I think that this interview is an example of people feigning thoughtfulness while being enablers to those who are already benefitting from unfettered access to technologies and to unyielding sources of wealth that these technologies are pathways to. Sam & Greg ought to have worked first on UBI, worldwide health security, and on a functional feeding the unfed strategies and implementations prior to releasing these large language models which are discarding entry level jobs as well as sources of employment and income opportunities. I am a proponent of LLMs and AI. Yet, I am disheartened by the act of discarding our humanity for the sake of releasing something too early, e.g., far before taking care of those who are suffering. I hope that LLMs are not a new religion.

Today I asked Bing to make up a joke about Welsh cheese and a greyhound - it refused on the grounds that it didn't want to offend either in relation to Welsh cheeses (creamy and delicious was its banal reference) or greyhounds /animals in general. It's over for those of us outside the companies now - if we only have access to the kindergarden version, there is no point to it, for the general public anyway. For companies like Google and Meta who have access to the working version? Well, let's see how they treat us in a few months or a years' time.
