      Well its the intention of his act. Many cabaratists have different attempts at getting people to change. People like Volker Pispers often focus more on politicians, governments and soft power like the press and the hirarchy. So change from the top. People should organize to punish the Bad.
      Hagen Rether has more of the old philosophy. "Better the people, to better the world". He is focused on holding us against the mirror and change our mindset. Firstly that we dont be helpless and dont act because we make no difference, but also to get us responsible. Because we all are loud when we brag about mistakes, but in our life we accept these problems quite easy and do also nothing. So we are guilty too.

    • @xCorvus7x
      @xCorvus7x 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, he's calling into question what we think about other countries or their governments, given the various things that are allowed here.
      The whole performance is pretending that the bad things happening in the West are happening elsewhere and are thus why we Westerners are so critical of these other countries.
      This highlights our collective ignorance and mislead ambitions of righteousness: we point at specks of sawdust in the eyes of others while disregarding the planks in our own eyes.

      Probably to add: the ‘Constitution’ Protection Service planted agents provocateurs in the neo-Nazi scene that murdered immigrants; the only ones carrying out those homicides were those sanctioned by the government and when this was investigated by the federal police they destroyed the files…

    • @Kansoganix
      @Kansoganix 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think he wants to say that, because he is too intelligent. Actually it isn't everywhere the same. There are still many differences and for sure countries like North Corea or Russia acting much more violent in many levels, especially against their own people. I think he just wants to say, be aware of marketing and keep in mind that there's a lot to criticize about western countries, too. Mostly in history, but also related to the recent decades.

    • @hw2508
      @hw2508 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Kansoganix of course, there are differences. But people should not forget what their country did while they point at others.
      What is accapable for one party is not for another. And in the end, often it is just about marketing. How you sell your story and what you made people believe in the first place.
      Just look at the disaster zone Ukrain. How can ordinary people in Russia believe so different than what people, lets say, in Poland believe? Or the other way around. It is a lot of controlling information, manipulating information etc. Not only the actual news, but from child birth, the values of society, the tone of discussion, national pride, etc. And it is no different anywhere else. Access to information might be different, but it depends on the values of the society. And how we interprete information as well.
      Everybody believes they are the good ones. But the world is not that easy. Some actions are good, some not, sometimes you have to do the bad thing. Sometimes you should not, even if everybody would agree.
      So, when we point at someone... Maybe think about how they would judge our actions. And about the consequences. The problem is, many people welcome the consequences. When Russia attacks Ukrain, Russia welcomes escalation. Even though their communication, especially inside Russia is different.
      When Hamas attacks people in Israel, Hamas welcomes escalation. And of course Israel will react. And they have to decides what they thing is appropriate. But at the same time, it is a question to whom you sell what story. For Israel as well as for Hamas or Iran.

      Things to know though is that terrorism by definition seeks publicity. The NSU never did that, thus not meeting the definition of a terror org.
      Besides the most probable suspect in the case in Kassel is the "v-man" (government agent) who was called a witness all the time.
      Or the fact that the profiles of the bank robberies they committed and the murders is utterly different.
      Their weapons handling on the surveillance tape of the robberies and the fact that they shot cops in cold blood also does not fit. And most importantly, they ended themselves and managed to eject the shells from the pumpgun they used afterwards.

      Official numbers, that's the difference. NK and China and Russia actually ALSO do most of the bad things which were in this video attributed to them at first (followed by "no, that was the US"), but when it comes to light, it's not that much of a scandal because it is totally expected from the "axis of evil" that they do so - unlike if it's done by the US.
      Both the US and China are deeply nationalistic, undemocratic, racist and ruthless on the world stage. I sure understand why we don't consider China (or Russia or NK) an ally - after all the unfriendly acts they commit. I sure understand why they consider us "unfriendly countries" - trust _usually_ goes both ways. I just don't understand why the US, which does the same as China, Russia or NK, and doesn't even have to hide it, can get away with just about anything and is still considered an ally or at least a friendly country.

    I'm a Brit and I don't understand why more people often don't want to be reminded of the truth. I'm not saying that Russia and China and Saudi Arabia are run by nice people who do nice things, because they're not. They're run by bad people who do bad things - BUT, just because they are bad guys doesn't mean that we're automatically the good guys, because very often, we're not the good guys either. We (by this I mean western europeans) have done some horrible shit to a lot of people for a long time. You only have to look at how every European country colonised 'their own' parts of Africa, murdered the people who opposed us as we pillaged the cultural treasures and national resources. For years. Years and years and years.
    We're a violent, selfish greedy, tribal species that kills the people who are different from our particular specific group(s) to eliminate potential future threats and competition for resources and we've done it for hundreds of years.
    I used to say:
    Yes, there are monsters and it's ok to be afraid of them. But it's not ok to let them win and it's not ok to be one.
    I don't say that often anymore.

