful. She can make a good puppet president who will do just anything she is told. In one of her rallies she even told the people in Visayan dialect that her underthigh/groin is pink 🤦♂️of course it's a joke but it's inappropriate for someone campaigning for the highest position.
She can't handle problems we have probably, or she might solve problems in a dumb way, and turning her into a puppet by someone, no doubt, I'm a Filipino, but that's my point of view when Leni becomes president, I probably trust BBM than her, and luckily, there's strong woman on his side from Davao.

OVELA it's not true that our first language is filipino, filipino is our second language since there is so many languages in our country so our first language language first is what we are using in our locality (ilonggo, Cebuano, hiligaynon,bisaya etc) and our second is filipino so that if we move to a city we can still communicate with each other even if we have different languages and we learn English our third language so that we can speak to foreigners in our country or we will visit to other countries.
