Hands down the best guitar support out there I’ve been using them for over a year. I have the medium large and crossover. I tend to favor the giant large size which is odd since I’m short, 5 foot. Yes. It’ll take you several practice sessions to get it in the right spot. After that it becomes an extension of the instrument, you grow accustomed to the giant size, and do not lose a connection to you and the instrument. You are correct! Balancing is key for finding the sweet position spot. For the ladies it’s great on the upper chest area. It’s a lot of real estate to travel with. I’m sure that’s an issue for some but that’s the only thing I can think of being an issue. Secrets out and now they’re hard to find. Thanks from Las Vegas! Great review.

I have a half-plate for awhile and am pretty happy with it. In addition to your positive observations, to me one single important feature, which satisfies my requirement is to place my 2 feet on the ground (vs use of a foot stool). I still like the foot stool, however being over 60 yrs old, I found that this sitting posture seemed to cause some pain in the back, or even the left foot (not completely confirmed). With this half-plate guitar lift, small enough to put in my computer bag, I can sit up straight with both feet on the ground, knees at the same level of the hip (the correct sitting posture), and practice/play as long as I want without pain afterward.
For the issue of the "sharp" edge on the top that you describe, maybe consider a small piece of pipe cover over that edge as a buffer. If it is small enough in diameter, then it should not press against the guitar back.
One of only two guitar supports I trust on the market, my everyday is the magnetic support but many of my friends and teachers use these and after trying one they are super sturdy!

I see more and more established pro's using this system. Definitely agree with the vinyl. Apart from a more secure fitting on French Polish, it also prevents any marks from the suckers. French Polish and Nitro finishes are easily marked by some rubber and plastics and the marks are permanent.
I put the guitar in its stand with the support attached. In about an hour the cups released. So just press the support into the guitar every 20 minutes or so and no worries.
A beginner might have more trouble finding the best position with this guitar support. Good review. Thanks for doing the review, I have wondered about this type of support. I might give it a try.
I am a bit tall, 1.83 cm, and the Medium is a bit small for me, just thought I should inform you, I didn't feel as mobile as with ergoplay...now considering changing for the big one or the sageworks...
I have ergoplay and don’t like it too much. So was this Guitar Lift better? Did you end up getting the large? Was it better? I’m 1.85 cm and learning on a Cordoba C9 Ce
@@gustavopaulette3496 I got a big one with standard cut for me. I use it with Alhambra linea classical and Sire R7 acoustic and I am pretty happy with how it feels with both. Suction cups looks sturdy enough to handle my heavy acoustic too. With the acoustic I use guitarlift at slightly lower height setting for my comfortable position & it still got margin to go even lower or much higher. With classical I use it in mid height position. Only minor thing I felt is the thigh cut design I chose. As I have slightly fat thighs I feel wide cut might just have suited a little better than standard cut. But I can live happily with what I got. Goodluck! 👍
My guitar is a Torres copy and use the medium guitar lift, it’s brilliant, decided the large one would be too big for the smaller bodied instrument, sure I made the right choice
I also have a Torres style and the medium lifts it up high enough for me to play. It works better than the Ergoplay models for this, although I feel that the foam cutout isn't that comfortable for me. Guess I have big thighs!
Not sure if it’s in the recording but it seems like the sound changes when you lean against the support. My personal favorite to date is the Barnett/Sageworks support.
I think it would work but it would depend on the bass, classical guitars have a flat back making it easy to position anywhere. Electric basses usually have some curves and also the electronics box in the way.
Well, it depends. Buttons from shirts do a lot more in terms of marking it up. In the end it's just normal wear and tear. For me I don't think twice about it and have used suction cups for years.

I also own a Guitarlift. I had been using a footstool but for some reason, I couldn't quite get the guitar into a comfortable playing position. IDK why, could be because I have a long torso for my height, or because I am morbidly obese and can't bring the guitar close enough to my chest. I received my guitarlift a few days ago, and I am able to get the guitar in exactly the right position. I love it. My only problem with it is that it's a bit pricey at 70 euro, although other high-end guitar supports aren't cheap either.
What would you recommend for a support: I have girthy belly , getting back to playing after 30 years of Bass playing, still need to by a classical' I would appreciate your assistance, Thx.
For at home practice I would recommend the ErgoPlay Troster support, the adjustments on it might work better for you. The suction cups are pretty good if you keep them clean and if they don't stick well to your guitar you can use a static vinyl cling to create a better suction.
I do have another question after years of reading bass clef, how do I approach reading Treble clef without getting confused? And what do you recommend of a purchase of a classical guitar .. my Price Range no more than $350 ?
I'd guess the suction cups function as filters and the plate functions as a resonator for whatever frequencies the suction cups pass through, as well as a reflector for the sounds emanating from the backside of the guitar. I would expect to hear some frequency ranges amplified and some attenuated. The effect could also depend on the sound spectra and manifest itself differently depending on what interference patterns emerge from the interplay between the echo chamber and the plate as a resonator and the open-ended echo-space between the two. Et cetera, et cetera. A lot of fun could be had with piezos and an oscilloscope here.
After watching the review and reading all the glowing comments I placed an order for the "big" one. Well, I can't say how bitterly disappointed I am with it. Certainly not worth the money and I would return it if I could.
Only thing is they charge too damn much for it. 100 bucks is crazy for 4 suction cups, a piece of plastic and a piece of foam. If your handy you could make one. I found all the parts for less than $50.
I see both sides to it. You're both right. It's a great product that works. But that is a crazy price for a basic piece of plexi glass and four suction cups. It's such a niche product. Guitar stores don't even sell them. You have to go to a specialized store for them.

I mean, anywhere the guitar contacts a surface (such as the upper bout on my chest) wears a little but I wouldn't call it damage.

Ya, depends on how much clearance you need, maybe the larger ones allow maximum adjustment.

New player here...for all of these supports, isn't it necessary to store the guitar in its case meaning taking it on and off every time you play?
Yes, you take it off each time. Only takes 5-10 seconds though.

How do you think the pressure on the left leg compares to an Ergoplay? Is it a softer feel, less pressure on the leg?
I thought it was comfortable. But I find most supports comfortable in that regard.
This big plate, can it apply on the right leg too? Like an acoustic player? tkq.

I was suggesting the opposite but maybe the suction cups dampen? I felt it was vibrating more.
