- StarCraft 2 professional match between Neeb and Bly. In this Protoss versus Zerg we see the Protoss playing a pretty standard strategy focused around Void Rays. Bly decides to mix it up (read: plays his normal strategies) and go for a Gold first, push with Queens and Roaches and then transitions towards Swarm Hosts Nydus.

I was able to match up against Bly once in a Hyperion Cup...
First play I lasted 4 minutes.
On the second game I was able to "defend" a bit better. Up to 6 minutes before GGing
I've been playing SC2 since 2010, but I've never grown "too much".
Gold league most of the time, so that's not such a big deal :'D

I feel ya Lowco. I been playing since SC1 in 98 with dialup. I've played and do play dialy and still suck. I'm 54. This game has been an honest addiction. I have dreams about it and when my mind is idle it switches to SC images and replays in my head. It's sick really. If I had put this much time into a business I would be rich. But it's too late now. At 54 and disabled I might as well just keep playing and keep striving to go above Platinum. Old Days SC1 factoid. Spawning Pools were $150.

quit sc2 for a while and eventually started playing broodwar remastered, getting used to controlling 5 control groups at a time made it a lot easier to micro when i went back to sc2, having different unit type per control group. apm increased by like 100 just from getting used to broodwar haha
I'm tilted just seeing how bly never gets upgrades I think that's why he loses games more often than not
Bly played this game better than neeb did. I absolutely love the Worms all over the map. I've been waiting for a pro Zerg player to take advantage of the Nydus Network like that ever since Blizzard buffed it. It has the potential to be an incredible defensive network as well, its like a nexus recall but far better, as you can cross the whole map in an instant with no cooldown.
Bly lost for two reasons: he didn't get upgrades, and he didn't transition out of roach ravager. I think if he used the Nydus Worms to mitigate Hydralisks' and Lurkers' relative immobility, they would have been deadly. Hydra/Lurker/Viper/Corruptor with a secondary Host army using Worms as mobility could have been an unstoppable force before the Carriers came out.
@Tegridy Farms I guess I worded that poorly. He transitioned out of RR somewhat, but not fully. 25 minutes into the game and he still had both on the production tab.
Yeah, especially on those air units, when your corruptor have no defense upgrades they no longer counter void/carrier with 3 attack.
@@joshuafischer684 He lost, cos he used wrong angles. He commited too much when he have lost all his broodlords. You don't do damage with your main army.

@Tegridy Farms On cost to effectiveness basis they do and they are way easier to mass, that's why you never see a mass voidray. As soon as you make 4-6 voids, 12 corruptors exit the eggs and they will pick up voids one by one to avoid building a mass. It's not that toss don't try to make multiple voids but zerg can just prevent them to do that. Overall corruptors are good to fight voids.

Dang. This was probably the best game of SC2 that I've seen in months. And that's saying something 'cuz there have been some great games casted. I still can't believe Neeb not only survived that, but out played Bly for the win.

I understand that the professional builds are META and such, but when you get to Master or Grand Master, isn't it better to play off-META builds? That way your opponents aren't used to them as much?
yes and no, the meta is technically always stronger, but it can be unexpected
meta builds are meta for a reason
Other way around honestly. Executed perfectly, META builds are always stronger. So at lower level play you can fuck around more b/c those META build won't always executed right.
Off meta (or "cheese") builds usually only work if your opponent doesn't catch it in time or doesn't know the proper response. Cannon rushes are so deadly at low ELO because they're relatively hard to catch, but far easier to defend at high ELO because the players know exact routes to send their scouts in to catch the locations early on.
@@joshuafischer684 If you usually play "normal" builds and are up 1-0 in a Bo3, suddenly surprising your opponent with cheese can be great. Otherwise, the flaw in most cheese builds is how fast you lose if they're scouted or rebuffed.
Blys Playstyle inspired Lowko to make a video instruction completely different then the Lowko-Standard-Introduction-Meta.

