I’ve setup everything, website, supplies etc... just waiting for my line manager to approve my business interests and then I’ll get straight into selling!
Thank you so much for this video. I’m thinking of starting a dropshipping business but didn’t know how to start. This video however, answered most of my questions. Thank you again
Excellent Jack ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. I'm based in the UK but want to do dropshipping worldwide including the UK. Checkout, when based in the UK, is in pounds, which seems to put off worldwide customers. Currency converters don't change checkout into customer local currency only on the product page. Don't want to use Shopify payments, prefer Stripe/Paypal. Is it best to change to US dollars instead of pounds in this situation at the detriment of UK customers?
Thanks Peter, I would let your marketing results dictate this. If you get better data from the US change to USD, if UK is better then GBP. Also check out Shopify multi currency checkout
you need to do an update to this. Import VAT ends on 31st December 2020 and new VAT rules come in on 1st January. From then its the sellers responsibility to pay VAT not the buyer. So has a drop shipper you will need to register for VAT to your customers. The low value allowance of £15 also ends and VAT is charged on all goods.
Hi I have a question. I ordered a product to China to ship to the Uk. Now I have been given a tracking number and it shows that it comes from China. I want to give the customer their tracking number for them to see where their parcel are. But because it’s from China do you believe that customer will be upset if they found out that their parcel is in China to be shipped to the Uk? And or even should I provide the tracking number? Please can you write back to me as soon as possible?
Hi Jack Need some help... If I was to start drop shipping from Chinese companies how's does delivery costs work? Say a product is £10 why would customers pay the very high rate of delivery say at £20. Does not make sense to me. Please help
Great Video thank you. I have got a limited company. Regarding the business registration document what did you send to shopify. My Company house certificate wasn t enough. Thank you
What if you've got no money to start off with, could you wait till the customer places their order then you use that money to buy the product? How does it work?. I'm looking to start my own dropshipping business so I'm new to all that, I don't have any money to invest into the business to start off with and don't intend to use social media.
Best video ever bro :) Loved it. Please do some more video relates like this for amazon and shopify store. I got shopify dropshipping and amazon too. I searched a lot for information regards UK but no body did anything on it clearly
Hey, in regards to customs charges. If I bulk bought an Item each with a resale value say of £20 but the total worth of the items imported is £500 (25 items) do I have to pay customs charges on the import or is it just if a single item is over £135
also you sort of explained it in the video but I am a little confused. If I pay £10 and then sell it for £30 do I have to click "charge vat" on shopify or do i just add it onto the price and pay separately just a tad confused.
Hi Jack - thanks for your video, can you please cover high level steps on 1. Where is the best place to sell - FB/Ebay/Amazon/Shopify 2. Do we need to set up a website before we start selling
Great video. I’m looking to start. Had a few questions. What happens if the customer receives the product and it is damaged and also what happens when the customer does not receive the product. Finnally what is the difference between alibaba and aliexpress? Thanks a lot and keep up the great work
Good info thanks have few questions So people don’t mind waiting that long ?? And the supplier will be same if we change sourcing country or it will be different supplier ?? thanks
Hello I am from the U.K. just a quick question I’m sure you’ve covered in the video but just passing by if a buyer on my website buys my item and I’m Dropshipping - they will expect the item in 3-4 days, but most of the items aliexpress delivery is 20-30 days? So I don’t understand how it works?
Hi Jack, great video and very helpful. Quick question, at 9:20 what is the page / site you are on checking the product location for shipping quicker? I can not seem to find this on the standard AliExpress site? Thanks Lee
Something I still don't understand about import tax and VAT - How does it actually practically get charged? I mean, if a customer buys a thing from my shopify site, I then buy it for £20 from AliExpress and have it shipped straight to them, is it the courier driver / postman that collects the VAT from the customer? Does someone from customs ring them up and tell them they've still got tax to pay? How does it actually work? Same question for import tax if we're dealing with expensive items. And is there a way for us to include it in our price on our Shopify store and essentially pay it for the customer so it's all taken care of?
Hi Tom, did you watch the video? Any import fees are payable on delivery so the only way to avoid the customer is to ship the item to yourself first and the forward it on to your customer
Quick question mate, if i dropship from china using e packet, can the customer see the value of the item they purchased or does borderforce remove this?
Thanks for this video, it was great. I am very confused about customs fees and VAT. I have ordered different things from Aliexpress myself, I live in Sweden and I have been paying around 10$ for the custom fee & VAT for an item that cost only 2-3$! which just does not make sense! One more thing, if a customer add different items to their card at once which are from from different suppliers on Aliexpress, they will arrive in different packages which means they have to pay custom fee & VAT for each single package which is very sad :(. What can we do for that?! and when the item arrives to custom and the customer pays fees and gives information about the buying.....won't the invoice tell them the real price of the item from the dropshipper wholesaler? plus the price is already written on the package. How do people deal with all these?
Who pays the VAT? As a dropshipper do I just report the VAT due to HMRC, and then pay it in my return or does the customer get a 20% bill on top on the goods paid for? Kind rgds
So is VAT a major stumbling block?? www.thefriendlyaccountants.co.uk/vat-rules-for-dropshippers/#:~:text=The%20VAT%20rules%20for%20dropshippers%20are%20currently%20governed%20by%20the,goods%20determines%20the%20VAT%20treatment.&text=If%20you%20are%20dropshipping%20from,the%20goods%20are%20shipped%20from.

