- Today BNSF ran a test train in Glendora to test recently installed electrical equipment and signaling systems, as part of the Foothill Gold Line project. With this, the train no longer has to stop at crossings anymore, and in addition, the speed limit of the line was raised from 10mph to 40mph, though realistically the local trains in the future will most likely never reach that speed. Nonetheless, the days of actual train chases are pretty much over now. Seen in this video is an extra Kaiser Roadswitcher, with an extra board crew, taking the usual local power set along the line, before being cut loose in Glendora for testing. Because the train had to get up to speed to 40mph, the train also ran through Azusa to use it as a sort of ramp to reach this speed. The train did several round trips where crossings were flagged by workers and monitored by electricians from the project. Enjoy a sight to never be seen again on the Pasadena Subdivision!
Thanks for watching!
