  • Had fun sliding the R8 around at Donington (not always intentionally) for another track day with RMA. Sean and Rob from SJB Garage also came out for some passenger laps and we had some pretty weird conversations out on track...

    Subtitles were great. Easier to understand what you are saying when you have it written out below. Keep doing it!

    Looked a fun day, your getting pretty good at the drifting, and the R8 looked a weapon on track.

    I know McLaren's and Ferrari's are awesome, but this right, there, a manual R8 V10 (supercharged), is my ultimate dreamcar. Chris, I really hope you're going to keep this car for much longer and continue to make great videos with it. Also, is there a particular reason you never rev it out to 8700 rpm, or are you just taking care of the engine?

    • @ChrisDrift
      @ChrisDrift 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      when they installed the supercharger they said it's best to change gear a little before red line. There's so much mid range torque that you don't feel like you need to rag it all the way to the limiter tbh

    Your R8 seems particularly prone to over-steer! Yay for "skidssss"

    • @ChrisDrift
      @ChrisDrift 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      SKIIIIIDS :)
      Oh and yeah once the tyres get hot it slides around everywhere lol which can mean understeer, but I trail brake into the corners or come off the throttle really sharply and that's enough to shift the weight forward a bit and get the front to grip and the rear to slide

    • @mrlilmatt123
      @mrlilmatt123 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yes! What are the tyres, are they not great or just not track focused tyres? I've got a crappy pair on my Merc just to slide everywhere on haha

    • @ChrisDrift

      they're michelin pilot supersports

      they are good tyres... just not on track after a few laps. They're road tyres and that's where they shine.

    Hey Chris. Break discs don't warp these days?? Tell that to the 2 new sets of £300 discs on my s2000.

      I didn't explain very well but have a read of this: www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/-warped-brake-disc-and-other-myths

    Not usually a fan of track day videos but loved this, the R8 sliding around the track is so cool. Captions certainly helped, the one angle thing didn't bother me, could see track and inputs like you said. Keep it up!

    skids!!! a genuine brown trouser moment when the back end went on that corner, and your welcome, for walking a million miles that day to get mad shots 😂

    How are you even allowed to drift on a track day?? I’d have thought they’d have put a a stop to that because of the risk to other drivers if you tank it.

    Chris we did Spa with RMA last year, was a fantastic day. Cars that turned up was unreal.

    • @DedicationBlog
      @DedicationBlog  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I bet their international ones get some amazing cars turning up. I did spa on a normal track day last year in the M4 and it was a great experience, but I think I'll just stick to UK tracks this year

    video and subtitles are great. I used to control pletely destroy brake pads in my 350Z. I did 3 track days in one summer and everyone was cut short by brake pad failure so I feel your pain. I tried a few different brand's hardest wearing pads but even though they performed well they never lasted. EBC blue stuff (not my normal go to brand) because they were apparently tested for endurance racing and weren't road legal but they still only lasted one track day.
    I think any heavy (ish) road car with standard brakes, even if they are designed with performance in mind, will eventually give up the ghost with enough punishment.
    I've heard people say not to push braking zones on track days but when someone's in from, I want to pass them, and when the track is clear ahead I want to make use of it. :D

      yeah brakes seem to take more of a battering than anything else on track days. I got some PFC 08 pads in the front and they're awesome (although very expensive). Done 3 track days on them and they haven't faded at all and still have plenty left on them. Its just the rear pads that are the problem, as they're still the stock audi ones. I asked PFC if they make any for the rear but haven't had a response

    Awesome stuff! you probably need a nice big wing on the back to make it more stable on that 100mph corner. Should have just ripped one off the many GT3's there.

    PAGID RS29s!!! MIchelin Pilot Sport Cup2s and it will TRANSFORM your R8!!

    • @DedicationBlog
      @DedicationBlog  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the pagids and hated them. Got some PFC 08 compound pads on the front and they're great. But yeah sticky tyres would make a huge difference

    • @yazctr
      @yazctr 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      DedicationBlog what didnt u like about the Pagids? maybe Pfc 08s for the rear as well to help cope?

    • @DedicationBlog
      @DedicationBlog  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      they were just a nightmare to bed in properly. I followed their bed in procedure perfectly, and was still left with real juddery brakes that vibrated a lot. Switched to PFC pads and they've been perfect

      Michelin pilot super sports (which are great on the road, just not really suitable for more than a couple of laps on track)
