- Yo! In this video I will be reviewing and comparing the Oakley Prizm Road Jade, Prizm Road Black & Prizm Road lenses in depth. I'll let you know which one I think is best suited for me and most ideal for sunny to mostly sunny weather conditions for road cycling and other epic outdoor sporting activities. For anyone who is recently watching this video and is wondering which pair of road glasses to buy. I have just gone through this journey.
I was lucky enough to go to a local store that had all three pairs in stock. I tried them back to back to back. Inside the store and outside in the sun. I ended up deciding to go with the road black pair. There is honestly minimal difference between the road and road black.
The road black are still fine to use on an overcast day or earlier in the morning, but will also offer the best sun protection when it's a very bright day. So it's a win win for the road black.

i like the road the best for versatility..i wear them in the gym working out and driving and riding...no need to take them off and put in a case if i go inside. I also have the road blk and its also very good and not too much darker to me but its just badass looking from outside in. I am on the fence about the jade and probably will like it.

I just ordered prizm road black from options yesterday l pick up flak 2.0 in prizm normal one l told them order prizm road black
which they did l know hoping they come in Oakley radar EV style but not sure if they will

Hey, glad you liked the video. The Road Jade is an excellent lens. It just seemed like the tint saturation might have effected the overall visual clarity, the color making some stuff slightly more difficult to see when going into some shaded areas. Although I didn't think it was bad, just less than the clarity of the Road Black. The Road Black's color is a little less saturated and cooler, which seems to me like a better option if I'm going for pure visual performance.
I felt exactly the same way. I found Road much too light for the average sunny day. Road Black - perfect. It seems to let it much more light than the 11% VLT that also made me apprehensive. On the average NYC sunny day, these were perfect and, like yourself, enjoyed the substantial clarity and subtle saturation (which you'll notice doing an on/off test next to greenery and yellow road signs). Don't have an issue under trees although I might not prefer them for rides in very tree covered areas - which would limit the need for glasses anyway, such as on covered trails. Overall, superb for average sunny days.

I found the Prizm Road too light. I have the Jade polarized and it is interesting but only now and again. Tungsten is good for overcast or not so sunny. But I live in Spain in a fairly sunny area. My favourite is the Road black and also for sunnier days the Blue Sapphire works well.
Hi I am considering road jade but it may be overkill if I have road blk and road ?
Blue Saphhire would probably be more versatile than the Prizm Road Black. I'm in Finland and considered the Golf, Road Jade, and the Road. In the end I liked Prizm Road more. While it's not perfect for super bright conditions, it seemed perfect for overcast, snowy and lowlight. If I was trying to cover both scenarios I would probably add the Blue Sapphire to my collection. I did not like the Jade or Golf.

I just wanted to ask how versatile Road black lenses are, in summers there are literally no clouds where I live but I still need the versatility for when I start a little early, before noon stuff like sudden light overcast and random shade from buildings. You did touch on this but it's kind of unavoidable for me so how well do road black lenses perform in such cases?
Also for bright clear skies noon level brightness did you feel that the road jade may have been too bright?
I think you will be fine in conditions like you mentioned with the Road Black. And I never thought the Road Jade was too bright. It is very close to the Road Black. Just the smallest amount brighter. That said, along with the additional tint color it has, the Road Jade is probably a little more versatile. Both are would be great choices

I have no problem in open areas with the Road Black. What I like and worried about with the Jade, was the bright sunlight which the Black seems to manage perfectly. The clarity was very good even as I moved towards later afternoon and approaching dusk. If you think the Road is too light, I'd consider the Black over the Jade.

Yoo! Thanks for the support! Yeah they will scratch, but not if you are careful with them and don’t hit the surface with anything hard. And they clean alright. I’ve been using just a clean tee shirt most the time, but it can take a while to get everything perfect
hello and congratulations for the review I would like to buy a pair of radar ev path but I'm undecided on which lens to buy between Road and Jade.

I'm a truck driver who wants a good pair of oakleys for driving and also providing safety when I do get out of the truck. I want polarized and also a medium darkness. Anything u recommend?
Hey. I haven't tried many polarized lenses, I don't think they are ideal for biking. But I really like the Road Black for sunny days. I'd say those lenses are middle of the road for darkness when compared to other sunglasses. The Prizm Road is little lighter. But if you are set on polarized, I'd say your best bet would to try a bunch out at a store, if you can
am considering sapphire now vs jade road...what do you think?? I have heard the sapphire and ruby have a weird fade effect in the lens...