Hi, great video! There are some changes since 1 Jan 2021 in regards to VAT, could you please explain these? As according to new rules, for purchases under £135 the VAT is paid by the seller and there is no £15 threshold anymore. Also, I'm looking for information about working with European suppliers, as they don't know how the new rules apply after the transition period has ended, who is to get an EORI number, how to register for VAT, how to submit VAT related data, even how to pay the VAT from another European country... Everything is so confusing to them, and me on the other end. Thanks
Question: firstly is this the same with Ireland or just the UK because you know yourself Ireland is quite similar in terms of rules and laws and also for the custom duty are charged on separate packages or is it if you buy in bulk
Hi can you help me please. Im based on the UK, I'm Dropshipping from China to a different country not UK. What do I need to know about Customs and VAT? Do I change VAT? I don't want to get into trouble. Thanks.
How do we manage to reconcile the 20% when we are VAT registered. So if registered we have to charge 20% of the cost to the customer extra and this goes to the government. So as a sole trader my item is 10 pounds. I now need to charge VAT to the customer. so the item is now 12 pounds to them. Plus any shipping. I fear my conversions will drop. Any pointers or have I got something wrong.
Hello Jack, Please can you do a video on setting up shipping page. I launched my site got some good footfall into the site but no orders... Untill I realised I didn't set up my shipping properly so when I test order from the UK my site advises the product can't be ordered :( to think I lost sells because of this is horrible.... Legit cried for a day please please help!! M x
Thanks for making the video. Your example parcel had the value of the goods on it (presumably the wholesale value). Do customers complain about being charged more than the value on the parcel and how would you explain this. I'm assuming that the value must appear on the parcel for customs purposes or is there a way around it?
Hello Jack, a good friend of mine has a ltd company based in the UK, his primary market is South Africa, does he need to pay Customs or VAT on orders he gets from South Africa?
Hi I have a question. If we are dropshipping an item over £15 and a customer has purchased something from our site. We then forward that order to a company in China to send to our customer. Does the customer pay VAT? Or us? Would the customer be paying VAT when the delivery man is at the door or what? I’m confused
Hi Jack... If I already have a ltd for some of my contract work but my sector is a little dry at present, do you know if it is more sensible to set up as a new Ltd comapny or sole trader to run the e-com stuff or should I set up a new 'trading as' umbrella company under my already existing Ltd company? I'm sure they both have their complications... thanks in advance!
Thanks for the video it is was very informative, do I need to worry about the customer misusing the product (a phone accessory) leading to them coming to some kind of harm? Not sure where I would find information about this but it is a concern as I will be registering as a sole trader. And I assume in the making of my first £1000 I will be classed as a sole trader in legal terms? Sorry it's a lot of questions, it's just I don't see many other UK videos out there. Many thanks
Hi James, if you're a sole trader look into public and product liability insurances, these will protect you against such accidents. You also need to make sure the products you import are CE certificated
Ok, thanks for your help. I'm excited to start the business but just want to make sure I research as much as possible beforehand as I'm sure you will appreciate.
So if I'm dropshipping and selling a product that costs me 8£ from China, but i sell it 100 times to different customers, do I pay VAT and customs duty? Because it's under the threshold but you sell it multiple times ?
Jack I found a product and it’s better off to use eBay as suppliers than AliExpress but I can’t find any ways to do that. Is it possible to link your shopify with eBay?
Hi Jack, great channel thanks. I am looking at bringing a product from Turkey - UK customized printed elements specific for each customer will also be required on each order so I cannot order and store in bulk. So each order will come direct from the manufacturer to customer, not using Ali Express or Ali Baba. Each order could cost me at least a few hundred quid. How could I ensure that I pay any Customs Duty and VAT on the import and not my customer when they receive their package please? If my customers were expected to pay that VAT and customs duty, :/ I am not sure how they would take that!
Hi Paul, you could either make it crystal clear to your customers at checkout or get the item shipped to yourself first then forward it on to your customer. Will allow you to check the quality etc as well too
It has been one of the best decisions I've made for my online business. It's a real directory with real wholesalers, drop shippers, and manufacturers, So I highly recommend if you are looking for a honest, and reliable directory for your business you should go with *MyOnlineSelling. Com* You won't regret it.
I watched this video when it came out. I was then looking for a VAT answer and noticed this in the the search.. so you get another watch from me! Is the VAT for goods over £15 paid invoiced to the customer? Just wondering as shopify have an option to include VAT on the UK items.
For Spain/ France/ United States/ Australia, does customs duty and VAT change from what you said at the start of the video? I.E. If you ship from US/AUS to UK, as it outside the EU, its the same rules that apply as if it was from China. But, with Spain, France and Poland, do you then have to charge VAT (if your revenue is above £85k), and customs duties will also apply?
hello great video....My question is about the quality of the product...if somebody want to start a dropshipping business through shopify as a long term business...how do you know the quality of your products from Ali express....the customers may buy your products but they can return it and leave you a negative feedback on your store in case the quality is low??
hi, i just wanted to clarify. If my product costs £3 and postage cost £7 from china, this totals £10. If I were to sell my product for £50 would this cause the VAT to kick into effect? As this would be more than £15 VAT allowed? or it VAT worked out just on the product and postage you pay the supplier?
When you dropship, the price the customers pay will be in the pack as he. At customs will you be charged the cost you bought it or the main sale price. In the package the only price that will show is the sale price. What will we be charged?
Awesome! My product is 13.50£. Another question, what about dropshipping based in Germany to UK? I heard I don't have to pay the UK government anything as long as it is below 70.000£. Do you know anything about that? Thanks!
Hi Jack, It is great that you have posted videos that are relevant to the UK for dropshipping. A quick question, I am thinking as a consumer now. How do you let your customers know that if they go over £15, they will pay VAT when they shop in your store?
Hi jack, loving your videos been writing so many notes down ready for when i can afford to take your course at the end of the month! already to spoke to you over the phone. Might have been suggested before but could you do a video on advertising on Snapchat please?
Great video, thank you. However I am total beginner, where do u store all these bulk goods coming from china? Do u mostly sell it on amazon or shopify or both? All these inventories like warehouse storage, label & distribution etc could you pls give me advise step by step information on how you’ve tackle on this big issues? Thank you 🙏🏻
Hi Uma, you can store them anywhere it's up to you! If you want to save on cost store them in a spare room/ garage and post yourself or use a fulfilment centre that will take care of everything for you but obviously for a cost
Thanks for watching guys, who's starting dropshipping in 2021??
Hi would you mind checking ur DM please
Will check them today :)
Thank you 😊