      Paradoxically, he can make these statements because he lives in a free country. But why? Because here the ruling class is protected by the rule of law and does not have to fear being called into question as a whole, only individual interchangeable figures. A cabaret artist can say what he likes in this country because nobody fears that it will have an impact on the system. In dictatorships, free speech is suppressed out of an exaggerated panic, because any dissent could potentially lead to the fall of the system.

    What might not be entirely clear to foreigners is that Hagen's statement about Nazis in Russia murdering foreigners for decades was also sarcastic.
    Because that also happened in Germany (in 2008). This refers to the so-called "NSU scandal." In this case, a small right-wing extremist terrorist group (the NSU (National Socialist Underground)) committed 10 murders, 43 attempted murders, three bomb attacks, and 15 robberies against people with a migration background over a period of 7 years.
    When the matter was uncovered, the "Verfassungsschutz" (our domestic intelligence service responsible for protecting our constitution) was accused of failing. In fact, they were directly involved in the matter and had financed the operation through so-called informants. To cover up their guilt, the intelligence service then shredded all the files associated with the case. This issue reverberated through Germany like an earthquake and still has significant repercussions today.

      That _also_ happened in Germany? Are you implying that something like that happened in Russia, too?
      The whole program pretends that things Western nations did were done by other countries instead, even though the latter didn't do it.
      Unless I'm missing critical information, it's not that this _also_ happened here but that exactly that happened here (not in Russia).

We say "Pack" as an insult when we mean another group consists only of bad people, is rotten to the core or something similar. Translating "Das ist ein Pack." to "How dare they?" doesn´t carry the say weight his words actually have in GER. - Just fyi.

    5:15 This is just a random info but where the translation (that is certainly accurate in spirit, don't get me wrong) says "can't defend themselves" he used the German idiom "who aren't in the trees at [the count of] 3". I just think that's a great figure of speech/expression. You can use it in all kinds of contexts (and we do). And it's mildly funny.
    Edit: he didn't perfectly quote the idiom verbatim but I just mention that bc I am too honest not to, being German and all that. It's still about the same sentence.

    Watching political cabaret as a non-german makes me proud, at least a little. "Satire" has a long-lasting tradition and startedoff with the satirical magazin Simplicissimus from 1896 in Munich. Also the "Vorstadthochzeit" in Munich at the same time pointed humourousely at politics and industrial bourgeoisie. Satirical movement traditionally has been backed by the social democratic movement in Germany, which fought for more laborer'rights, schooling and healthcare. After WWI satire radicalized towards anti-german and predominantly communist ideas. Motivated either by relativistic defetism or by assigning the blame on the german empire, satire went through a toxic phase, flaming up the hatred between the radicals of the Weimarer Republic. What happened in WWII is well known.
    As for now, there is an interesting twist in the reception of satire. After two decades of unpolitical rehabilitation in the society, the 60 ies brought up revolutionary ideas that were primarilly backed by students. In its beginnings justified, the 68ers ideology mutated to an anarchic leftist movement and had been financed ond co-organised by KGB and Hauptverwaltung A. During this peroid satire in Germany had been influenced strongly by Dieter Hildbrandt. Hildebrandt wlaked the thin line between leftist polemism and conformist humour.
    The ghosts that the 68ers ideology let off the bottle are a major contribution to social erosion and decohesion we face today in germany, branding germany as Europes sick man. Anti-nationalism, anti-faschism, overdone emancipitation and feminisation, etc. During the 80ies, being a pupil in the west, we never have read Goethe, but vast amounts of Mann, Büchner, Böll, etc "Germany is the master of death" had been the parole of our teachers, every year we had to visit the KZ Dachau in recalling our debt and guilt of being a german citizen. Of course, our teachers were 68ers.
    The irony of that story is, that the overexaggerated political correction of the 60ies led to a self-aggressive mainstream philosophy, that got pounded into german heads for decades. And facing the downfall,of public organozation and increasing radicalization in germany, I can only state that the original contributing self-reflection of satire developed into moralising lessons of self-declared good-men. Facit: when watching german satire now, you always have to keep alert about what kind of manipulation and alternative facts or new narratives you impose your mind at. Keep alert, german satire has lost its innocence. And thre are only very few, Pispers, Mannsheimer, Schramm to name a few who can walk the line of moral self-observation without self-destruction or dumb abiding of presumably political correct paroles in mind.
