Was really decent pub years ago, we used to go and have a lovely homemade food and a beer , was always a good atmosphere. Great video mate👍

Was my local from the 1980s onwards, was very busy and popular when Brian ran it 90s / 2000s ... used to get very busy for lunches etc also. Great times in this boozer, would have never imagined it's future. Keep up the vids, really interesting stuff!

My band played there on the very final closing night. Sept 6th 2019. I heard the site was going to become an elderly people's home.
23+ years ago I walked past this every day on the way to work. Think I even had a date here once upon a time
Spent hours with friends and family in there from going for tea on Sundays as a kid to drinking from 17 onwards. Me and a mate even got paid for clearing shite from upstairs and the garden for a few days once. Got some brilliant memories from there and met people that are great friends to this day.
Quality m8 that's exactly why we need to keep the Great British boozer alive. Thanks for your history.

In 1971 after Leigh’s famous win the rugby league cup was brought there and I ran down Wigan Road holding it (aged 15)
Who knew they'd win it again in 2023?!
They won it when I was young and then they won it again when I was old! Not a problem that Man City fans experience!

Yes,my grans old terrace. Six of my dead family had lived there. How many others I dunno. A ghost grabbed me there. Not malicious thank God.

Used to do a nice Sunday Dinner there. Didn't know it closed
So sad to see the state of this place. It was a smashing pub, full of character and served good food and ales. All boarded up now. Someone started doing renovations then that's seemingly ground to a halt.
This pub only closed as lockdown started last year, so I’m gobsmacked it looks like this!

Was in there watching an England match in 2019, was hardly anyone in there... the more modern Talbot pub up the road took all its trade when it opened, use them or lose them.

I last went in here jan 2019 after my nans funeral in Howebridge, I didn’t realise it was ripped out like this inside!

Drive passed this place nearly everyday, been in a few times shame it closed down. Changed hands a few times though and closed about 18 months ago

I had a meal in there in 2017. Sat near the window to the very right of the building in your thumbnail. Had no idea that it was that run down and it was quite nice inside. I'm wondering if they ran out of cash in a renovation or maybe a really expensive building fault forced them to close.

A local restaurant bought it to open another establishment. Unfortunately the lockdown put a stop to work and because they were forced to close, the money ran out. Absolutely gutted to see it left in this state, it was such a lovely pub in its day

Genuinely sad to see this inside now, wanted to cry a little bit. Visited this place many a time from 06-19 and spent plenty of time looking at the pictures you found when they were on the walls. Even worked in here for a bit. Cracking video clarky! Cheers for bringing back the memories.

Another top video bud, had my Grandads wake in there back in 2009 and was a decent pub, still drive past regularly and often wondered what it looked like inside so thanks for that 😂
I've watched so many of your videos now. I first came across this channel when I was looking at buile hill park videos on youtube and it was really nostalgic, which I love coz I'm from the area. So i checked out most of your other stuff on the channel and it's always great stuff. I do have to commend you on your camera technique. Not sure if anyone else has, but It's obviously all hand held and you never rush your shots. You always let the viewers get a great look at everything, so many youtubers don't. Its really patient and done with care. Full marks mate.

I cycled past this many times on my way to the canal and even just before lockdown Im sure it was still operating as I saw a man sitting outside round the back , I didnt realise it had come to this - not far from where I live

Another great video Clarky it's a shame a lot of the old pubs are sadly disseapring . I dranked in a few of them when I came home for visits after we moved in 1978. But I have been sober now for 25 years or So. Keep up the great work.
Good on ya brother I’ve been sober a year but let meself down a week or two back I’m also smoke free a year too and feel like shit lol
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt I too have been sober 1 day at a time (since 1980), when one asks how long I have been sober, I tell them what time I woke up that day; its not about how long one has or has not been sober, its all about the choices I make today, or even minutes.
Gutted to see this pub in this way!! I grew up in westhoughton just up the road and always thought this was a nice little boozer. Sad to see how it is now. I had no idea it had closed as I don’t live there now so haven’t been past it for some time but surely it can’t have been closed for very long? What a shame

Early 1960s pub down for demolition very soon then did start on it but were stopped with the infrastructure of the building

When pubs were a hub for the working man to gather and put the world to rights , along came the smoking ban hence thousands of pubs closed down ,I better get off my political soap box lol ,love the old signs that's when the brewery's used to hand paint them .
