    Good video that covers the matter. I regularly had painful skin irritation and abrasion problems on rides over 60-80 km. Until one day I realized that it was my Rapha bibs that were the source of the problem (after blaming my saddle, positioning, etc.). The cause of the skin problems was simply the center seam on the chamois. I think sewing a seam in the center of the chamois is definitely a bad idea. Today, I have Le Col, Castelli and Assos bibs, and this problem is a thing of the past.

    I live in the U.K. so we really don’t need the blue sky lenses so much. I’ve got an ancient pair of M Fames with gold iridium lenses and clear lenses for overcast or night riding with 100% light transmission. These new frames with interchangeable lenses are a right pain. Mine just clip in and clip out in seconds. Never had an issue with them. 20 years plus.

      Yeah, switching out the lenses is a little bit of a pain for this model, the radar. But after you do it a lot it becomes pretty quick and easy. And there is nothing wrong with those m frames, those are nice, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it 👍🏼

    Nice video! Put on a frame bag - It's more aero than without one and you can carry the essentials with room to spare. I keep sunscreen, paint stick (for mud scraping), TPU inner tube, bike tool, mini pump, and gummy worms in mine. Plus some zip ties. I use the spare space for arm warmers/coolers and a hydration soft flask for extra water carrying if needed. I keep CO2s and levers in the saddle bag, tire plugs and asthma inhaler in the bento box. It's all stuff we should be carrying all the time (maybe minus the asthma inhaler) and it all fits in nice and sleek and I never forget any of it because it's already on the bike. :) Bike setup is at the end of my own latest video.

    • @cyclistpete
      @cyclistpete 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sickair45nice bike! You can usually fit bigger tires than listed in the specs for bikes, I think my bike says 45c. For tire width it really just depends how rough of roads you are riding on, and how smooth you want it to be. Bigger tires give you more stability and grip also. But I think for a lot of stuff, and starting out, 40mm will be fine. Just when you start adventuring a lot further and deeper, you’ll probably want something bigger.

      @@cyclistpete is it common to switch out the tires from road to gravel or do riders usually buy a whole wheel set? one for gravel and one for road?

    • @cyclistpete
      @cyclistpete 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sickair45 I think most people either have a second set of wheels, or have allround tires that can do both. Switching tires is a bit of a hassle, and definitely not something you want to do regularly if you run tubeless. But if you are fast at it and use tubes, I think it’s something you could do for the weekend gravel rides, not a big deal, maybe until you find a good deal on another wheelset

      i have the trail torch also. they are both very similar. but I prefer the golf. the trail torch is a little brighter, (higher VLT) but its not very noticeable. I think the tint color of the golf does a better job at helping in lower light conditions. it also seems a little better going into brighter conditions. so its just more versatile. the trail torch can seem a bit too bright in direct sun, in my opinion. i used the original trail a long time ago and didnt like it. the bright orange/yellow tint was wayyy to much

This thing had some seriously steep sections that outpaced my 51t rear cog AND my legs. For anyone who is recently watching this video and is wondering which pair of road glasses to buy. I have just gone through this journey. I was lucky enough to go to a local store that had all three pairs in stock. I tried them back to back to back. Inside the store and outside in the sun. I ended up deciding to go with the road black pair. There is honestly minimal difference between the road and road black. The road black are still fine to use on an overcast day or earlier in the morning, but will also offer the best sun protection when it's a very bright day. So it's a win win for the road black.

    I am building a bikepacking bike on a budget. I will not buy an old 26 MTB. The tire are simply too small for my liking. So I gone with a hybrid steel road bike. Look like I can fit same setup as you. I'm very curious, for me it's still a small tire for massive weight.. but we see 😉thanks for the video, it gave me a hint

      It’s good to be back! Yeah it was a pretty cool one. Just be sure to have big tires. Or, an XC mountain bike would probably be best. Btw, this ride was 2 years ago 😬 I had started editing it back then but never finished it till now 😂 also, I linked the Garmin course in the description if that helps 🤙🏼