I discovered at some point blizzard patched the game to use more than 2 threads. I updated my guide. It uses 4 threads!
I think Warcraft 3 reforged does as well. That one needs more testing. Like finding the raytracing path. I think its coming from DX8 and using a wrapper but not telling us hence why reshade needs the wrapper workaround ive yet to figure out. Warcraft 3 was suppose to look prettier, so it will add more to the scenes beauty. Zen 3 has higher single threaded performance than a maxed out i9. It launches in a few days, and the L3 cache can be shared fully by these 4 threads, instead of zen 2's split cache architecture. Put simply StarCraft 2 is going to fly on a 180hz g sync. Think micro at higher levels where this will matter more.
Someone with a name needs to help nudge blizzard to adopt nvidia reflex. Anything to enhance the latency is welcome.

Bly did the common Bly mistake: forgot about the upgrades
This comp was invincible in late game back when HOTS came out, basically using swarm host/viper to trade, queen/spine crawler/infester for defense, 40+ overseer to non-stop produce changelings for full map control. I was a GM back then and I was helpless.
HOTS late game zerg was the most boring thing to watch in all of starcraft history, especially against terran where the two player went turtle VS turtle... I remember those 1h30 games where nothing happened for the most of it.

Zerg vs. Protoss are always an interesting dynamic as Zerg specializes in getting out plenty of weaker units right away while Protoss specializes in a slow build to an overwhelmingly powerful army. The battle's outcome really revolves around whether or not the Zerg can inflict major damage on the Protoss before they can build up an unsurvivably powerful army...

At 4:28 you say that you cannot pass the minerals until you mine them or drop. Actually, you can warp in on the bottom side if you place a pylon near the edge. Saw it in the imba-series of Harstem and checked myself...
For the queen march I feel like that only worked because Neeb went for double stargate. If he had enough money and gates for stalkers they would just snipe the queens one by one.
I'm always sad when Bly loses, a man who plays for fun feels like the lovable underdog you can't help but root for

That was a fun game to watch, Bly has some fresh and interesting ideas. Neeb was a bit slow with his micro though. He lost way too many Void Rays.
I'm such a one-eyed zerg fanboy. Seems like every zerg unit is outmatched by every opposing races units. I'm definitely wrong except for one area: Spell-casters. All the zerg ones are huge and obvious like vipers and infestors while ghosts and Templars are tiny. Must make it so much easier to target the zerg units in the heat of battle.

@Tegridy Farms At one point he had more Bases & were safr to defend with corruptors.. But He built many kinds of units ( brood Lords, infestors, vipers, banelings,..) wich he didnt use well.
No Ling runbys until last 30 sec, 100 roaches but only 1 offense upgrade (burrow & tunneling claws would have worked, for herrassing) or 30 Mutas insteatd of broodLords & swarm hosts

Why doesn’t Bly get any air uppgrades? Very few ground uppgrades as well.
Bly is just isn’t an upgrade guy at all, you can watch his replays - he hardly ever prioritizes upgrades over units, I think this is part of his style.
Just shows how OP Protoss are. Zerg deserved win.

What if microbial shroud was changed to give a barrier equal to the unit's maximum health for like 8-10 seconds (since that's basically what it already does against air units)
Well... I think that's swinging too hard in the other direction. For example, if an air unit deals 100% health damage to a roach, with this change, the roach stays with 100% health, while in the current version, it would have 50% health. Also, it protects against ground units, where Zerg is strong (Zerg has really powerful anti-ground, like brood lords, banelings, and lurkers). This change would also protect against spell damage (like storm), which (speaking as a Zerg player) is one of the only counters Protoss has against large swarms of weak units (banelings and zerglings, though Protoss does have archons also do well here).
I do agree that microbial shroud probably does need a buff, though. Maybe double its radius (4x the area)?

It takes him 15 sec to transfer the drones and only 37.5 seconds to regain the lost mining time minerals, as yellow minerals harvest 140% of blue ones
Lowko doesn't do math on stream haha. In the heat of the moment he screws up basic arithmetic.