Good stuff Jack with lots of helpful information. The free ebooks also seem interesting. I'll have a look at those shortly.
I’m a beginner, but why would a wholesaler agree to sending off individual items at a ‘wholesale’ price? Surely they’d want a minimum order right?
Best video ever bro :) Loved it. Please do some more video relates like this for amazon and shopify store. I got shopify dropshipping and amazon too. I searched a lot for information regards UK but no body did anything on it clearly
Thanks!
Great content. This channel has such great information. Thanks for all you share.
Thanks Jeff appreciate it!
What happens if your customer wants to return the tiem?
Great breakdown bro 👍🏾
Hey, in regards to customs charges. If I bulk bought an Item each with a resale value say of £20 but the total worth of the items imported is £500 (25 items) do I have to pay customs charges on the import or is it just if a single item is over £135
It’s the total import so you’d pay it on the overall value I.e. £500
Jack Kitchener ahh perfect thanks for clearing that up!
Hi Jack, thank you. Very helpful. What happens when the product arrives from china alibaba, who pays customs duty? How can the seller pay that?
what about taking someones product and copying it with a higher price e.g dropshipping from a dropshipper
Why not get it from a supplier?
also you sort of explained it in the video but I am a little confused. If I pay £10 and then sell it for £30 do I have to click "charge vat" on shopify or do i just add it onto the price and pay separately just a tad confused.

