Japanese - English Voice Comparisons of New Voices in Super Smash Bros Ultimate

- I'm betting you're here out of curiosity of Marth's new English voice after only having Japanese voices for the past few years. I'm quite surprised that the two versions of Ike have their own new voices too. The purpose of this video is to present how some characters feel different with their English and Japanese voices. I am aware that there are some specific voice clips missing out of my own stupidity, such as Chrom's aether, but I hope I'm still able to show enough to point out the differences in the feeling. Some taunts and aerials are also not added if they share the same voice in other attacks, such as how Roy's down aerial voice is also used for smash attacks. If a taunt or victory phrase does not have a voice or is the same in both languages, it will not be shown. Also, the focus here are the characters with new voices compared to their appearance to Smash 4, as well as the newcomers with voices of both languages.

Shoutouts to Super Smash Bros Ultimate finally being released on the Nintendo Switch. Didn't feel that long since Sm4sh was released on the Wii U. I'm keeping my eyes open for Melee though. I actually appreciate how Roy's english voice actor tried to make all of the grunts sound the same. Did a great job, too.
Roy and Marth's english voices literally sound more like their Japanese voices in the previous games then their current Japanese do. That's my take on it at least.

What’s really funny is that Richter’s JPN VA did voice Jotaro in a CD Drama and that Capcom Fighting game.
Richter's english voice also voices Robin and is the narrator for the JoJo english dubs.
That's funny because Chrom's English VA also voices Jotaro and his Japanese VA voices Joseph.

Mike West's Fox is better here than in Smash 4. Fox should sound cool. Still giving an edge to Japanese Fox for his energetic performance.

Yeah. For some odd reason, English Falco sounds abit weak, abit dorky. He's supposed to sound like he's an aggressive, competitive jerk. Though, I think they've been toning down his aggressivness and mean personality over the years. He will never be as mean and aggressive as he was in starfox 64. Still, why does he sound like that?! Ugh. Whatever.
I actually like the Wolf English voice, pretty good.
Lastly, English marth is ok. He doesn't sound as "graceful" I guess as he does in Japanese, if that's the right way to describe it. Sounds like a young boy kinda.
Roy's English va hits the mark perfectly, sometimes. But at times, hes too gruff and old sounding and its abit jarring, cause roy is supposed to be 15 from what I hear. (I'm not a fire emblem fan, don't care about the series at all, but marth and roy are the only fire emblem characters I like in general. They're cool. I like roy most though. I'm just very used to their Japanese voices.)

watching this video has made me realise just how well Ray Chase mimicked Roy's Japanese VA. he actually does a damn good job of it, and I've completely missed that he tried to copy every single detail of the Japanese voice to the point where most of the grunts are almost identical, with Ray's voice evidently being lower in pitch. might be the best English VA out of the game, in my opinion.
Maybe his experiences of maining Roy prior to voicing him also helped.

I’m alternating between the two because I love both casts of Fire Emblem. Plus, I love Hikaru Midorikawa’s redub of his Melee voice clips.
The marth dub is actually on point. The only thing I'll miss are his taunt and victory phrases that are burnt into my brain in japanese. Can't play roy without Doryaa though.
