    Just bought this as my first firearm. Thank you for video showing me how to do the cleaning. I was having a problem with the getting the pin aligned after taking it out. Thanks again.

      Point the gun downward so the barrel slides out, it will help to line up the hole.

    @htcsir I just cleaned a couple rifles before that that is why it is still out. I didnt use it because Sig's cleaner/oil came with the gun and was going to use that until it ran out. I have since switched to aerosol Remoil.

    Thanks for the great video. I just bought at 2022 and have great difficulty in popping out the slide release. The button on the right side is really hard to push through. No problem in putting in back in. Do you think it is related to newness and it will wear in? Any advice appeciated. Thanks.

    The MANUAL recommends cleaning with a high quality oil. Always read the manual especially if you get something as goofy as a Ruger Mark III 22.

    @brutusdog Me too! I just got mine not too long ago and taking that lever out is killing my finger lol! I'm gonna take his advice and do it a bunch of times in a row and hopefully it will become easier. Should I put oil or grease on that?

    @campcarroll69 I replaced it on my 2009 because the rod that came with it had a chip out of the disk at the barrel lug end. I mentioned it on Sigforums and someone told me about steel guide rod replacements. When I traded the 2009 in for the 2022, I put the original guide rod back in, then put the steel rod in the 2022. I haven't found it makes any difference in performance, but I like it.

    Hey, njhunter1108 is this the same process when cleaning a new gun that's never been shot before?

  • @StrongbowTX
    @StrongbowTX 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @brutusdog Yes. As I'm sure you've figured out by now (You posted your comment a year ago), once you take it out a couple times, it loosens up and it's real easy.

    It is veryyyyy hard to pop that button! it is 100% because it is new! the more you clean it the better it gets..i even sat there and popped it in and out about 20 times and i even saw a difference

  • @StrongbowTX
    @StrongbowTX 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @njhunter1108 I'll second that. First time I tried to take it out, I about killed my finger. Had to use a pen or spare guide rod to get it to come out. NEVER had a problem getting it out since then.

  • @StrongbowTX
    @StrongbowTX 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow, the notch on my 2022 is MUCH further forward on the slide than that. I have to run the slide all the way back to the slide lock, then another 1/8" to pop the pin.

  • @StrongbowTX
    @StrongbowTX 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @FROMSIRIUS Oddly I found it easier to take the pin out on my 2009 than on the 2022. Considering one of the changes to the 2022 was to make it "easier" to take the pin out, I was annoyed. I ended up using the end of a pen to get it out the first time. After that, it pops out nice and easy. It was just "new gun" stuck I guess.

    I didn't see you lube the gun at all in this video. How often should that be done?

    • @joegun9237
      @joegun9237 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That should be lubed every time after cleaning and before reassembly.

  • @19BADGER-F250

    HAHAHA... I caught you at then end of your video, after you assembled it and put the loaded mag back in, you almost went to rack it then you drew your hand back and said well that's it. LMAO... It was a little scary at first dude. I thought you were gonna do it, but all in all it was a great video. Look forward to seeing you shoot it!

    I decided I HAVE to get this FNH pistol first. Found it cheaper than the $399 + 3 magazines haha. I held both and they both felt great (FNH a little lighter). I hope to get this as well though, again felt really nice. I have to wait 30 days to get another handgun though(by law)...

  • @bummercal

    I can't ignore the deal I'm getting on the FNH, man haha. Breaks my heart I: 1) don't have enough money for both 2) Legally can't buy two anyways. My shop was selling the latest ones for $400 something, I'd pay that much for it (If I miss these $399 deals). I wish I had the money to stock pile but I really don't haha. I won't have much left after this FNH purchase.

    HAHAHA! I knew I would be caught sooner or later! I normally would rack a round in the pipe and then de-cock it and leave it in my quick access safe but I stopped myself from doing it on video LOL

    Lol, yeah I figured as much because I do the same thing. To me it's just a little scary seeing someone else do it on a video. Hey have you got a good video on shooting it yet? If not I had some suggestions. People always film going to the range and shooting a couple rounds but that gets boring. Maybe try to set up some targets and do a drill or something to make it interesting. When I get mine in a couple weeks I'm gonna do a video like that

  • @klk1900
    @klk1900 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    oh yeah that crap is high. when i was little i thought it was no problem cause i was shooting my dads wallet away practically haha. but now i reload my .45's and sometimes 9mm also i save money but i dont at the same time because i shoot way more. but i still save 65-70%. i just take my 45, .38, and 9mm and shoot less out of each gun, instead of just shooting say a .45 the whole time. that seems to save more than anything. hah but some days you cant resist and shoot til you run out totally!

  • @bummercal
    @bummercal 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @EverythingisFire i got 3 days left till i get mine home,your not goin to get a better deal on this gun.p.s buy what ever now ,this arizona thing is goin to pick up steam,and youlle have to register to buy handgun ammo starting in feb.

    For me; If it's not in the safe/gun box/case... it's condition 1. An unloaded pistol is about as useful as tits on a boar hog. I'm totally comfortable with a round in the chamber. I'm totally confident that my training will allow me to run this way, in public, and be 100% safe.

  • @BobsHobbies

    This is NOT how to clean a gun. Extremely lazy and improper. I'm not going to get into all that was done wrong. If you want to know how to clean, look elsewhere. Sorry man but this is just not a good way to clean at all.

    • @maduro169
      @maduro169 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have to agree. all of those Hopps products and he didn't use any of them . And not cleaning the inside of the barrel with solvent .And to top it off using a bore brush to clean the inside of the slide OMG!!!! ( just a helpfull hint use a denture brush )

  • @southbaycommuter
    @southbaycommuter 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Anyone who has actually received any kind of formal pistol training would know that you must first, drop the mag, rack the slide 3 times (at least), then look in the mag well, and chamber. It's standard practice, and a good way to avoid putting any more unnecessary holes in your skull.

  • @freedomseeker01

    So you grab all the residue out of the barrel and wipe it all over the rest of the parts of the gun? Ever heard of cleaning pads? Duh.