Thanks
Do I have to setup a company

If you are just starting dropshipping (individual/sole trader), should you not include a VAT number?... or is it a MUST have?
Only if you're VAT registered, if you're not you won't have one
I live in the UK, can i dropship to only the US? When I choose a country nearer to the UK to ship to, the amount of sales are very low.
Yes you can drop ship to US. Only set up shipping settings for there and they will be your only customers
Is there a way I can drop ship a item over £15 direct to my customer without them getting a customs/tax bill or knowing it’s come from abroad?
Get it shipped to yourself first
is it me or drop shipping in the UK seems more complicated than in the US

Does the customer pay VAT? Or us? Would the customer be paying VAT when the delivery man is at the door or what? I’m confused
If that item is over £15 to use as the person paying on Aliexpress. The customer will get an invoice through their door

Those rules are for outside the US. Different rules for within EU to within EU.
hello great video....My question is about the quality of the product...if somebody want to start a dropshipping business through shopify as a long term business...how do you know the quality of your products from Ali express....the customers may buy your products but they can return it and leave you a negative feedback on your store in case the quality is low??
Sample the product first :)
Great info - Do you stick to selling to EU countries or use a fulfilment house in the USA?
hi, i just wanted to clarify. If my product costs £3 and postage cost £7 from china, this totals £10. If I were to sell my product for £50 would this cause the VAT to kick into effect? As this would be more than £15 VAT allowed? or it VAT worked out just on the product and postage you pay the supplier?
What you pay the supplier :)
Hi Jack, I know you do a course which is available to anyone but do you do any direct mentorship like on a 1 on 1 basis?
Hey Jack, I’ve set up a drop shipping website. Do you do mentoring at a price? Thanks!
What if I dropshipping just UK to UK? I'm just a beginer, what taxes I may need to pay?
Hi love your videos. So if I had a high ticket product of £100 will I be charged 20% VAT on it deliverinf to my customers from china?
Yes, if thats the value it costs you
When you dropship, the price the customers pay will be in the pack as he. At customs will you be charged the cost you bought it or the main sale price. In the package the only price that will show is the sale price. What will we be charged?
What it says on Aliexpress when you pay

Awesome! My product is 13.50£. Another question, what about dropshipping based in Germany to UK? I heard I don't have to pay the UK government anything as long as it is below 70.000£. Do you know anything about that? Thanks!
Import fees are the same for all of the EU
Hi Jack,
It is great that you have posted videos that are relevant to the UK for dropshipping.
A quick question, I am thinking as a consumer now. How do you let your customers know that if they go over £15, they will pay VAT when they shop in your store?
Do you really need to pay vat if you sell under 85000£ in a year
It depends on what you’re buying and where from
Thank you for this video, great value, especially for beginners.
Glad it was helpful!
Hi. Thanks for this vid. Could you make one on how to find Uk suppliers if you don’t want to ship from outside Uk.
Hi jack, loving your videos been writing so many notes down ready for when i can afford to take your course at the end of the month! already to spoke to you over the phone. Might have been suggested before but could you do a video on advertising on Snapchat please?
Thanks! Great Vid! What happesn if the customer would like to return the item for a refund?
How do you pay border tax when your item is over that £135 threshold?
You'll get an invoice from the carrier
Hi mate. Do you order the products you’re going too sell to your self before and then ship them yourself too whoever buys them ?
If I'm bulk buying yes, if I'm dropshipping then no
Great video, thank you.