What's best for dull cloudy UK?
In general, I think the lenses of sunglasses are too dark. Photochromic lenses provide the best versatility, but if a photochromic lens isn't available, I think the 20% VLT of the Oakley Prizm Road is a good compromise. It's dark enough for the brightest conditions you will experience on the road (except maybe if you are riding in the desert), but can be used earlier and later in the day than 10 - 15% VLT lenses.
Thanks for the input! I have also heard great things for versatility with the photochromic lens, but have yet to try them for myself. I definitely agree, the Prism Road would be one of the top choices for wide versatility also. The Prism Golf I like using myself. I've used the Golf for some years now and it's been great for late afternoons and shady gravel rides. The extra rosey tint color is great looking through as well

@@cyclistpete2090 hi pete i was looking on yt to know the difference between road and road jade ! i get it thanks, im a runner, in south of france very sunny, i know trail should be the best cuz i trail a lot but i dont want them ahah! feel like it's too bright for me even tho i didnt try them on! so my question is : do u think road jade is good ? i like the color effect, the road too but i say maybe 15% is better during summer but not to so good during my trail run ! should i go for road or jade any advice or idea? thanks :) btw trail torch dont have the mirror effect right ? when i watch on yt it's seem very light compare to road or jade.
How would u say prizm road jade vs prizm golf would be I have the prizm road jade and thinking about getting the prizm golf. Also will mostly be used for cycling
The golf would be really great to use for cloudy days or partly cloudy days. Then on the sunny days, you could stick with the road jade.
@@cyclistpete2090 I have the prizm torch trail so would u say its best to just stick with that and the road jade then not really worth getting the golf lense then the torch trail would be all id need for overcast days that lense came with my advancers but I took it out and put my road jade lense in for now

pete ma boiiiiii. I have no idea what you mean when you describe a lens as analytical. Am I going to find my Oakleys crunching hedge fund ratios in Excel? Also, someone needs to say it, but Oakley need to step up their sales process. All these different lenses, and we're in the youtubes trying to decide which one is the spiciest. I'ma just order all of them, see, i fell for their plan.
Yo yooo! 😂 🤣 I know that was a weird way to describe the lenses. I thought the color temperature being cooler make them seem less relaxed feeling. To me warmer lens color temperatures feel like hanging out on the beach or something, and cooler seems more like you are at work or trying focus 🤷🏼♂️ hope that’s helpful!
do the Oakley models still keep peeling off the lenses or did they solve this problem?
I think they have solved it. None of mine have peeled at all

probably the prizm road jade. the rose tint will work well with your grass fields

Road Jade, or Prizm Field ...
Prizm Trail Torch... the most well-rounded, versatile tint Oakley makes. Thank me later.
I've used the Prizm Trail a little bit and didn't think they were very versatile. They are great on overcast days and under a bunch of trees, but when the sun comes out, I thought they are way too bright. I didn't care for the orange base color either, too much orange. But I haven't had much time with the Trail Torch. I checked it out at the shop, but it looks about the same to me. Have you checked out the Prizm Golf? That has been my favorite all-rounder recently. Great in the shade and they still hold it down when the sun comes out.
@@cyclistpete2090 Hey! I've looked through the Prizm Golf and they seem promising, but admittedly I haven't used them on an actual ride through changing conditions (they're on my list of to-dos!).
The original Prizm Trail was an extremely niche lens and ya, not too versatile. But Trail Torch is wholly different, and provides a startling amount of clarity even on bluebird days - yet it excels in tree-covered trails and hard top alike! No weird color distortion either, just a pleasant slightly-rose bias. You can wear these things from dawn to dusk, they're amazing. 👍

@@cyclistpete2090 Prizm Trail is different then Torch. Actually Trail is discontinued now, only Trail Torch is used in newer modells.

@cyclistpete2090 thanks dude. It just in my mind saves people a trip to go look at them in person or buying a pair online thinking one thing or the other. Sending or exchanging them back. 👍. Cause I had bought a pair online thinking I was going to get a cool colors theme looking out and it was bright warm I was sad. But still have them

what is the best lense if you only had to have one
The Prizm Golf is the best all-round, and what I use 90% of the time. But for really bright/sunny days, the Prizm Road Black is super nice

Prizm pizza lens is best.
No doubt. I didn’t add that one here because it’s so rare. I’m not sure if people could handle the optical sauce on that reflective coating either.
