When I see videos like this I'm so grateful that in my country all students in school gets free, hot lunch. You are also able to get a second portion if you want.
I had free lunch here, because my family was poor enough. At my school most of the kids got free school lunch because we lived in a poor city. But they definitely didn’t allow second portions, they wanted to make sure kids got the right amount of calories and nutrition, and it was already dishes for you, no choices 🤷🏻♀️ I didn’t feel like I was missing out since I didn’t know any different.
Our school district gets free lunches and breakfast now. It's been like this the last few years, but it wasn't free for everyone when I was going there. My son now gets breakfast he can eat in class and lunch. I think it's wonderful for kids whose parents never fed them whether it was because they couldn't afford it or because they were just neglected.
What an asshole. I'm not saying those items are healthy but if your parent allows you to have them it isnt the teachers place to overstep that boundary. In the hierarchy a teacher is below parents.

As a kid you shouldn't have totally unsupervised responsibility for your own lunch until YOU can pre plan and executive function. As an autistic kid I often ended up going into school with literally a piece of bread and then being so hungry and having a meltdown
Your so lucky though! I *NEVER* got choose my lunches and honestly I wasn’t very loved as a kid. All I would get for lunch is a apple and banana. Not even a drink. Once the banana smashed all over the apple so I got school lunch and they yelled at me saying “you could of still ate it” sad times. :(

My daughter's school doesn't have a fully functional cafeteria, and they don't have lunch ladies, or breakfast. Our daughter likes to make use of the microwaves available to all the students. Sometimes she takes leftovers from dinner if she really likes whatever we had for dinner. She loves bologna and cheese sandwiches, and cheese and mustard sandwiches. Sometimes she'll ask for peanut butter and jelly instead. I don't forget the napkins or disposable utensils. I make sure she has everything she needs. I try to keep it as healthy and as simple as possible for her and for her teachers and the staff at the school. Some parents don't take the messes or difficulties into consideration, and some just struggle to buy food or make reasonable decisions for their kid's school lunches. They just started offering lunches for kids that don't have anything. Grilled cheese and chicken patties and stuff like that. Its a small school, and they do their best. I loved school lunches, and I never turned my nose up at any of the options they had. The pasta with meat sauce was my favorite. It was buttered noodles or meat sauce. Their Italian hoagies were pretty good too.

I feel really grateful for my mom and dad for cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. They make our breakfast every day and we would wake up just to see there's already food in the table. We would bring home cooked food to school and, more often than not, they would bring us food at our school for lunch so that it'll still be hot. Now that I'm older, I'm starting to realize how lucky we are for having such parents. And I'll definitely be like them too for my future children. Love them both!

i used to bring those mini cereal cups to school since i get free milk (national school lunch program). i would look at the lunch menu for the week and decide when to eat school lunch or when to bring food
I pack cereal (lucky charms), strawberries, cookies (2 mini ones), pretzels and carrots. Sometimes I replace cereal with sandwich and strawberries and cookies with yogurt And sometimes I just bring apple sauce and some chips bc I don’t normally eat lunch like on weekends
All these kids that get homemade lunches are so lucky my parents never put the time and care to make me lunch and I was little so I didn’t have the energy to make one every day :/ wish I had home made lunches tbh
